Yes, this guide...

http://forum.bitcoin.org/?topic=7514.0

I have since bought another MSI 890FXA to house the additional spare cards I have. But would still like to be able max all 5 slots (possibly 6 as I have some x1 risers on order), if & when I buy more cards.

What was your spec of the machine that booted with 5 pci-e's.

Did you get them all hashing?

I had a problem getting ubuntu to boot with more than 2 cards than I was getting errors in red fail brackets then I formatted and created my start up install disk on a ubuntu live cd and it worked. I scraped ubuntu and just went with 4 per mobo just because the psu needed was too much and linux is not worth the marginal gain. I could boot 5x5870 on a 1200w but the 6th got iffy and tried a 5970 and it wouldn't even boot up.

Hi all

I am trying to get my MSI 890FXA-GD70 to run 5 x 5870's. All the graphics cards work fine, all both the risers work fine, and all the slots are fine, as I have tested these thoroughly in different combinations.

But, when I populate all 5 slots, it takes a lot longer to boot, at least 3-4 times a long, and then when I detect the graphics cards, by running "aticonfig --odgt --adapter=all" it get errors on 2 of the cards.

Additional Info that might be of help...
2GB Ram
Ubuntu 11.04 64bit
Sempron 140 CPU
2 x 850W XFX PSU's

I have searched the forums, but it just seams to be people saying that what rig they want, not what they actually have

Any thoughts...

Cheers
