It has come to my notice that these people don't actually know what to do. instead of saying that they have quit they should know that they are actually  going on a gambling break..

More like somebody making a new year resolution at the beginning of the year especially the last minutes of the previous year not to continue with some nefarious attitude again in the new year but because they are only saying it by the tip of their tongue and with previous experience, they find themselves going back to their vomit when it seem like that experience have gone down. In gambling, I will hardly doubt someone that is consistently making profit easily in gambling to quit it, this is very rare. They quit when they are not having to win and that is drawing them down financially, they could be advised by their wife to quit.
As a gambler then you shouldnt really make yourself do comes into a point on where you are already financially broken before you to quit or make have some breaks. If you dont like on experiencing such thing
then you should really be having that a good control towards self when it comes to decisions you do make.If you do mean on quitting or taking a break then you should really do it, despite on getting
exposed on things that are related to gambling then its really hard to resist. It would really be testing out your discipline or self control which we know that
each people wont really be the same in level when it comes to tolerance which means that outcomes and decisions will really vary.

So many people actually tell themselves lies and intend to keep going on with those lies and continue saying this popular quote "this time no more I have quit"
It is important to understand that most time when people say "this time no more I have quit", they may have experienced a huge loss and they are saying that out of guilt, remorse or unhappiness. They do not often mean it. So eventually, when their emotions have returned back to the normal state, they begin to make all sorts of rationalizations and put off all sorts of logic why they should gamble "one last time".

Addiction comes in when we let our  us during gambling or after gambling. Gambling should be seen as a means of entertainment and not a means of making profit in other not to be quitting every time when you have lost.

It is a normal say for people that are addicted into one habit or the other in using this word 'quit' to encourage themselves to go on a break on that habit. Gambling is just like smoking which discipline and self determination are what one needs to quit. I do go on break in gambling but I don't call it quitting due to some reasons that I know might make me go back.

You cannot take a temporary break if you plan to stop gambling. It can go well for 1 day, or a week or even months. Sooner or later you get the urge to gamble again and at that moment you can no longer think rationally. What will normally happen is that you start gambling again, maybe win some but eventually lose again. Then you want to stop again and you simply end up in a vicious circle, it is difficult to get out of it. Few can do that on their own. You may be taking a temporary break because you spend way too much time on gambling sites without major losses.

You might be right OP it isn't really quitting but a simple break.
A simple break with lot of stuff happens during that time may lead to another full blown one if not moderated. I think having thing that reminds you to break, when to play again etc., is a nice thing to have rather than just says you're gonna break or you're quitting from it.
What he needed was action to stop gambling. This is very necessary because he can relieve tension when playing gambling before and make his mind fresher when he is resting. He can sit quietly for a while or drink coffee or do something else, which usually relieves his tension after gambling. If we don't try it, it will be difficult to say stop because our minds will always be on the previous game. And if we've lost before, maybe quitting is the best way out before we lose a lot of money.

Quitting vs taking a break aren’t all that different. Both require that you beat your demons regardless of whatever addiction you are trying to destroy. I think as long as you’re honest with yourself you can return to some bad habits, but you should at least be honest with yourself about what is in control of your life. A break here and there to prove you’re in control of your own destiny is always encouraged.

It is very important to consider taking a pause and having a rethink about how we gamble especially whenever it seems like things weren't working as expected whenever we gamble in relation to our daily lives, we must have a check and balance routine task to acreditate ourselves to know weather things were running well just as expected, while quitting gambling is as simple as the acceptance of defeat on every encounters, so instead of quitting, recheck and balance yourself and make positive impact in gambling.

You might be right OP it isn't really quitting but a simple break.
The question is how long would the break would be?
Cause we don't really know for sure on how long we could stay out of gambling.
We might have been gone for a long but who knows maybe in the future there would be something that would make us come back into it.

That is certainly true. There will still be things around us that will attract us to gamble again which will be hard for us to avoid. We can take a break but we can't totally eliminate gambling from our lives as for me, I see nothing wrong with that as long as we are gambling responsibly and it isn't ruining our lives. We can take a break from gambling if necessary but it's fine to go back to it as long as we know our limits.

Taking a break from gambling is better than not doing anything at all, if you notice that your gambling habits are becoming problematic in your life. So that's a very responsible step to take and should be applauded.

Not many people know when to walk away from the casinos, even when it starts messing with their life.

Your mind is not a machine, it needs breaks too. And the constant firing of neuromolecules from gambling really tires your brain out. That can lead to mental health issues like depression. So not taking breaks is not a fantastic way to live. Even professional poker players need to take breaks otherwise their brains just fry out, leaving them in a bad place.

There should be no shame in either quitting nor taking time off.

Gambling is a habit so difficult to stop
We have a notion that it is, but it will not be that too difficult if we put our mind to not gamble when we're in urgency not to. There are many ways you can selflessly do it but that's on your resolve if you put your heart in it.

You might be right OP it isn't really quitting but a simple break.

Actually these two words have the same meaning in my opinion, quitting from gambling when you have won or because the money has run out that day and taking a break because you don't have time to gamble, both of which will still be able to bring gamblers back to playing when they have money and also time.
Indeed there are gamblers who promise not to play anymore for many reasons but when they return to play it is because of the sensation and gambling that is hard to forget and the environment can sometimes make him finally return to playing

Gamblers don't know that break and quit are just the same words I usually used that two words when I'm quitting or want to have a break for a week, quit or break is the most abused words in a gambler's vocabulary, they used it without taking it seriously, they may I say I quit but after they realize that their favorite casinos are giving anniversary giveaways, he'll be in a hurry to log in and claim those giveaways, so don't totally believe when they use these two words.

I was there. I've told it to myself many times before but here I am still playing. Not all but some or maybe most gamblers really doesn't have contentment. Once they have reached a winning qouta. Their mind will urge them to surpass it and so they will. Gamblers only have greedines. Win or lose, only few gamblers can follow what they say no matter what is the outcome of their session. Getting away or even taking a break is actually hard not unless you don't have anything to play. Quitting is not an easy task that you can take by yourself.
Quitting is not an easy thing for active gamblers because as long as they don't get a win, they will continue to play and even if they win they will continue to play as long as the game is still there.
stopping is just a trap word that they will repeat again because they feel something is missing from them, namely gambling activities because that is their satisfaction, let it go and in the end they will stop at the right time.
and I also feel that and maybe I can only reduce or limit it by looking for new activities, namely work and while I am working my time is busy with work and for now I only play when there is a desire to gamble and also with limited capital.

If you are engaged in some kind of human activity, then it is not accidental.

This means that you are satisfying some important vital need of yours.  That is why it is very difficult to take a break from gambling.  You have an important unsatisfied vital need.  Therefore, you need to understand yourself very well.  You need to answer the question - what is your motivation to gamble?

By answering this question, you can develop your own strategy and tactics for temporarily avoiding gambling.

And this departure will occur without psychological breakdowns and negative consequences.

Taking a break until they finally quit.

If that's what they intend to do, they just have to do it gradually because having an instant stop will make them harder to do. It takes time until they take it seriously to quit.

Because at most times, when they quit, it's only within their mouths and they can't really quit just as much as they want to do.

Taking a break from gambling is not something you should have to quit gambling.

I often take a break from gambling because I don't feel like playing. Rather, I enjoy watching others play during breaks.

Gambling breaks are not uncommon. People gamble for peace of mind, but sometimes they have to take a break because of the extra time spent. After a short break, they return after some time has passed.

However, if you are at risk of becoming addicted to gambling, you should stop playing before you become addicted to avoid the risk. If necessary, go to a rehab center.

Should we call it "gambling rest"? as we want to rest and don't want to play, I just realized now that there are times when you don't want to play but want to watch the games (mostly card games). This is when we are too tired to bet and don't feel like it's our lucky day.

You can't tell that you're already addicted to gambling. You can't control yourself and stop gambling, so the best thing to do is seek professional help and support from your family and friends.

Quitting is not really a necessary thing to do but everyone can do gambling slowly. By doing gambling slowly, it means just being a casual gambler and not a heavy one. It really depends on our own how we control our gambling activity. Taking a break would be nice and come back later on if you think you are now ready to do gambling again.

Try to be responsible as much as possible. No one can blame here but ourselves if we turned out being sh*t by doing gambling.

every gambler has their own way of treating their gambling activities. taking a break is just one. but some always try to quit, however, they also find out that they always go back to where they are. change of lifestyle should be your own accord. so it would be easy for you to motivate to achieve things on your own.
if you think you need to alter your path, then do it. do it religiously, because in time, you will also thank yourself what you've done in your life.

Your decision making affects long-term outcome of your goal, if you think that quitting may help you to regain control with your gambling activities then do it, taking breaks or diverting your attentions to other things that will keep you busy and away from gambling might help as well, but the process might be tough knowing that if you already attached to something it is hard to change how the system inside you works in your everyday life.

Proper balance and know how to manage both your time and your money. It will help you to avoid getting addicted and lose lots of money.

Fun of any sort when becomes uncontrolled and unlimited becomes problem for everyone and specially the person who's doing it and quitting any sort of addiction is very difficult and sometimes impossible.  You think you have quit your particular bad habit but that eventually comes back after sometime .
Similar is the case with gambling ,gamblers think they have quit the gambling but actually they havenot . There's just one solution for this that try and learn to control your fun ,if you are doing gambling do it in limits so that you don't have a big shock if you loose.

Those that can't do it on an instant.

They can take a break until they like their break and they will be able to quit gambling wholly. That's the way for the others to make them quit gambling if they can't do it for now.

It's like practicing yourself going away from gambling and then you do some other things as you take a break. And when it takes a lot of time, you'll be able to realize how long it has been since you have stopped.
When you do tend to have a break then you should mean it,try to make yourself able to avoid all of the things which is correlated with gambling because if you dont
then you would be eventually be playing again even if you do say into yourself that you would be having a break or pause after your huge loss in gambling or simply
did make out decisions just because you had been aware that it is really causing too much damage when it comes to finances.
If you do take a brake then you should mean it and dont just simply ignore it away on the time you do see things which is connected to it.
We do mean it.

But, the reality sucks that when a gambler can't do it on an instant just as how we're talking as if it's easy for them. They're going to deal with it and it's not that really easy at all.

And that is because they are tempted to gamble again. So, doing it on breaks will help them have that cycle and practice that will eventually be productive just as what they've planned to do.

Breaking free from gambling addiction is not an easy job. I know of how times, I have tried to quit but to all avail until a friend comes to my rescue by telling me what to do. He says for me to be able to quit gambling, I should let go of certain things or attitudes. I should start by getting my mind occupied with life events, deactivating the betting apps on my phone, changing location or having a running investment. After all that, I saw myself staying months without gambling.

What I believe is that every addiction you find yourself in has a way to stop it(Whether is gambling, smoking, alcohol, stealing etc), if only you apply the right manners.

It's like a disease that is difficult to cure. There are many people out there who gamble every day, but some are successful and some are getting poorer. Please note I do not attack a gambler but I am also one of the gamblers since 3 years ago, a lot of gambling I do from sportsbooks to the most frequent is slot gambling, I often feel defeat and only a few wins I get, of course this a bitter experience. Finally, I started to leave my bad daily life a little by not holding my cellphone and more often doing activities outside the home, such as fishing or climbing mountains to change my thinking so that I could be free from it all.

Addiction is not something to really joke with, a lot of gamblers have ended their lives untimely due to addiction in gambling, it is really important to take the issue quite seriously.

If by any chance you discover that stopping gambling have become a difficult thing to do, like you tell yourself you quit and later, you find yourself gambling again, if this continue for maybe three different occasions, then i honestly suggest the party involved should begin to seek help immediately, do not wait until the situation have become so severe, it is better to approach this issue on time than leave it until the situation becomes really worst.
This is my candid advice.

When people make decisions like this they are serious about it but it is not just easy for them to hold to it because of the addiction. I have been in a state like this  that I could not hold to my decision .
People who make decisions like this always,  at the end come back fir it.

Not a lot of people are brave enough to admit that they are doing something negative that needs to stop for them to rethink their actions. Not a lot of people are ready to face the other truth that sometimes, what they're doing is no longer okay and it affects other aspects in their lives. In gambling, a gambler won't admit he/she's problematic unless they are dragged to a very difficult situation e.g. having an enormous debt or selling their properties for funds to gamble. They need to have a very solid reason of stopping what they think is 'harmless fun.'

Well I can't blame them. If it primarily serves  as something that gives them enjoyment, it will be hard to let go.

Gambling is a habit so difficult to stop

I agree, because of several factors gambling habit is really difficult to contain. It has something to do with the dopamine that is being produced during a gambling session that keep us wanting to gambling more.  The more we engage in gambling the more it is hard for us to stop.  And whenever we think we already quit and stopped, then comes the time we found ourselves gambling again.  So yeah @OP is correct when we thought we are quitting, what we mean is just taking a break.

You said about dopamine!!

My opinion is that age plays an influential role and makes a difference in this situation.

Whether you get excited or calm while gambling depends on your experience and age.

As long as you are a mature enough gambler, you will be able to control yourself in any situation in which you find yourself. In the event that you lose control, you will have to accept that you lack the necessary experience.

It is common for gamblers to set their limits based on their win-loss ratio when it comes to gambling. It is also relevant to note that gamblers often determine their level of gambling based on their income.

On the other hand, if you are addicted, it will be a different story.

Probably the reason as to why these gamblers can't stop gambling even if they repetitively say that they're quitting is because they are still addicted with it. I, myself, had told myself the same thing however since I was addicted to gambling, I was not able to stop until I've reached my biggest lose which changed me.

Right now, I don't focus much on gambling and stick with my hobbies and work. Yes, I am still gambling but right now I know that I can stop anytime I want since I already did before .
At least you stated the fact that you are still gambling. It's just that you have limited your addiction and maybe reduce your gambling stakes so as to reduce any substantial great losses that would emotional and psychological affect you
Well I urge to stick to this tactics of yours and never go back to gambling addiction

Yes, gambling is difficult to stop and that is why we have those who become so addicted.
This is the reality in gambling, once you enter into the phase of addiction it will be hard for you to get away of that but of course once you committed to stop gambling you can still do it, its just a matter of time and a lot of sacrifices. Its good to have a break sometimes especially if you feel burned out already and tired of your losses, you can always come back in gambling when you are more ready and already know how to control yourself.
Gambling turns to be addictive when there is continuous loss, because the mind always remember of recovering the loss. From my personal experience, mind never thinks of making big money but wants back what is being lost. This is where most of the time the control gets missed and users go for borrowing money to gamble.

Having a break itself a good thing, because it makes the gambler think about the financial problems that could arise out of gambling. Gambling is fun when we do it with limits. Quitting is difficult when we're on the losing streak.

Gambling is a habit so difficult to stop

Through out my days as a  GAMBLER  I have seen and had  so many people who for some reason have decided in their mind that they want to stop Gambling but in the latter of things said I eventually  see them again  involving themselves in gambling acts.

So many people actually tell themselves lies and intend to keep going on with those lies and continue saying this popular quote "this time no more I have quit"

Except for  people that take the act of gambling for fun who are really not affected by gambling so many people have uttered these particular quote noted above

It has come to my notice that these people don't actually know what to do. instead of saying that they have quit they should know that they are actually  going on a gambling break..
Quitting is always a choice, and while some gamblers stick to their choices and leave gambling behind, others could not stand it so they only take a break and gamble again when they think they can do it again. So if gamblers want to quit, of course they can, but maybe most of the gamblers still want to take every chances to make more profits by chasing their luck and hoping to win this time despite of their huge losses. That is why some have quit gambling successfully, while others end up gambling more and become drown with their huge losses.

Addiction can be a powerful trait in many people and once you go down that rabbit hole the only thing possible to cure it can be total abstinence. If somebody has been addicted to cigarettes, they have both a chemical and a habitual addiction which is a somewhat similar to gambling. Only with gambling you get an adrenaline rush from big wins along with the habit forming behaviors. There is a whole industry built up around the psychology of gambling because it generates a hell of a lot of money for the various companies that partake in it. They are trying to squeeze every last cent out of you if they can, so will manipulate every trigger possible to draw you back in.

When you are already addicted then quitting is really hard
When you are already addicted then only your mind is just telling to quit
When your emotion do sets in and wanting to gambling badly, then you would be ending up on playing again.
When your self discipline had been overcomed by greed

You would definitely not able to quit.If you do play or having some little time span breaks then it wont be that idea
but honestly it is really just slowing down things but dont change up a single thing.

That's one sign, when people doesn't want to admit that they have been hook already but lies.

Because you will see after what they said, they will continue to gamble, but this time, they will going to hide it from people. And then after a a gambling session, you will hear from them that they quit, then after sometime going back to the old habit again.

Gambling is a habit so difficult to stop

Anything that you're hooked up too or worst getting addicted to is really hard to get rid of. A lot of people are actually planning to quit gambling but will only end up lying to themselves, because the urge is still there. Quitting on to something doesn't happen in a blink of an eye, there is a thorough process for it to successfully overcome any temptations while you're in the process. An indefinite break must be the first step. You might be doing it again on the latter, but make sure to minimize the usual expenses and time spent than before, and do it gradually until you only gamble casually.

This also has an important side effect, the more they say they are going to quit gambling and the more they keep failing this creates in them the impression they cannot control themselves at all, and in the case they become addicted to gambling it will be way harder for them to beat their addiction as they have already created a pattern for themselves in which they cannot quit gambling at all, so if someone is really determined to quit gambling for good they need to make a legitimate effort so this does not happen to them.

It depends on how deep the addiction to gambling is. If a person is addicted to gambling already, he will have a hard time quitting on his own. There should be an outside factor that will force him to stop gambling for a long time and develop another habit that will replace gambling. Friends, relatives, and loved ones are a great help to keep addicted gamblers from coming back to gamble.

While moderate gamblers will find it easy to give up gambling because they have not developed the habit yet and they are not addicted yet. These people can quit on their own.

I think I can quit on my own whenever I wanted to quit gambling. I am not that addicted to gambling.

Gambling is a habit so difficult to stop
But not impossible. If you do some search I am of the opinion that you will still find people that have stopped the so difficult habit with help and discipline. Stopping has to be a strong resolution, something that you are determined to do. If you know stopping gambling will be difficult to achieve, you can reduce the number of times you gamble, till when you can go some days without considering it, and then you make the final decision to stop since it has become possible to go days without it. Quitting is a gradual process.

You are right. It may take time and a lot of effort, but it is not impossible. It is always doable as long as you have the will to do it and a supportive community that will help you gradually get away from gambling.

Most times, people you see coming back to gambling even after declaring not to gamble again, actually wanted a real quiet not a break but then you'll notice it's addiction in action this time and not just the pleasures of gambling.
In cases like this, these set of persons actually need a counselor to help talk them out of this and to help them rebuild their minds because it takes a lot to fight and win the war against addictions.

I have also seen cases of people who after a very huge win that evidently changed their lives, still fall back to gambling and most times might end up frustrated if not checked or controlled because they might in some cases believe they know all it take to be successful in gambling and indulge more in reverse gambling which is financially and mentally not right for an individual.
The moment you find someone gambling so hard, please at every opportunity you have, try talking to them.

It's really difficult for addicted gamblers to stop gambling, I know some people that are addicted to gambling, after losing money, they will complain why they even used the money to gamble, they will always say they will stop gambling, any money they are having again, they will definitely use it for another thing more important, but don't be suprise whenever they are having money again, you see them gambling again, if you want to stop gambling as a addicted gambler, you will need God intervention and you have to be dedicated that you want to stop gambling and not just saying it alone. That's why I just think right from when you start gambling, you should just gamble for fun and not to have intention to make money from gambling.

I've been a gambling addict before and I've tried various ways stop myself from not doing gambling and to be honest it's a very hard thing to do. Quitting suddenly is a very hard thing to do and I know that most who are addicted into gambling will just comeback and still gamble again, It's just full of lies. The method which works for me and I hope that someone too is by taking a break. I've started scheduling my gambling session and trying to resist playing until the day on my schedule and weeks by weeks, I've noticed that the urge of me not playing is lowering down until I've realized that I can gamble within my schedule without the urge of playing on my breaks. I did see that my control on things has been improved since then and I've recover from the addiction I have.

Telling yourself to stop instantly wouldn't be effective because of the urge around you and in the near future, I'm pretty sure that you will play again and do the same thing as If you didn't make a change at all. It is highly recommendable to do little breaks from time to time, It works for me and there is a high chance that it will work on you. It will take time but it will be worth it if you are willing to change.

Like any other habits, they are definitely difficult to stop especially if you are somehow deep behind it. One of the ways in order to at least control your gambling addiction is by taking steps proactively (e.g. bring only a handful amount of cash when you visit a casino, explore different options and methods of entertainment, etc.).

Though there may be people who do gambling for fun, they actually are addicted also but not to a certain extent that they rely their livelihood for it. If you have problems in overcoming your addiction, seek help not only from your family but also from your peers who can refer to you some support.

I think that is the normal response that you will hear on gambling addicts, specially if they have big losses and they can't take it any more. But once they got the money in hand, they will simply go back and play again.

so it might be a gambling break is not equal to quitting. But again, that's what they head is telling their heart to say. And then flip the switch right away if they have that opportunity to gamble again.
Gambling addicts will definitely find it hard to quit gambling for good, they might say they’re ready to quit but IRL, they only need to take a break and then come back in gambling again if they become emotionally ready. However, if you keep your determination and have strong urge to really quit gambling, I believe it’s very possible. But it takes a lot of time processing before you can finally say you’re quitting for good.
Unfortunately, being emotionally ready to be able to quit gambling is quite hard to achieve for gambling addicts. They'll need to get over first their gambling addiction before they can even make permanent decision such as quitting gambling. How can they quit if they can't even control themselves at the first place? It is much better for these types of gamblers to focus on fixing their addiction before they can build up their determination and conviction to quitting gambling.

That's why before we gamble, we must have good self-control to stop on time and not lose a lot of money. But unfortunately, many people do not have good self-control so they continue to be tempted by the desire to win some money even though they have won. And if they really can stop at the right time, it means they have good self-control and even if they return to gambling another day, it doesn't matter to them because they can still stop whenever they want. And if they really want to stop gambling, they must have a strong will to stop gambling and not gamble again another day.

There is an addiction in gambling that gamblers can not just quit like that. To quit gambling is a thug of war that people can't just give up because their aim is always winning, even in the massive loss in the gambling process they still hope that, they will win big to recover all the lost so they are always continuously playing and hopping to win big. Most of them are addicted to gambling so it is part parcel in their system.
I only pray that God should intervene. And one funny thing is that, some of them that are deeply involved in gambling are also denying to be a gambler.

It is difficult for a compulsive gambler to quit smoking, but a break is important for gambling addicts that may help them maintain balance and financial stability in their lives. I've been in gambling for a long time but when I want to quit I can do so without asking for help. It's better when you want to quit, don't tell anyone!! but try to discuss your feelings.

When I actively and continue to gambling every day, I often say that. The cause was too big of a loss at gambling, so I aware had to quit but it couldn't be and it was difficult, I'm back to gambling but after that I've been able to manage my money to use in gambling. Use money can afford to lose.
Greed in gambling that makes us not quickly aware, curious and lose that made all of happen, It's difficult when you're addicted.

I suggest people to admit when they have gambling addiction as first thing to do. After that you should know addictions cannot be easily gone. You should start with little pauses instead to find amusement in different things. Like sports, music, art. These are also joy in life. When you start to feel 'cleaner' you may use longer breaks like one hour a week or month or something with gambling. Eventually you will find yourself in a totally good mind to completely leave gambling.

Acceptance will be the right step to conquering gambling addiction. It will be better to accept and admit that we have fallen for it so we'll know the best steps that we have to treat it. Some gamblers' urge to gamble is still curable and bearable while in some cases, gamblers need to seek professional help already.
We can't deny the fact that quitting gambling couldn't be done in a single night. It needs lots of courage and determination to quit. It's better to take one step at a time than lie to ourselves by saying we're going to quit and stop. We can do it little by little by focusing on other things that we'll help us grow and change our habits into something that will benefit us in the long run.

They don't care about it is quitting or a gambling break they will eventually go back to play, these words are not existing to people with a gambling problem, if they are going to use these are empty words, so don't believe they are taking it seriously, a compulsive gambler can't stop on their own they are deceitful and so if you have a friend that says he quit, take it as a joke.

most of the time when certain people lose money they tell themselves that they are going to stop playing to avoid more losses or even to rest but when they realize that without playing there is not much to do they go back to playing and that can even mean that the person is addicted or that the person is dependent on gambling, but there are cases where it is okay for the person to stop for a while and then go back to playing. in my case I always tell myself I'm going to take a break for a few days and stop playing for a few days. and sometimes I even go a lot more days without playing than expected. self-control is something very important

Any habit that is done excessively, will be very difficult to break.

this happens even with people who work a lot, it's hard to change when the person always does the same thing and doesn't change their routine, that's why I always make a point of taking a break in games so I don't have the same

The most important rule in gambling; not to have ambition.
It doesn't affect you badly to be addicted after not having ambition. If you gamble for fun, if you don't feel obligated to gamble, it's called habit. If you are gambling this way, you may not need to stop. Otherwise, it will be very difficult for you to completely stop gambling anyway.

I really understand what you say, your experience is our experience. almost all gamblers, will experience experiences that are almost similar. no matter how small or big the money that has been at stake, if you do not have self control let alone awareness and responsibility. then what will happen, they really will be trapped in their own habits.

If gambling is fun, then make it something fun with money that has been prepared to lose. if someone gets a win, consider it a bonus. Gambling is a fun entertainment activity, but without understanding someone will have trouble if they don't have good control. can have a bad effect, as you said in this thread.

the difficulty in quitting gambling is like the difficulty of quitting and leaving the hobby that we have always loved. I myself think gambling activities are just fun like a hobby. not a necessity but just like the sauce I pour in the sausage I eat. I can still eat sausage even without sauce. But I think everyone who gambles will definitely experience periods of addiction. But some are temporary (lost control) and some are permanent. sometimes I get out of control. usually happens when we want to quickly reverse the money that has been lost (cannot accept defeat).

Quitting sometimes is the real courage. In gambling, taking a break is a good idea especially if you are seeing or if it is obvious that you're losing way more than what you've earned. Think and reflect whether you are still enjoying the activity or are you being to dragged into it. Gambling as it sounds cliche, is addictive in its nature simply because money is involved. Therefore limitations should always be set everytime you are playing.

When it comes to quitting and taking a break; you decide for yourself when and what to do than to recklessly push yourself into something which would put your wellbeing to danger. But if you are enjoying it, maybe rest would be enough. There are just many players out there who doesn't know when to stop then complain eventually once losses became bigger. OP is on the right track.

This is a point that really happens to a lot of people.
Except for  people that take the act of gambling for fun who are really not affected by gambling so many people have uttered these particular quote noted above

Indeed gambling is one of the factors of addiction that is often faced by many people, not least many who fall into criminal acts are caused by defeats in gambling bets, it is difficult to act in real terms someone who is addicted to gambling wants to stop, plus that person is unemployed, it can also trigger gambling addicts to find it difficult to stop, even though many of them say this is the last one and it won't happen again, The biggest factor repeats gambling because of the economy.

In my understanding, all the will to stop returns to the individual in the way of thinking, to stop gambling completely, really have to have alternative sources of other activities, maybe this can help a little for those who say quit seriously.

It has come to my notice that these people don't actually know what to do. instead of saying that they have quit they should know that they are actually  going on a gambling break..

They use the word quit to make people around them believe that they will really stop, if they going to use the word break people around them will not take them seriously, there's really no difference between quitting and taking a break to a gambler because they will eventually play again, those are serious in quitting gambling are not saying this to other people, they say it quietly to themselves making it their mantra.

It has come to my notice that these people don't actually know what to do. instead of saying that they have quit they should know that they are actually  going on a gambling break..
same here, I've had people tell me that they are quitting gambling but you'll see them again after a week or a month and if I ask them what they are doing back, they usually say "I feel lucky". anyway, it's probably not that they don't know what to do, some probably really wanted to quit, but just like you said "Gambling is a habit so difficult to stop". these people that continuously fail to live up to what they have said needs help.

It is similar to the vices (alcohol and cigarettes) that people have difficulty quitting; when they do, it is usually because they are ill and were advised to quit by their doctor. It is difficult to stop without help from others, as I mostly saw, so it's better to seek help from professionals like psychologists or therapists to stop this habit only if it is already affecting you, your family, and the people around you. I am hoping for the best for those out there suffering from this.

Replace gambling with another hobby, hopefully, something that takes you outside and pressures you to do strenuous activities, it can be golfing, swimming, etc. I myself have replaced it with reading but that may not be for everyone else since reading has been a part of my life even before gambling came in so it was easy to adjust.

People honestly have no idea what to do to replace gambling because they don't have anything to do, or rather forgot about what they usually do. Even simple socialization can be a suitable replacement for gambling, it's all dependent on how you yourself set it. Maybe ask a friend for that small push as the start if you can't do it alone.

It depends on how they can treat gambling. If they want to have fun with gambling, they don't have to play for too long, and when they feel like they are getting fun, they should immediately stop and leave the gambling place before they are tempted to use their other money to gamble.

Not many people can say I am done with gambling, which makes many people sink into gambling until they become addicted to gambling. We must try not to be like them by always limiting the time and money we use for gambling so that we will not become addicted.
Most of the time it started with having fun but at the time they win, then they become motivated and start thinking that there is easy money in gambling that turns them to gamble more. Now, they become addicted, and sadly, they lose more.

What next? The more they gamble and lose, the more they aim to recover their losses. And in the end, they become broke and empty their pocket, and compromise their financial status.

What we call addiction is so powerful, it would take hold of people and control them to do what they have determined not to do. This is the case of the people you explain here. For gamblers to have concluded not to gamble again shows that they are losing money often through it, and this is unethical, but it is now a problem if they could not back the decision with strict actions.

Mind you, only two sets of gamblers would ever want to stay, those that win (it does not matter if it's regular) and those that do it for fun. If you are not in those categories and want to stop but having issues with that, then I advise you to seek external help, it's more effective.

I agree with your point. Saying to yourself, "I quit gambling forever", is not something I would recommend to do to anyone who's having problems with gambling(We don't talk here about people not inclined to gambling addiction, right? I mean, why should they quit doing what brings them joy and not harmful to them?) because you can briefly forget about your promise to yourself, make a bet or two, then you'll have this depressing thought, "I can never quit", and snap into another gambling binge. This is not what we want, right?

Instead of saying to yourself "I'm quitting gambling forever", say something like "I promise to myself to not be a victim of gambling. I promise to be a person who can stop at any moment, a person that can control himself". And then if you occasionally start gambling, you can remember that promise and stop, and not feel guilty about breaking your promise, but be happy about keeping it. But you have to have the strength to stop right away, of course.

Compulsive gambling is what shows that the person is becoming an addict. At the same time that person might attempt to hide money and details of transactions in order to cover up the gambling effects.

The dopamine rush that happens with addicts makes them gamble more and more, the only way to reduce this is to focus on things that they find pleasurable other than gambling.

It is not possible for every gambling addict to recover within a short span, it takes time, relapse is possible but quitting is possible. Family support goes a long way to cope with the problem.

Gambling is addictive, so that's why most people will comeback in the future when they're bored or get interested with gambling ads. But an addict must stop to gamble, many big casinos has offer self exclusion feature and you need to consult with a professional. It's not wrong to take a break especially if you don't have enough funds, it would be stupid if you get loan for gambling, this should be avoid for anyone else.
It's the worst i can advice someone to do, by getting loan because of gambling, anyone someone who encourage to obtain loan because of gambling, that person is not a good friend. The aspect of gambling addicted i believe that gambling can be quit weather you are addicted or not addicted. If you wants to be gambling exemption, the only thing you can do, is to leaving that party environment or you engaged in any support activities like table tennis and soccer exercise or swimming exercise.

This will only difficult if you are not willing to stop this. If you are living on unrealistic world where you believe that you can earn a lot of money on gambling and keep pushing to reach those goal then maybe you will fall in addiction which could make you hard to resist playing and control yourself to quit playing while you are winning.

So better learn to have self control first since for sure quitting will not be a problem to you.

I believe that part of that responsbility has also become from the part of the casinos themselves, especially cryptocurrency casinos because they would be very accessible to minors if they own some Bitcoin or altcoins. It's very different environment than casinos that accept credit card/bank wire deposits because credit cards are not issued to minors, and bank wires ask for the sender's/reciever's information.

Perhaps casinos should start building "Responsible Gambling" features, no? Features that can limit how much money you can bet per 24 hours/week, or how much to deposit per 24 hours/week.

Gambling is a habit so difficult to stop
On your own, you cannot, you cannot devise your own way to stop gambling once you are hooked you will want the dopamine effect daily, and that makes it hard to break gambling.

That's empty promises, gamblers are good at doing this, they are good at creating alibis and they have amnesia when it comes to their promises to stop, they always have that this is the last session.

I admit I have done that in the past, the urge to have another session is just too strong back then, and it took me a lot to stop the urge

When gamblers tell you that they are not going to make a bet anymore but in their mind, they are quitting for that day and will have another one tomorrow, so when gamblers tell you that they are going to quit, it's for that day but tomorrow is just another day of betting.

I think that is the normal response that you will hear on gambling addicts, specially if they have big losses and they can't take it any more. But once they got the money in hand, they will simply go back and play again.
What I see about gambling addiction is that it is somehow different from the addiction like smoking, drinking alcohol and fornication because in those, you can tell yourself that you want to quit but not quit. In gambling, addiction only confused gambling addicts to think they can make money from gambling, they will lose, lose and lose again. They will get tired and later still think that making money is possible until they realised their mistake after losing much more. But gambling addiction can take months to years before they will know that they have to stop gambling.

Involving in gambling doesn't necessarily mean that you can't withdraw over participating in gambling when you wishes, every man have a determination and ambition from my perspective over anything we engage ourselves either directly or indirectly, because i have seen a someone who is a gambling addicted who later rejected participating in gambling again, after he has calculates it's Lost and profit on gambling, it drops out gambling and till now it has not partake in gambling any longer. People have a decision making, when it comes of life achievement and the total things they lost.

so it might be a gambling break is not equal to quitting. But again, that's what they head is telling their heart to say. And then flip the switch right away if they have that opportunity to gamble again.

Except for  people that take the act of gambling for fun who are really not affected by gambling so many people have uttered these particular quote noted above
If someone is an addict, best is to quit gambling, or to just leave gambling for some months or a year. The day I decided to quit, I did not look back, I quit until I have control over it. I remember when I quit for a year, I started to gambling again and I noticed I lost and I quit again. Then I knew that I have control over it, but started to use small amount.

I had a friend, he was the first that lost huge amount of money to gambling, the money belongs to his mother living abroad. It was a disappointment when his mother needed the money but later found out the truth. He quit gambling till this day.

It depends in my opinion, especially those that gambling has thought a lesson will not want to gamble again. But supposing gambling as been taken as fun, quitting will never even come mind.

There are also people who have quit for real like me.I was an avid gambler before being completely addicted to slot machines. One time I hit such a hard loss that it took at least two days for me to recover to get up from bed and do something else.I promised myself that I will only play a small bankroll for fun in the slots once a week and if I get something I would be happy and quit and also if I lose this balance completely I would still be happy and quit because this is a very small balance compared to what I used to spend on gambling.
