That kind of posting habit may earn but when it comes to ranking up higher won't be easy. I have been a shitposter before and only want to earn merit but when I came across a thread about something people discussed but I don't know what I would do so, what I did is I research about the topic and at last I learned and I know what to post compared to copy paste, and telling opinions without understanding what it means.

I would also add that when you are copying directly from the article to put that text inside quotation marks, as that's the proper way to deal with verbatim copying. While copying big pieces of article and just sharing link in the end is enough to cover your ass from being reported for plagiarism, it's still not right and in my opinion is dishonest.

I've seen quiet a few of those  ( and not not just noobs ) not doing that part properly, whether due ignorance, laziness or simply wanting to appear that they wrote the whole thing by themselves.

It is what I think of

Quote
If you see a post looks lengthy and have good information but at end of it, poster leaves a source to a newsletter article, will you send merit to a poster?

Think:
- Fill up weekly post quota
- Try to copy & paste & source to earn merit
- Does a poster write about own opinion and discussion on the newsletter article?

I think about it after I see that topic and many newsletter article sharing posts were meritted and see another topic If you received a merit ...

They don't use Search and with one article or news there are bunches of topics will be created here for discussions.

I and I think many feel irritated, annoyed or shakes head at the little-no work in bringing articles, write-ups note from here and there into the forum raw as the saw it on the other site with out at least refining it with there own knowledge from it, knowing if its correct/of-help.
This is not my first time on this topic, I had made a topic about it
Try providing suggestions with summary
Newbies and low-rank member are to know that even if you can write out a whole article no matter how long it is from another site and hide under the canopy of putting the link, all the time then you not developing, it does not feel right.
We news on other site, also exciting articles, announcement, information on other site and think its going to be helpful here, thats good, but how we bring it makes it quality and better.

+ Read it first to the end: some Newbie-low rank can get over excited by the first lines or paragraph and with that desire to do something/stamp a ground on the forum can make them overlook reading the article to its conclusion, you always must read the article first to the end before bringing it here, it will help you to understand it and helping in properly bringing it to us.

+find-out if its outdated: articles, news, information mad more get outdated and new ones that may counter that one are pushed in, so there is a probability you can at the time be reading an outdated one although still exciting and interesting and outdated article can cause confusing, so you check out for that.

+ Probe the article: if the article is a guide, instructions or anything. You may want to probe it, if brought to the forum and no disclaimer then it exposes you, take-time to do this, know how actual it is.

+ Highlight or portion the article: it does not feel write shipping the whole article to the forum, newbies you can learn from others how they bring-in articles to the forum. You can highlight or portion it bit by bit or direct to your portion of interest and break it down how you excited about it or understand it, it makes it even tidy,
But amongst all always put the link
