Even after 5 yrs after the invention of Bitcoin nothing outstanding happened so that we can be boastful about the fact that we are moving forward.

a lot of outstanding things have happened in these years. you just have to look around instead of creating an alternative account and posting this.

Ethereum - Marginal probability of long term survival

and not to mention massive pump and dumps and the huge amount of premine.

Quote
DAO- On the verge of extinction

all i can say is embarrassment

Quote
Waves- No solid business plan.Uninformed practises.

much better than ethereum but still bad.

Quote
Litecoin,Dogecoin and other  cryptocoins- No large scale adoption of these coins.Didnt attract the masses.

at least all these other altcoins like LTC and Doge could survive without scandals.

Thats's right, Bitcoin is the best. However Litecoin and Dogecoin are also accepted and have some value IMO. So Bitcoin is the winner but it's not the single crypto which is accepted.

I think that the culmination of everything combined surrounding the project is something to be boastful about....There is a large volume of data, money, and labour invested into the technology and it is only going to increase in volume....I think the whole cryptocurrency  community is the real winner.

Bitcon is the king of cryptocurrency others just try to survive.Still no cryptocurrency come closer to bitcoin.bitcoin have a big future if it add to the mainstream. Its true some people rich very quick holding bitcoin.I think we need express bitcoin to more people if more people join in bitcoin then bitcoin will be unbeatable.

I interested to call bitcoin mother of the crypto coin because another cryptocurrency still alive until now cause bitcoin, and another just trying to became a crypto like bitcoin but they're less fast than bitcoin.
I agree with you man. Bitcoin is king and the other survives because of it. I think without bitcoin other altcoins wouldnt survive because only a few will buy them.
Bitcoin is one of the best crypto currency than other crypto.. if you think well altcoin is altcoin they will never replace bitcoin.
And we are making more benefits in bitcoin than the other..

If you compare Bitcoins progress with say the development of the internet and/or the automotive industry, we rocketed past their progress speed. Bitcoin has gone from a fairly unknown experiment to a Billion dollar business. We should not be under the impression that it would take only 5 to 7 years for it to go mainstream, because it's a big world out there and these things takes time. ^smile^

One killer App for Bitcoin and we are in the pound seats. ^heh^

Yes, Bitcoin is the leader among cryptocurrency, he has legs to stand on as opposed to others. Most altcoins rightly could be considered a bench. In fact, they do not provide any new features and available options can be easily implemented using the sidechain. Besides altcoins not particularly known.

Ethereum and DAO had some hack problems lately so I cannot consider them something that can fight their way up to bitcoin. Dogecoin is a fun crypto many people hold smaller amount of it just for fun and Litecoin is in the same price from quite some time now, not really big movements coming to bitcoin from competition so far. Its good for us who believe that Bitcoin is the only true cryptocurrency which can make our lives better so far.

Not so. While there are hundreds (if not thousands) of junk alts, there are a few which fill valid needs that Bitcoin can't. First, there are are privacy coins. Bitcoin is pseudonymous. Monero is private and untraceable. Then there are storage coins, like MaidSafe or SIA.

As someone else mentioned, BTC is still young. For as young as it is, it has made a sizeable impression already and will continue to get better. But like 99% of items/products, BTC really needs a marketing campaign. Most people either haven't heard of BTC or don't know what it is. A relatively simple way to increase BTC's name in the minds of people would be a 30-second commercial that states what BTC is and why it is better than banks, along with a URL for more info. It makes no sense that companies like Coinbase or Bitpay haven't done this...they'd only benefit, as would the BTC community.
It is just a shame that there's not a lot of marketing going around to sort of hype bitcoin. Someone should take the lead in doing a campaign to better introduce bitcoin to a wider, bigger audience. Market cap is still small and that makes the price easier to manipulate. We just have to be patient and wait for that one big event that would push bitcoin to mainstream consciousness.

I think that time will surely come. If we have enough wealthy players buying themself a certain position in Bitcoin, then they will use their network to get Bitcoin in their market as it will benefit them as well when the price goes up. In the meanwhile we as normal users can help too. Just make sure you tell people around you about what Bitcoin can mean for them as currency and investment tool. That's what I do.

Yeah, we have to wait, a lot of media, banks and government still don't accept BTC I wonder if they would call this a threat with them especially banks, I remember last year watching news here interviewing government financial secretary warned people to not invest in BTC. hope this will change soon.

We can not be boastful of having bitcoins. Today the price is good and may increase tomorrow but if we boast and the price goes down its a shame to all of us. But the fact that we are earning and bitcoin is moving on despite of the limited supply is a good reason enough to be cheerful. Hope bitcoin will move to another level in the economy so we can enjoy bitcoins more in the future.

I don't know, there are very few places where you can actually spend/use it. Seems most are just holding it thinking they will get rich in a few days. Almost all post on this board is nothing but spam for sig/post count.

There are entire threads counting up the thousands of BTC lost forever. I could go on.

What is it about BTC that makes it a winner?

Bitcoin is the only winner in the crypto world.

I think most of the people on this forum think their going to get rich some day by holding their coins. Which, in 5-10 years from today, it might happen. But most people don't put their money where their mouth is.

Most of the post on this forum is spam though. Gotta weave through it all to get to the real BitCoin talk and not just the "faucets, gambling, games, blah blah blah shit on here"

However, not every coin is trying to be bitcoin. There's a hell of a lot of shit coins out there. Most of them the developers hype, retards jump on board thinking they will get rich tomorrow, and the devs run off with money and the coins sit's and rots away.

Not all alt coins are like that though. Some unite and take their specific technologies and use them together to make a good ecosystem.
BitCoin can't do everything, it's only #1 because it was first, and has the most development.

To the bolded I would say that those coins do have strong communities and they do have some utility.  As for their long-term survival chances, I don't hold out much hope.  I would like to think that dogecoin would be around in 20 years, but it probably won't.  Bitcoin, most definitely, and it definitely is so far ahead of the other coins--it's not even close.  So I dabble in trading here and there, but my belief is only in bitcoin.

For a 6/7 year old currency that came out of absolutely nowhere and started at zero you're not impressed with the progress? man, you're hard to please.

last time i checked there were thousands of places where i could spend it.

what makes it a winner is trust. more people trust it than any other alternative and all this ethereum stuff goes to show how much can go wrong with unproven coins. it ain't going anywhere soon.
