In Canada, I've found the best method vice in person transactions is going through https://www.cavirtex.com/home.
Tends to be below mt. gox and Tradehill to buy BTC with interac money xfer, and other methods. They dropped their fees too, now something like .59%. I've been using them for a while to buy and sell BTC. Seems to work great
