Maybe the low posting rate of Junior Member comes from more actively reports from forum members. It is obviously that members at such rank usually make spam posts. Hence, when forum users more actively report spam posts, their posts (of Junior Member) will mostly be deleted, that in turn affects on general posting rate of Junior Member rank.
For higher ranks, they have higher posting rates (of actively posted users only), mainly because there are more campaigns for such ranks within last two or three months. So, they have posted more regularly.

fillipone, you missed it. When Bitcoin is high, more campaigns will be run, so bounty hunters will become more actively. Additionally, people tend to discuss more or fake-discuss more. In addition, you are right that it is just raw data, and not exactly reflects real things, but we can retrieve some basic descriptive statistics from it.

It's interesting that brand new member have significant gap with other ranks, since you only need to post once till you reach newbie rank.
I bet most of them are account who need to pay some amount of btc to continue posting on forums or account who simply forget the password or even username they type while register  Grin

The Highest number of User Is brand New . That means, Opening the account regularly but not being used. It's tragic for the forum. It is difficult to increase the rank at this time. So Accordingly, the amount of copper Member should have been higher. But it is not. Everybody is constantly opening new accounts. But the account does not give any assessment. It's tragic for all Btt User.

Could you explain the simple colorful calculation you made?
By the looks of it, it was, with regards to @suchmoon’s data: add 3 to Brand New, subtract 3 from Newbie, and finally wipeout altogether the Hero rank (not present).

<…>
The Average post per active user and rank, along with the % of active users are the most interesting ratios. One thing that I wasn't expecting is Jr. Members (19,83) to have an average posting per month that less than half of that of Heroes (49) and Legendries (40,32).

Newbies apparent low average posts per month ratio (7,62) is likely diluted amongst a large standard deviation. That is, there are likely many Newbie accounts that have posted very few posts, and a smaller (yet visible) set that have posted a lot. The former group, being likely larger, drives down the average a fair share.

I created some similar ratios back in early December 2018, and the ratios do seem to differ somewhat, specially on the Jr. Rank level (see Analysis – net posts created/destroyed in a month per rank).

From time to time I wonder how much this forum activity is correlated with bitcoin price.
Once we define in some way an active user (it might be users that posted at least one message in the last 30 day) it would be nice to have some sort of monthly statistics, in order to see if rising bitcoin price correlates with higher number of active users on the forum.
Correlation is not causation, but surely you can get some insight from there.

I thank DdmrDdmr for valuable suggestions. I made it. Here are results:

Note: Excluding all ranks like Founder, Staff, Administrator, Donator, Global Moderator, and VIP. Here are some results:

1. Percentage of active users per rank
The top five rank are:
  • Legendary
  • Hero Member
  • Junior Member
  • Copper Member
  • Senior Member

2. Average posts of active users per rank
The top five ranks are:
  • Hero Member
  • Legendary
  • Senior Member
  • Full Member
  • Member
There are huge gaps between Hero Member, Legendary, and Senior member ranks, at 49, 40.3, and 31.3 average posts per active users, respectively.

It seems that Newbies and Brandnews reduce their level of spamming (due to banned, nuked, or they lost hope to rank up, and then give up spamming). Despite of the percentage of active Junior Members per total users at this rank is 20%, that is not much significant lower than the figure of Hero Member rank, but average posts per active users for Junior Member rank is 19.8 compared to 49 for Hero Member rank.

Thanks a lot for the data and evaluations!
I am really surprised that there are so few active users overall. Quite interesting is that there is such a big difference between the number of Newbies and next level Junior. Also interesting is that the number of Junior Members is quite lower than the numbers of Members and Full Members. Does anyone have a plausible explanation for this Huh
Suchmoon, talked about it here and it makes sense
Pre-merit full members have airdropped merits and were able to keep their ranks while pre-merit juniors have been demoted to newbies.

What's the deal with the insane number of Brand News? Are they username squatters or what's the deal?
IMO, one person creates several accounts to promote their shit in here, in other words for SPAMMING.
Last few days I have reported several topics which have the same content but posting with brand new accounts.

Spot on, never really thought about it for a second.
It really depicts a clear picture of how the merit system stopped lower ranking spammers from ranking up back from the Newbie rank
Demotion on Junior Members whom did not get a single merit back to Newbies happened in September 2018. You can see full chronological history of merit system here.

Interestingly, when you add up all active users, Legendaries are less than 3% of the total population.

Isn't that great news lol, majority of the inactive legendary accounts were just spammers that spam their way up to end of the foodchain. The less than 3% we have now who are actively participating on the forum, their presence are been felt so we good here. Now we need more self-made legendary users to keep the forum healthy.

Really so surprised that the total number of full members and number of active full members is way more than the number of Jr members both in total and active.
I expected the Jr Members number to be at least closer to Newbie count since ranking up to the rank needs only just 1 Merit.
Pre-merit full members have airdropped merits and were able to keep their ranks while pre-merit juniors have been demoted to newbies.

A huge amount of them are only bots spammers ready to start the spam. We often have examples here on the forum when a botnet start the spam even with accounts created years earlier.

We will get a way better stats if anyone can add on those tables the number of permabanned accounts too but I don't know if is it possible to manage that stat without the admin power.

Just a few suggestions:

- Perhaps it would be better to express column "Average active-posting user per rank" as a percentage, allowing to see better the amount of posting members per rank.

- In addition, perhaps it would be better to express column "Average posts peruser per rank" based on the number of "users Who Posted" instead of "# of users". It seems more meaningful to express the post ratio in relation to those that post rather than those that exist per rank.

From the raw statistics, it seems that months after the birthday of both merit system and new rank requirements, massive spam has gone away. Lower ranks, like Junior Member, and Full Member are less actively posting than before, or they get banned/ nuked, or don't have interest to keep spamming because they feel that they can rank up.

Now, it is the era of Legendary, Hero, and Senior member ranks, those ranks in the top 3. Excluding Legendary rank, I doubt that most of posts made in Hero Member and Senior Member ranks come from non-self-made users and their shit posts. It is more interesting if someone can retrieve some figures (on two ranks, Hero Member & Senior Members) from users whom received less than 25 merits since Jan. 2018.:
- total posts made last month
- total users actively posted last month.

Sorry, the third column was not the number of posts, it's the number of users who posted. Here's the data with better column names and the actual number of posts:

I made simple calculation on average post per user per rank.

Excluding Administrator, Staff, Global Moderator, the top five ranks in average post per user per rank last month (from suchmoon's given data above) are:
  • Legendary
  • Hero
  • Jr. Member
  • Copper Member
  • Sr. Member

There are a couple of threads about various evaluations around the forum. Such evaluations are interesting because they give a better insight into the community. I would be interested to know the number of members by rank. If evaluable, also by activity. For example, how many members by rank were active in the last month?

Can anyone do such evaluations?
