I had client version 0.4.4.4, downloaded v0.4.4.6, it crashed when I run it so I deleted everything besides my wallet.dat file.
It now starts up fine and recovering the blockchain. Hopefully that'll fix the problem...

You probably got on a wrong chain and the checkpoint server spotted it and your client issued the warning. Deleting everything in your data folder except your wallet.dat should fix the problem unless you download the wrong chain again. Make sure you have the proper config file in your data folder.
