I guess use an x-ray to see if there are any weird chips at the base?
Probably have to scan every new cable before plugging them into your device. I guess it will be better to buy cables from good vendors other wise one will have to keep the one that initially came with his device in good conditions. I guess if it's wifi or bluetooth, the hacker might have to be in a close range so he might be able to control your device remotely. Though the case senerio might be rare, we just have to be careful and have it in mind as well. Anything is possible.

Or maybe a Wi-Fi scanner would be better for that purpose as you would immediately see some crazy network name with an extremely close range.

Same can be done for bluetooth, radio and other sorts of wireless technologies. If it can be tracked by the hacker then it can be tracked by you as well.

I don't know if this topic has been created here.

There is a new cable called O.MG cable sold by Hak5 and this company is know for selling hacking devices. It is like a usb cord for both Andriod and Iphone. They are like normal cables that you plug into your phones to charge your phone or transfer information from one device to another

but are actually hacking devices. Inside the USB end of the cable is a small, compact Wi-Fi connector that uses the Wi-Fi your device is connected to allow remote access to it. Once plugged in, a hacker immediately has remote access to your phone and it automatically keylogs everything you type, allowing the hacker to read everything you are saying, including in chat messages with other people, and even see your logins and passwords.

You should be careful not to use anyone's phone USB cable to charge your phone. Don't give out your USB cable to anyone apart from family members that you are staying together. Keep your USB cable properly after use, don't become vulnerable to hackers.

What is your advice on how one can prevent falling for this.
