Hello interkon,
I'm also new in the forums but not so new in crypto. You may have guessed your only option now, unless you get some ASICS, is scrypt or cpu mining some altcoins. That's what I'm doing happily now.
Trial and error is essential in this matters. I spent a lot of hours tweaking my cards to get a decent hash rate and reduce electric bills a bit. I recommend that if you can afford it, you buy some Radeon card with a decent hashrate like a 7950 or the new models R9 280, R9 290 (i bought an R9 290x). Extra tip: Get the Vapor-x or similar model, unless you want a big amount of noise and heat... also overheating decreases hash rate!!!
Cheers

Hello forum! And world!

I'm embarrassingly new to all things CryptoCurrency and have spent the last few days reading my way through interesting topics on the forum. Since I figured it might be helpful to be able to reply to specific posts if there's ever something I want to say, registering now seemed like a good idea.

At the moment, my approach to learning more is mostly to do the virtual equivalent of poking things with sticks, to see what happens (i.e. running cudaMiner and laughing at my hash/s, and following the BTC and LTC exchange rates). Hopefully I'll be able to understand more of the arcane workings of Bitcoins before civilization ceases to exist.
