I've got that same 8 gpu onda board sitting right here. Still waiting on my case from china for it and some more gpu's. I have booted it up and installed windows on the ssd and it was super easy to get going. Tried to fit it in the octominer case with no luck due to it being a bit bigger all the way around, but I prefer this one to the 12 gpu one since the connectors are better positioned.

Wow thank you both guys for the useful info right here!

Do you think I can order only one board from that alibaba link for testing? Because it says minimum order quantity 10.

Also can I fit a Sapphire 580 Pulse on the slot which is blocked by the ATX connector?

I guess the Onda B250 is much more affordable in my situation then.

the zotac 1080ti mini fits let me check its length

pulse = 230mm

zotac = 219 mm

I will say  the zotac has 25mm room

so the pulse at 230 would fit.

I think any card under 235mm fits

Thanks for the measurements, very helpful!!

I already made an order with octominer, but now I'm not so sure anymore and I think I'm going to cancel it.

Now that hiveOS supports 3 rigs for free, I'm beginning to like the extra 4 PCIe on the onda. Smiley

I dont have an Onda to compare, but I have been running an Octominer setup with 5 cards (2x 1080ti, 3x 1070ti) for several weeks now with Windows 10 and Nicehash and the responsiveness of this setup has been fine for me. The one issue that i did encounter was that when i used a USB WiFi adapter, the browser would be unworkable while mining. I have since switched to Ethernet and that issue has gone away. I can also confirm that remote management also works fine on the Octomobo.

FYI you can get a no brand board that's almost identical to Octominer for $140 before shipping: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Original-Factory-2018-New-Products-Intel_60730138713.html?spm=a2700.8443308.0.0.4f963e5frg0Bh7

I got one for testing. Also bought many Onda B250 from this seller. Aside from the mobo atx connector blocking long cards I really like it. But if you run linux the first board should be fine, IMO only 2 advantage of Onda is

- Ability to run 12 gpu
- Can choose your own cpu

The mobile soldered cpu is too weak for windows, even my celeron g3930 takes a few minutes for some miners to get to 100% hashing speed and it's way stronger than the i7 3855u mobile cpu.

Belongs in altcoins mining I asked mods to move it.

I have multiple eight slot boards.

The Onda B250

Can use an i7 cpu with a 16gb stick of ram. And it can run Windows 10 using the CPUs intergrated graphics

And the boards hdmi jack.

I don’t like the short slot on the B250 the first slot needs a zotac 1080ti.

I don’t like that the B250 uses three sata and three molex which means a high end atx.

I can run 8x 1080 ti on the board but need to set the cards to 160 watts not to overload the atx psu.

So the B250 for me ends up running 6 1080ti hybrids set to 200 watts

My other eight slot is a k17 like octominer.

It allows for 8 hybrids set to 200 watts with a server psu.

But spaced tighter it tends to over heat.

It allows for any cpu and a 16 gb stick of ram

I have found 6 Evga 1080tis set to 200 watts work well.

Just about equal to the Onda B250

Octominers comes ten days.

I will test with 8 1080tis at 200 at 150 watts I will test at six with 200 watts.  I like the server option.

I want to get a riserless board for my rig, but I cannot decide between these two boards.

Octominer vs Onda B250

The pros of Octominer:

1. Built-in CPU
2. Energy efficient CPU
3. Better Support Afterwards

The pros of Onda B250

1. Better chipset
2. Can replace CPU
3. Has additional 4+ PCIe ports which makes it 12 GPU mainboard

So where I live, I can get the Onda B250 + Celeron 7th Gen CPU at the same price as Octominer. And I can buy them quicker, because the seller is local.

What do you think should I go with the Onda B250 or Octominer? Any other pros/cons which I haven't mentioned? Can someone who has tried both tell me whether the Onda B250 has slightly more space between GPUs? It seemed that way to me from the pics and specs, but can someone confirm it?
