More follow up they gave six coupons good value coupons 350 usd.

Since I still have gpus I decided to buy a case using the $350 coupon. so a 600 dollar case became

$356.80 with shipping to me in New Jersey. Gear was in stock I ordered it on August 9th

Took cheap shipping and it was due in 30-40 days which would sept 9 to sept 19

It is now 60 days Oct 10.  I will post to let you know if they send me a case or a refund.

This is more concerning as it is one of their main products a GPU case.

Well serves me right for giving them a chance to show they are back on track.

Bummer. Keep us updated on the case. If it goes well will you be ordering more of them or do you have some coupons to spare for a fellow miner who has never owned a GPU rack/case before? Maybe I could stop stockpiling PCs if I were to switch to something like this. My office is starting to look like a PC cemetery.

they finally sent me one it had 3 dead psu's in it and 1 good one. But cost was 356 it works fine after I grabbed replacement psu's for 11 a piece on ebay.

So 356+33 = 389 for a fully working case. It earns 2 bucks a day and free heat.

Sorry for double post.

Was told that order is cancelled and I will be refunded.

9 days later no refund.

original order

So an established company that has done over 14000 orders has held my coin since Jan 24th promised a full refund on July 5th and is yet to pay it.  So Octominer is a fail as of now. Hoping to get a refund and let you all know they refunded me.

This is one more reason to delete the guy that is doing a startup that posted on this thread.

If an established company acts the way they did to me a person that purchased 13 octominer racks from them just think what a startup may do.

I will continue to post in this thread until refunded ( fingers crossed).

This looks to be ideal for the home miner with use in someone's garage or basement.

Not to sure I would put this in the living room however.

Wish that my residential power was cheaper, I'd be a buyer if it was!

Hello everyone,

We're excited to announce that our flagship product, the CoolTank 75KW, is now ready for manufacturing. This advanced immersion cooling tank is set to revolutionize the cryptocurrency mining industry.

They emailed me yesterday and offered to refund my 2000 dollars and gave me a coupon to buy other gear from them.

Once I get the 2000 I will buy a gpu rig as it will be decent gear at a good price if gpus ever mine well again.

I will post my usdt address here

0xafBf615123aD56Cf08fCa0F5987FbCbb4DAc2C6B

this is an erc-20  address on my coinbase account.

hope to see the funds soon.

Does this mean they are completely scrapping the immersion cooling product? Did they confirm to you that it was issues with shipping or was it issues with the product itself that has cause this failure to deliver? I really hope somebody get this product figured out because I’ve wanted to go immersion cooling for over half a decade now.

here is yesterday's letter.

@philipma1957 any news? How are the Octotank? Loudness, Cooling?

zip no gear no part refund for the delay .

pretty much a bust.

Man, that’s sucks to hear. This is the sort of solution I’d love to see become a reality. It would really be great if there was a way I could mine in up to 115 degree heat using some sort of device. That way I would feel comfortable leaving it outside in the desert to take advantage of our sweet sweet cheap nuclear energy.

I will keep every posted.

I am hoping to be able to distribute these on the east coast.

As OG said shipping may be a real mofo so if we do start a partnership with them we will need an good understanding of how to ship one and set one up.

It seems like they underestimated the difficulty and cost of shipping these and might be trying to figure out how to streamline their shipping methods to make sure you get it in one piece without them having to raise the price. Just my feeling after seeing their message. I look forward to seeing the results and I’ve always thought solar and immersion cooling was the combo everyone should have.

I went for sea shipping as air shipping was $500 more

I did 1500 + 500 = 2000 all in

If I did air 1500+1000 = 2500

We wanted to test before comment to a container or a ½ container of them.

Oh well.  Still waiting as of today.

I’m looking forward to seeing how this all looks and your feedback once it’s installed. I just wish the cooler could operate in a little warmer temperatures. If it could handle being in 120 degrees then it would be absolutely perfect for operating out here in the desert. I hope these products continue to evolve.

These Octotank folks seem to be focusing on home-style coolers only, so I wouldn't be expecting much from them, however, there are many other solutions for places like deserts > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V--cCFr6ng8

Still waiting I would like to get it by May 5th

Did they give you any valid reasons for this months-long delay?

Let me look at last email they sent me.

this is dated April 18th:

Hi Philip!

Thank you for your support! I'm happy to hear that you have used our GPU rigs previously and were satisfied with them.
We will be having an update shortly regarding Octotank 12. We did several improvements and upgrades on the product that make it more versatile to use and easier to ship. We will be doing an update with the exact details and shipping dates within the week.

Happy to work more closely with you regarding your plans to sell them to your solar array customers. Alex from our team can help schedule a call for next week, so we can discuss it in more detail.

Thank you for your reply. I sent a cc to my partner and will contact him via a phone call today. Once we test and demo the cooler we can determine if and when we make it available to our solar customers as a home heater and water heater.

Best regards

And a 1 month delay for the octominer cooler is the new schedule.
So Feb-28 to March 31 window 🪟 is now March 31- Apr 30 window.
May come it time to use for heating buysolars home pool.

This sucks, and by the way, I think the basic version of this tank does not come with a heat exchanger, which means you can't re-use the heat generated by the miners, my understanding of immersion cooling is that there are two types, a single loop, and a dual loop, the tank you bought looks to be using a single loop, the miners are soaked into the liquid, a pump sucks in the liquid from the top of the tank into the radiator /dry cooler, gets cooled down, and sent back to the bottom of the tank.

Using this setup, you have no way to redirect the heat to a place like a swimming pool, but can be used to heat a living room or whatever space that dry coolers blow hot air against.

The second type would be dual loop cooling, this setup uses a heat exchanger, which has 2 inputs and 2 outputs.

1- Input from the cooling liquid.
2- Input from the water source (swimming pool or whatever).
3- Output of the now "cooler" liquid to be sent back to the tank.
4- Output of the now "hotter" water to be sent back to wherever you want (the swimming pool again).

So basically the heat exchanger will take the heat from the liquid cooling and transfer it to the water without these two mixing together, you can probably build your own tank that does this, since you are located in the U.S and that's where most of the good grade cooling liquid is made, the concept is rather simple at least on paper.

-A tank that can hold 2 Whatsminers (can be made of glass or some strong metal).
-50-60L of cooling fluid (probably costs 300-500 for a good grade).
- A small pump.
- A heat exchanger.
- A dry cooler.

Of course, the final shape and those LEDs and fan control come at an extra cost, and they will be some trial and error, so a ready-to-use tank like the one you use has some merit, I would just confirm with them that it comes with a heat exchanger aka "dual Loop" system so that you guys can actually use it to heat the pool.

Still waiting on the cooler.

Meanwhile your 2x m30s and 2x m50s are doing well.

That middle hash board is more than a little low, don’t be surprised if you come in and find “SM1 loss balance” one day. you should actually go into “miner API log” and take note of which chip is acting up. This will make the repair easier later on. I’m still here to help you whenever you need.

That is good news then, you will be limited by the PSU's max limit which I believe is 3800W, so for your two M30s+ you should get anywhere between 110th to 115th without going past 3700W on each, so that be a total of 7400w which is slightly above 50% of the tank, and 220th-230th.

For a medium sized house, with the correct engineering, those 25k BTU hour should keep the house warm in the winter, while generating nearly 500$ monthly, not sure how much folks there spend on heat during the winter, you are going to have to run a lot of maths.

Okay this below is 'normal' with a 3050 watt cap

Yes, you want to keep the power mode on normal when setting a power limit on the miner, it's almost impossible to bring the miner to an exact figure, so your 3050w limit will usually be slightly less, a few watts here and there, also, the power consumption on the tool isn't 100% accurate, so make sure you use a wattmeter to get the exact correct number.

I would also look for a different tank, 6kw is too much for Antminer and a bit on the low side for 2*Whatsminer, but at the end of the day, the lower you go on these Whatsminer the more efficiency you gain overall.

Also if the project kicks in and you want to sell the package as a 200th miner you would want to get the M50, they range between 25w/th to 28w/th, the lower the more expensive of course.

The M50s 110th 28W would be a good pick, it should do 110th at 3080w default, so if you want it to stay at 2900w (to not go above 5800w for the tank) it will do 103th or a total of 206th for the tank.

Meanwhile, keep in mind that you will remove fans in the tank, the reading on the wattmeter will take the fan readings too, the fans in the pics you posted are running close to full, they consume about 85w each at full speed (7k rpm), so the reading on Whatsminer tool will be a lot more accurate when the miners run in the tank.

I don't mind if I am short of 200th and end up selling a 180th machine burning 5800 watts.

The key with the unit I am using is it is a 2 whatminers piece. The cooler has the ability to heat in the winter and warm a pool in the summer. My partner "buysolar" has been doing solar setups in New Jersey for 20 years. We may work the angle a few ways.

Also we may do a single whatsminer m50s+ overclocked if they supply a proper psu to do that.

https://www.whatsminer.com/src/views/product_details?id=15&name=WhatsMiner%20M50S+

what matters down the road  is how good the cooler is. It could be a bust.  which is why we got the m30s+ to test it just in case we don't like it.

what I have found interesting is:

'normal' and 3100 watts = good
'normal' and 3050 watts = good
'normal' and 3025 watts = testing now>>>> edit :

 now doing:

unit 1 >>  92.509 th 32.56 watts a th and 3011 total watts
unit 2 >>  92.490 th 32.62 watts a th and 3017 total watts

'normal' and 2950 watts = fail
'normal' and 2900 watts = fail

this is not to complain but may mean the cooler will struggle with 2 m30+ on normal and 6100 watts.

Typical designed just a bit wrong and yet they push 2 whatsminers as a fit with the cooler.
Likely need a quart more liquid and a little bit bigger radiator to be perfect

now on low setting I did 88 and 2875 watts which is 32.67 and 2 of them would be about 5750 watts.

so low setting may be needed for the coolers.

I will post back to see if I can play with settings a bit more.

Maybe with a day of burn in I can set lower than 3025 watts on normal.

Okay this below is 'normal' with a 3050 watt cap

total of 6100 watts

which would be too much for the  cooler if it can do 6000 advertised number.

Keep in mind the low power mode will tune every miner differently, also, inside the tank temps will be a lot lower and thus the tuning might go higher because it does use temp as a measure of how low/high the frequency goes.

Long story short, using the power limit is safer when you really want an exact watt per miner.

First one is powered up on normal. 96 th as you can see the middle board is a bit low.

but not running for a long time. I will give it a 3 hour run on normal then test low and high speeds.

My thanks to mikeywith for helping me to get this

Glad they arrived, you can not test the high with air cooling, low will work fine and cool, also you can download whatsminer tools and set power limit for each miner, like 3000w it runs a lot cooler with reduced hashrate.

I will likely set them to 2800 watts as the cooler is supposed to do 6000 watts max.

update. I set to normal speed and used the whatsminer's tool to lower watts to 3100 or less.  results below:

So I save 300 watts and drop from 96.0 to 93.8.

2 at this setting would likely be to hot for the cooler.

but I do know that setting on low does 88.1 and 2850 watts which would be good for the cooler as 2x2850 = 5700 which is under the coolers 6000 watt spec.

That looks cool!  I'm very intrigued at this minimalist immersion cooling setup.  It's what I've been wanting for a long time possibly.  I'm looking forward to reading more about the experience and your take on it.  I wonder how this compares to a liquid cooled Antminer.  I see that it can operate in 104 degree environments which leaves it just out of reach for being outside in the summer where I live, but I think for people living in most places this might be a decent outside option.  Nice find.  Now to wait for some pictures.  Smiley

This looks to be ideal for the home miner with use in someone's garage or basement.

Not to sure I would put this in the living room however.

Wish that my residential power was cheaper, I'd be a buyer if it was!

It has a lot of options.
It can hook up to your pool in the summer.
It may be able to heat hot water tanks.

Our mine has 100kwatts of spare power. if a tank pulls 6kwatts we could do at least 12 maybe 15 tanks.

Thus 12 x 200 = 2.4ph

And if we use m50s++

12 x 250 = 3.0ph
