I have seen this happen on iPhone/iPad as well. Sometimes it regurgitates not just the emoticons, but other images (such as the W3C ones at the bottom of the screen).
The problem is with your shitty iPad, not with the forum.

Yeah, the mysql and the PHP images at the bottom still glitch out, among other things.

Pretty strange. I have no idea why it would do that.
I get this (or a smilies army) in my Safari browser with my iPhone 4/iPhone 4S. And the avatars are messed up too. Frickin' irritating IMO.
