I'm guessing that documentation states that only standard WIF is expected and compressed WIF?
Electrum supports both compressed and uncompressed private keys.

If I understand you correctly, your paper wallet address was associated with uncompressed format of your private key and you imported the compressed format of your private key.
If that's the case, it should be like loading the unsinged transaction in a wallet which doesn't contain the required private key.

I just created an unsigned transaction and loaded that in a wrong wallet to see what would happen.
Electrum displayed a message saying "Something went wrong while executing Electrum. To help us diagnose and fix the problem, you can send us a bug report that contains useful debug information:"

Thanks for the responses.  Good to know about the output log function.  That will be very useful!

I found my issue.  I had imported the private key in WIF compresses format rather than standard WIF.  I re-did with standard WIF import and it worked fine.  Not sure if this should have crashed the program, but just glad I was able to make it work!  I'm guessing that documentation states that only standard WIF is expected and compressed WIF?  If not, maybe this is still considered a bug.  Just glad I was able to figure it out.  Thanks for the help!

I'm pretty new to using electrum so I may overlooking something pretty simple here. Any suggestions or does this look like a bug on electrum side?
Switch on the logs, then reproduce the crash to see if it'll catch the issue.

Go to "Tools->Preferences->Misc" then tick "Write logs to file", restart Electrum.
After purposely reproducing the crash, go to 'logs' folder inside electrum's datadir (location).
Open it and see if there's some error written there.

For some reason, this image isn't loading.
I forced to download it from source and re-uploaded it to talkimg if it wont also show to others:

You can also try the "From text" workflow instead of '.psbt' file.
Use "Share->Copy to clipboard", paste that to a '.txt' file, transfer to offline, copy it and load with "Load transaction...->From text".

Thanks for the response.  I believe I did a signature verification on the app, but will re-do to make sure.

For some reason  the camera does not detect the QR code from the offline side so I have to use the USB.  I can try under different lighting and see if that helps.

What words are sent in the transaction?  The labels for addresses, send description, wallet name?

Also, as for as I can tell the update is the latest: 4.5.8?

If you’ve been actually using that electrum app then I don’t think it might be a bug but for certainty you can just try to update the app then. I don’t see why it keeps crashing. If the device can both use camera why not try the QR code transfer format, note this same format will be giving error message if the words are big and can’t fit due to large transaction file

I am trying to transfer btc using online/offline computer transactions. The single private key form a paper wallet is loaded on the offline side. The public key is loaded on the online side and the addresses to move to is loaded in the send tab. I then create a transaction file to move to the offline side for signing. When the file is read by electrum it crashes it every time.

I have used this flow to move some other btc from paper wallets with no issues. For some reason with the paper wallet it is causing issues. I have attached images of the generated transaction and the loaded public address in the address tab to show what is being done.  Does the transaction info look like it would cause any issues?
