OH MY DOGE!

by BitkoinMama for bitcoinwoman.com

You may (not) know that you can become a proud owner of Bitcoin (or its fractions) in 3 ways:

- Buy from exchanges, such as https://www.bitstamp.net/  (beware of Mt.Gox) or from  www.localbitcoins.com

- Sell your products or services for Bitcoin

- Mine

Mine? Yes, mine as in mining. You know, you take a pick and smash your husband's computer into Bitcoins. DON'T YOU DARE! You may find yourself homeless, if alive.

Mining, in my understanding, is validating bitcoin transactions by the means of special software which solves incredibly complicated mathematical equations. Phew!

Mining takes a lot computing power, so expect high electricity bills. Miners are rewarded for their work with bitcoins, which number decreases with time. The reward halves every 4 years and in 2016 it'll be 12.5. We started mining in early 2013, which wouldn't have obviously happened without my beloved geek and partner in crime. He built a simple miner of 4 x5870 ati graphic cards and considering that the mining difficulty was 350 times easier, it was a good effort......This miner is not only a brilliant heater, but also laundry and tomato drier Smiley. Yes, we have started designing a Food Drier (dehydrator) of which draft is still available for anyone who wants to continue the project. No-one? Perhaps this explains why it is still in development.
