If you want to involve luck into mining sign in ozco.in and mine on POT. Yesterday my 400MH/s Lancelot found nice 2M share and paid 0.0028 BTC instead of 0.00000009 normal share...
Good luck.

I don't get it, the difficulty is 500million what do 2M share do?

POT is a payment type that rewards for solving higher difficulty shares.  If you beat the current difficulty you get 25BTC + fees.  Say you solve a 10 million dif share, the pool kind of pats you on the back by paying you more for that share (even though they get nothing for it).  Of course they have to skimp somewhere so regular shares a worth a lot less.  Kind of like PPS on a curve.

I believe only Ozcoin had it (recently removed).

I've started solo mining on an old clunker PC with three RedFuries over the weekend.

As I figure it, mining is all about luck. The chance that I can solve a block with a red fury (or even a block erupter) is the same whether i am in a pool or solo.

The only difference is that if my miner solves a block whilst in a block, i get next to nothing for it. I keep earning a trickle of income regardless.

On the other hand, even if after six months I am able to get a single block in solo, I will be laughing all the way to the bank (my wallet, actually).

So here is to all those brave souls who are out there.

I promise to come back to this thread if I hit the jackpot. If someone else is successful before me, do post here.

Well, look at the network hashrate and compare to the hashrate that you have.. it should be about 0.000000001 depending on your hash rate....

Yes! I've joined in the solo mining fight, with one BE. Still having fun with pushpool, but I think I'm more or less set up.

Im going to solo with three jallies I ordered if they ever show up. Same idea... nothing or big, that's the way to go.

Maybe worth a shot to team Mine. Get a few buddys you trust/ trust you, and mine hit a block and share with friends. I know you prolly want the whole block to yourself but nobody wants to wait a year to get paid once. Then get paid again 6 years later

LOL as in pool mining.
pool- random # people, random hash power. One person always benefits more.
team- You know and trust the few you team up with.  Share block equally, 5 person team 5 btc each.

So a pool, kinda, maybe one of them little kiddy pools from walmart. Just big enough for a few people and a fart.

Just like dodge ball, there will be high power and low power teams. Even the small kid with the helmet wants to be part of the team. Most people will only want power players, Some may be kind and pick up slack for others.

I got a few BE's soloing, Only 5 (1.6GHs) For about a month now, Nothing yet LOL  Roll Eyes

I once did that and gave up trying after trying for a month...

It definitely doesn't hurt to go solo with something like USB BE's, or even a blade, especially if the electricity was already being used. Honestly for someone who wants the least investment with the best potential payout, the best bet is to do exactly that.. grab a few USB BE's or a blade and just let them sit and work.

I've been going solo a few times lately with my equipment. Here's to hoping.

Mining solo is a perfectly valid choice which is quite underrated. I'm mining solo with my 6 usb erupter simply because I don't care about the small profit I would make with pool mining.
So I rather take my chances with solo mining. The biggest share I found so far is only 8.5M but I don't loose my hope, and it's fun to check every morning if there is a "surprise".
Obviously I'm also still fully contributing to the bitcoin network, whether I will mine a block or not.

Good choice, but isn't it better to sell it away while it still have values?

Damn, what a pain in the ass it has been trying to make it work.

I'll try tomorrow (sunday). If I can't make it, screw this

What trouble are you having?  Setting up solo mining is very easy.  I thought you were using a couple GPU's?

I pointed my 19-20Ghs at my Bitcoin-QT .85 and it worked fine.  It leaked shares on block changes but the rest of the time it seemed to keep my hardware busy.
I was unable to generate the .bin's for any kernel. It took me a while to figure out that I had to do one at a time, i.e. disable card at the Device Manager. Then I made it, but the cards started mining at high voltage (wtf!?), risking to toast the GPUs or the PSU (which already happened before I bought the Corsair)

Finally, the miner isn't unable to connect to the rpcport of bitcoin, while it had no trouble when I solo mined 2 scrypt coins.

In the middle of this and to had to the mess, the wireless dongle crapped out.

Tomorrow I'll try again for the last time. If it works, I'll provide an URL and password for VNC viewer  Smiley
