thanx guys, that is what I like to know - with all those money, they should do every necessary job to go from 1.0 -> 2.0 so normal user with metamask wallet doesn't have to do anything. make sense

Nah you no need to anything if you are a normal ETH user or holder it will be automatically setup with ETH 2.0 But if you are developer then You should read the site below.

Tbh it will bring a lot of things to make ETH platform more scalable secure and sustainable. There is no doubt this update will make huge change in ETH. Market will also affect so much.

do we need to do something when we have a few ETH wallets with a few ERC-20 tokens on it? or it will automatically goes to ETH2.0? (in Metamask wallet)

just asking to be sure, thank you
Nothing threatens your tokens. There is no detailed information yet on how the migration of coins and tokens from ETH 1.0 to ETH 2.0 will take place.
Up-to-date information is available on this website
https://ethmerge.com/
"Between April 16th and May 14th 2021 ETHGlobal will be hosting the Ethereum virtual scaling Hackaton. The Eth1-Eth2 merge is one of the projects which will be worked on during the hackathon.
Depending on the result of the prototypes being built during the ETHGlobal Hackathon and the first results of the first Eth 2.0 PoS hard fork, a decision will be made (in June 2021) on whether or not the Eth 1.0 PoW "Shanghai" hard fork will focus on Eth 1.0 Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) or if "The Merge" will become the top priority. The Shanghai hard fork is currently expected to take place in Q1 2022."

I tend to agree above and there's nothing to change because that's the same network, even though they added shard chain and docking upgrades but it will not have an impact on what you've holding assets either if that is an ERC-20 token.

Actually you need to burn your ETH to receive ETH2.0 into your wallet which is still not allowed for normal holders so you no need to do anything now. When ETH2.0 reaches final phase all you need to do is to send your ethereum to their smart contract address then you will receive your ETH2.0.

You will not need to change anything. ETH to ETH2.0 will be a smooth switch for holders. In fact, we're already in the middle of it as we speak.
