The telegram bot is registered text based,
Gotten idea how it will work. If the old username is still registered with the bot, it will notify the old username, otherwise the new as both can't be notified simultaneously unless you register two accounts. Thanks and thread locked.

Hello;
AB De Royse777,
The Sceptical Chemist,
Igebotz and others who got their usernames changed by theymos. If you use trininja telegram notifier, do you get notified if your former username is mentioned in the forum?

They should receive it. When setting up your telegram bot although it asks for your user ID and name, the user id is used to track your merits and mentions. Also recall that our user Id doesn't change even if you change your username. So yes they will get notified even if they don't track their old names .

The bot only uses your username to refer to you and inform  if you are quoted but user ID to track you.

@Tryninja sir, I still didn’t try if the bot will work if you input different UID to a username. Will the bot gives you a notification from 2 accounts?
I didn't explore the source codes of the bot yet, but i feel like the registered username will be used only for mentions, and the UID will be used for parsing the profile, like merit page and profile page since the profile urls are based on UIDs.

As i have tried to register "theymos" as the username and the uid were from Tryninja (557798).
But when i give merit to Tryninja and Theymos, i received a notification from the bot of the received merit only for Tryninja. So yeah, i'm correct.

As far as I know, in case you enter different UID not belonging to the actual username bot will track the UID. And someone will correct me if I am wrong but I don't think that its possible to get merit/mention notifications for 2 accounts.

The telegram bot is registered text based, which you need to input your username for you to get notified when someone mention you or quote your post, actually you can register other usernames too. If the registered btt username in telegram is your old btt username and it was mentioned or quoted by someone then possibly you will still receive a notification. Until you changed it, or use the track phrase with your old or new username instead.
True but that's only if members were to mention their old user names and for what reasons? And when users changes names on the forum, just few members would recognize their old names( those are members who were on the forum before the changes were made). I have tried searching before for old user names using ninjastic.space but it's not possible. Let's wait though for the above mentioned to reply and share their experience.

There’s a feature on the notifier bot that allows you to track a phrase or track user(I’m not sure if this will work) so that you will be notified incase someone mention that exact phrase on this case their old username.  These user that change username probably track their old username for the mention in case someone still doesn’t know their new username.

As @PX-Z said, Telegram bot will just notify you based on what you set during the startup.

Only when username is newly changed as members are not used to it. I even still using "Royse777" disregarding the "AB de" when talking/mentioning about him/her.

It's not possible because user's profile was parsed so many times already changing all its past records/posts. But you can still find them via the post content search, this includes the quoted old usernames of the users.

It is about those bots, from third-party developers, not from forum so it does not belong to Meta.

Forum members can notice changes and know about username changes by themselves. Officially notify about it is not encouraged.

Why are you guys posting the old names of people who clearly needed their names changed for privacy reasons? Obviously any data posted online is going to be quickly archived somewhere, but that doesn't mean that your highlighting/reposting of it has no effect. In some cases you may literally be putting lives in danger. If you were investigating a scam or something, that'd be different, but you seem to just be indiscriminately & recklessly dredging up data that would best be forgotten.
