thanks to all guys. One more thing, is it ok if I install a new electrum wallet in my other laptop?

That is not a problem, even if you want to import your existing wallet over there (though there is really no need to do so).
Btw, you can already use Electrum, just select the server manually. Find the best server that can connect easily to your Electrum. And don't worry it is safe to do so.

I am on Windows, but I guess there is no big difference when updating Electrum on Mac. When you say : "log out from old account", you mean on Electrum wallet? There is no need to remove old wallet, just download new wallet file from link I posted above and follow the instructions :

  • Download Electrum - Executable for OS X -
  • Expand the downloaded .dmg. - For OSX on a Mac, find the downloaded .dmg file (e.g. a file named "electrum-3.3.4.dmg"), double click on the .dmg file to expand it into a Electrum executable file, drag the expanded Electrum software into 'Application' folder on your Mac and the installation is completed.
  • Launch Electrum - Please note, for security concern, to launch an application you downloaded from the Internet for the first time, by default Mac would not let you open it by double-clicking. If you trust the source where you downloaded Electrum, in order to launch the Electrum wallet for the first time on your Mac, please locate it under 'Applications' folder, right-click on the application, select "open."

I find those instruction here, and if you only update old wallet use first 3 steps. If you want to create same wallet on other device, in step 4 choose the option "I already have a seed".

thank you so much sir.

k1nx, it makes no sense to be paranoid in this case, your coins are completely safe with and without update to latest version. The only problem which you can have is that old versions of wallets can not be synced, which means you can not make an outgoing transaction, or see incoming transactions in your wallet.

It's completely safe to update to latest version of Electrum as long as you do it using files from the official site. If you use this link, there should be no problems : https://electrum.org/#download

what should i do sir? ill log out from old accnt. then install a new one? mac seems confusing sometimes. sorry

Are you intending on use a copy of the same wallet on both computers (Not really recommended) or are you going to have two different wallets?

Either way, I don't see it really being a problem...

I just wan to know whats safer. coz i decided not to to touch my wallet until they resolve the issue. Should I just uncheck the "connext server auto"?

I have my seed secured. Im afraid if I upgrade now and cant sync. im a newbie , sorry I thought Electrum is safe.

you don't really need to sync if you don't plan to use your bitcoin. just keep it offline. electrum is safe, they just have some troubles lately but all of those bugs/problems won't cause you to lose your funds if you're aware of what you do. the fake wallet needs to be installed before it can steal your funds, so even if you got the phishing message you're still okay.

If you're not planning to spend it, you can just keep the wallet offline.
If the the PC is always offline, you're safe even if you installed a fake Electrum.

By the way, if you're worried about losing BTC because Electrum couldn't sync, do not worry, it wasn't stored in the wallet, it's in the blockchain and the wallet is just the controller of the private keys that can control the funds of their address pairs.

As long as I got the latest update. does it mean my wallet is safe?
Your wallet is safe as long as you didn't install or open a fake Electrum on an online PC/device.
Bitcoins are safe as long as you have the SEED which controls all of the addresses derived from it.
Also, your funds are safe as long as your SEED and private keys aren't stored in a vulnerable environment like cloud storage or PC with a lot of threats.

You definitely won't be able to connect until you upgrade to latest version... so you should definitely do that ASAP. You don't have to worry about losing your BTC if you have your 12 word seed mnemonic safely and securely written down.

If you don't have that seed... you should open Electrum, then goto "Wallet -> Seed"... and then write those 12 words down and put them somewhere safe! (NOTE: you don't need to update to be able to do this) DO NOT make a screenshot or email these words to yourself or store them in a text file on your computer... keep them OFFLINE!

Once you have your seed, update... download from here: https://electrum.org/#download and then check the digital signatures of the downloaded file!

Do you plan on keeping the mac offline (not connected to the internet)?

If so, it doesn’t matter as the DDoS “blocks” connections to Electrum’s servers, but if you’re not connected to the internet, you’re not connecting to any server anyways.

This attack isn’t a risk to your coins. No one can steal them with it. All it foes it make the user’s life harder since he can’t connect to a server to move his coins.
