If you're not planning to spend it, you can just keep the wallet offline.
If the the PC is always offline, you're safe even if you installed a fake Electrum.
By the way, if you're worried about losing BTC because Electrum couldn't sync, do not worry, it wasn't stored in the wallet, it's in the blockchain and the wallet is just the controller of the private keys that can control the funds of their address pairs.
I have my seed secured. Im afraid if I upgrade now and cant sync. im a newbie , sorry I thought Electrum is safe.

Your wallet is safe as long as you didn't install or open a fake Electrum on an online PC/device.
Bitcoins are safe as long as you have the SEED which controls all of the addresses derived from it.
Also, your funds are safe as long as your SEED and private keys aren't stored in a vulnerable environment like cloud storage or PC with a lot of threats.
