Anybody here know Max Keiser?

Haha.  Last year he just mentioned Quark on his show and it went up something like 2,000 fold (thought it was 300 fold but was corrected today).  And it was originally close to what CSC is selling for now, it was around 200 Satoshi.  Rumor was Max held a ton of quark so he pumped it.

Anyway, CasinoCoin is probably the best niche coin out there but it definitely needs some kind of exposure to really make it go POP.

Exposure is obviously welcome. However, we want to create a sustainable coin in the end. The changes that are coming not intended to be some sort of get rich quick pump and dump scheme. This is partly why we're discussing it so openly instead of just springing a new client on you guys in a month.

That's a good point.  I'm not sure what would happen if CSC would be featured on a show like Max Keiser's.  it could be good for long term or it could just create a short term pump.

I agree, long term mindset is best.

last time I used cgminer on ubuntu, I had to try several versions. I think 3.4.something was the only one that worked but it misreported difficulty numbers for scrypt. cgminer's dev did remove scrypt after 3.7.2. Mostly because he is a bitcoin purist.

forget my last comment doing pool mining now but still cant get it to work, this is my batch file code

cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://norteamerica.megamineros.com:3334 -u markandrew.1 -p x -I 17 -g 1 --thread-concurrency 12000
pause

i put pause in as the window just shut down straight away after launching, is cgminer the wrong miner?

please help! Huh

are you starting the batch file from the directory that contains cgminer?
what is the last line you see before "Press any key to continue . . ."?

in same folder as cgminer, and yes it says press any key to continue, im thinking it may be the version of cgminer 4.3.5
before that it says 'cgminer: --scrypt: unregonized option'
Try cgminer 3.7.2, newer versions do not support scrypt anymore. Otherwise try sgminer instead.

What is the story with all of the tiny buy orders at cryptsy?

There are lots of orders for small fractions of a CSC.  It's got to be a bot or something but I just don't understand what it could be doing...

Huh

Traders use bots all the time to walk the price down with very small orders.  It could be used on the upside as well, of course, so it depends what this particular trader is aiming for.

If the spread is narrow and bid is excessively larger than the ask, the trader is likely trying to hold the price down to make their bid price more attractive. When the spread is very large, people tend to think that the fair price is somewhere in the middle and the bid is not as attractive. The reverse can also be true when they want to make the ask look more attractive. Another popular strategy is to narrow the spread, place an order at the bid, fill the spread in with small orders to narrow the spread, then place alarge order just behind the ask. This baits small orders that come in below the large order behind the ask. The current book looks very much like this actually.

The trader that autofills the book is basically manipulating the perception of a fair price on the book.

mark, try a lower intensity. You may need to play with it to find the optimum stable settings. However, there are sites out there that have reference settings for different GPU's. This is a good one for example:

Just a quick question for developers..

I've always looked at Casino coin and Lotto coin as two good side by side coins for online casinos.
ie. Lotto coin for slots style and flash based games and Casino coin for Black Jack etc

Have you thought about contacting the lotto coin team and look at merge mining??

ie Mine Casino coins and get Lotto coins at the same time?

Lotto coin looks like it is in trouble at the moment with no buy orders on Cryptsy and a very low network hash.

Just an idea that may help increase the value of both coins and cement there use in the crowded world of crypto coins.

PS. I don't hold any lotto coins, just seems like a very beneficial idea. Smiley

I'm not sure we'd want to tie ourselves to another coin. At least for now we have the freedom to tweak the diff calc etc if we need to. Unfortunately, once you add a feature like that it confuses people later if you take it away.

I can say the same thing about the massive hyper inflation CasinoCoin is currently experiencing at the detriment of all the holders.

So it's like fiat of we sit and watch and it's like fiat if we take action.

Difference is, if we take action, it will help anyone buying CSC where if we sit and watch it's gonna hurt everyone.
So we have to stop with the hating Fiat bit cause Bitcoin is Fiat 2.0 and we have to focus on the right strategic moves to increase shareholder value, short-term and Long-term.

And cutting dilution and inflation is a big move in the right direction.

...but the difference is that purchasers of Casinocoin knew what they were getting into. They know the coin specs including the total supply. Those specs should almost be set in stone...but like I said only a part of me is having problems with changing the specs...the other part of me that knows the value of my current supply will dramatically increase says "go for it" Tongue

I guess that value is only there if new purchasers are not aware that they are buying into a market that was significantly cheaper before the change.

I see your point.

Firstly, those of us here now, including the devs, did not agree to anything in the Current Protocol, and it was a mistake to dilute as much as the original dev did.

Secondly, those who bought into CSC had no idea what the macro view would be down the road.  Most didn't imagine 500 alt-coins by now and thousands by next year.  Nor did we imagine tons of hype and scam coins stealing all the attention and investment money from good, honest coins.

So it's not exactly true that we knew what we were getting into. The crypto-coin manipulation has become rampant and what was seen as sustained inflation even 6 months ago is now unsustainable due to the fact there are now many other coins grabbing investor money creating a capital vacuum for most other alts.

So we, including the current devs, have now inherited a coin with a built-in problem [Massive inflation and Dilution] and if we don't make the proper adjustments things will not get any better, they will continue to get worse.

And adding value, even if it adds some uncertainty regarding the CSC protocol [in this particular case] is better than not doing anything which would lead to even more uncertainty regarding CasinoCoin's future.

But we're not doing a reverse split and no money is spent so it's an amazing strategy to employ which corporations simply cannot do without spending massive amounts of money.

I keep thinking about how one of the benefits of BTC is that the supply cannot be increased or decreased based on the whim of a government. In reality it can be changed based on the whims of the majority or even just a few devs (translation: nerds). I'm not against changing the supply or reward but a part of me seems to feel like it is being no better than what governments do with fiat. I know other coins have done it to various degrees of success but does that make it okay?

I am not familiar with the reasons for the original supply amount but one would hope there was some thought put into it.

Just putting my thoughts out there. Personally it would be beneficial for me financially to decrease supply and reward but is that the right thing to do?

The whole decentralized thing was a lie, BTW, to attract everyone.  Look at Bitcoin, totally centralized by a foundation board, ONE single pool and also by the fact that 1% own 50% of all the coins.

Yet nobody seems to care.

So we have to stop with the hating Fiat bit cause Bitcoin is Fiat 2.0 and we have to focus on the right strategic moves to increase shareholder value, short-term and Long-term.

Thanks for your input.

Cheers!
