But we're not doing a reverse split and no money is spent so it's an amazing strategy to employ which corporations simply cannot do without spending massive amounts of money.

I keep thinking about how one of the benefits of BTC is that the supply cannot be increased or decreased based on the whim of a government. In reality it can be changed based on the whims of the majority or even just a few devs (translation: it can be changed based on the whims of nerds). I'm not against changing the supply or reward but a part of me seems to feel like it is being no better than what governments do with fiat. I know other coins have done it to various degrees of success but does that make it okay?

I am not familiar with the reasons for the original supply amount but one would hope there was some thought put into it.

Just putting my thoughts out there. It would be financially beneficial to current holders of Casinocoin to decrease supply and reward but is that the right thing to do?

i think real casinos should also be approached on the development of this coin, and people can go into casino and then literally exchange casinocoins for real chips, that way big time gamblers will always have chips wherever they go, or at least this is a way to implement the coins into real world application, great feeling when you have a bunch of physical chips in your hand, phsycology has a massive role to play.

One could do 1 microCSC later on or something like Bitcoin.  Or the devs could add PoS and add coins to the system that way.

But that's years down the line and right now if the value isn't increased then CSC risks falling to the bottom of the Crypto barrel as thousands of new "better" coins come online.

New investors look at what they perceive as strong coins and value is part of that equation:  A $10 stock looks much stronger than a 1 penny stock, and coins are very much the same as millions of stock investors flow into cryptos over the next few years.

This cap and subsidy reduction should have lasting effects due to simple supply and demand laws.  Large corporations due reverse splits and spend billlions on stock BuyBacks for this exact reason.

But we're not doing a reverse split and no money is spent so it's an amazing strategy to employ which corporations simply cannot do without spending massive amounts of money.

Here's the plan:
1.) we're reducing the total number of coins
2.) we're reducing the block reward. Period.
3.) we're actively talking to exchanges and existing gambling outfits to increase adoption
4.) we're planning adding features to improve service integration. We'll start a discussion soon about improving the API and maybe even adding AMQP pub/sub transaction notification
5.) scrypt asics are coming next 8 weeks that will strengthen and possibly legitimize scrypt coins
6.) devs are working on possibly introducing low cost ATMs that support bitcoin litecoin and casinocoin. I'm hitting this pretty hard today and if it's possible I'm making that available to the community even if it ends up meaning open sourcing atm firmware to the community. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
7.) casinocoin is out there promoting integration with a new casino and is committed to supporting the coin by keeping casinocoin city alive. Check out his free roll poker events. This guy is honest and is working hard behind the scenes for you guys. He can park his shoes under my bed anytime. Lol
8.) you guys now get a voice. If you have an idea post it. Devs are not dictators. We'll do everything we can to implement features that you want. Be active you have a voice.

If you want to sell your coins go for it. We'll miss you, but I'll still buy you a beer when you come to Tokyo. You'll just have to deal with my gloating. Haha

Casinocoin is the best branded niche scrypt coin. I wouldn't waste my time if I didn't believe in it and I have 2.5 million coins to prove it. Gambatte! ( Japanese for good luck!)

My question about reducing the number of coins was because i see CSC in the future as replacement for real casino chips. So if you would like to see 1 chip is 1 CSC i think it would be good to have a big supply of coins, so that was behind my question about lowering the amount of available coins. If there are no more than 60 milion coins in the world its no problem. Or if you all agree that instead of a 1,10, 100 or 1000 dollar chip you create a 1u, 10u 100u and 1 CSC (u=1 being 1000th CSC) crypto chip i am allright with that. Don't get me wrong here, not criticizing anything here, just try to get the reason clear behind the decision of reducing the amount of coins.

Those ATMs would be awesome! A while back i also mentioned the idea of putting a CSC direct deposit/withdraw mechanism on slot machines, would be the next step! Man i seriously need to find some time to finish the mobile wallet i started, that together with the ATM would be totally cool !!

@GoldSeal -> thanks for stepping up to the plate

No, there is no context and no progress. You can restart miner and make pauses at any time.

I have a question that may sound silly but cannot find the answer anywhere, when solo mining do you have to leave your computer and gpu running until you found a block as you may loose the progress that you have made and would have to start again??

No worries we're supporting this coin solidly. That dumper will regret that shortly. Quality devs are on the scene now and are dedicated to creating value for everyone that supported this coin so far. Wink

My wallet version 1.2 working still well with enough connections. What you can do to help syncing is: Put in this (see below) in a texteditor and make sure it is saved as casinocoin.conf and not casinocoin.conf.txt. Place it in C:/user/Appdata/Roaming/Casinocoin folder. (If that folder is hidden, than unhide with Mapoptions). After that open the wallet again and it should be syncing.

No proxy settings, I've checked. So it has left me clueless. . .

Is it only with the casinocoinwallet? Maybe test it with a wallet of another coin, if it has the same problem, maybe it is something with connectivity of yours.

If anyone wants to view the changes to the code please view here: https://github.com/casinocoin/casinocoin/tree/casinocoin-dev
GoldSeal was kind enough to make the changes. We will implement this update soon and initiating the following;

Total coin supply reduced to: 63000000
Block reward reduced to: 10
Min Version = x: Pushing old clients out
New Version = 1.3.x

Anything else minor that should be done in the update?

I have been offline in regards to casinocoin for the last few weeks so maybe i missed some things. What is the reason to reduce the total coin supply? I would think the coin would benefit from a larger amount of available coins? By reducing the amount and the block reward you probably hope the coin value will rise but i doubt that in its current state that will be the case. The idea behind all the cryptos is that at some point in time when the last coin is mined the miners will make their money with the transaction fees. Until a coin is widely accepted the amount of transactions is still low and thus a coin will loose the interest of miners in the future. I would opt for keeping the amount of coins the same but reduce the block reward to lengthen the period of time the miners will receive block rewards to give the coin a better chance of surviving in the long run. Just my two cents ...

Bitcoin is going Global with only 21 million total coins and only half mined right now.

Can you think of just 1 good reason why any niche-market coin [not global] would ever need 15 times the amount of coins Bitcoin needs to succeed?

And you do realize casino coin is in a hyper inflation stage right now. Nothing you do will keep the price up because too many cheap to free coins flood the market and with a massive 336 million coin cap any investor with half a brain will run away, realizing this inflation will only get worse and last many years.

This renders CasinoCoin as nothing more than a trading coin, something you pump and dump once in a while.

No coin in the world, not even a global one needs more than 63 million coins, ever, and even that is excessive and no coin can survive with hyper inflation but the devs have now fixed that issue, along with the Max hard cap.

Did you use conf file from 1st post? If not, create casinocoin.conf in  C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\CasinoCoin and paste config there.

I have helped him already via PM and replace the .conf file. But nothing seems to work. So I told him to ask for help here.

I think it is something with the refusal of connectivity in some way.

I our conversation this came along:

Done the steps in adding the casino.conf file in C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\CasinoCoin folder and the logs shows me this error now.
