It is an attribute which emerges from widespread adoption.

Of course that also will never change.  Netscape navigator still controls the direction of web development and has near universal marketshare.

I did not say it would not change, I simply stated that the most popular client software essentially controls Bitcoin.

No.  Not really.  Influence maybe but not control.  The dev team which abuses that influence by doing something detrimental to Bitcoin will find they have an unpopular client and thus no influence.

Given its ubiquity it controls the Bitcoin network.
Why do you give it ubiquity?
It is an attribute which emerges from widespread adoption.
I think you underestimate adoption of MultiBit, Armory, and Electrum.

On the full node front, there's a bit more of a ubiquity problem, but that's the fault of users, as I already hinted.
Are you using any of them to help improve the situation? No? Then you're part of the problem.
We have at least Picocoin and libbitcoin/SX now. Go switch to one.

Nothing stops you from developing your own client and promote it

Hardly the point now is it.

1. Semantics. There is a defacto official client.
Which client is that? Why have you decided to make it a defacto official client?

I was unaware there was an 'official' client.

@revans - Just been reading through your anger fuelled posts from other threads. May I ask why your actually signed up and activate on these forums and what you hope to achieve?

Which is fine so long as Bitcoin's central bank's client
Huh?
You are surely aware that the organisation that controls (writes and maintains) the Bitcoin client used by the majority basically controls Bitcoin.
Only if you let/make us.
So, given that Bitcoin's mantra is decentralisation one assumes you would advise people to use a client other than the official one, otherwise everything gets all centrally and we known how much Bitcoin cultists hate that.
There is no official client.
I'll advise people to use the best tool for the job they want to accomplish - often that's Armory.
Unfortunately, there aren't many good tools out there yet.

Does Bitcoin have a PR department yet, because that reply sound like it came from it?

You've drifted offtopic. All posts in a thread should be strictly related to the original post. I asked you to explain and you have commenced with adhomenim.

Whatever. Whilst were here then, how about my question?
