The login is shit though. Captcha and auto-logoff on timeout makes it a terrible unusable exchange for me.

Captcha combined with having to use my email and retype everything when I fuck up in the morning = annoying Smiley

Most hacks are inside jobs, so be careful using this one.

I believe the coins that were stolen have been repaid by the owner, weren't they?

There is still a pending balance.  They have been paying over time.  To be honest I wouldn't have even noticed about the balance of mine that was stolen (it was really low) so they do deserve a lot of credit for refunding everyone without requiring people to claim their losses.

good question.

and the captcha's suck other than that i checked it out early today and it seems cool.

if the coins we're payed back to users then i say well done and respect !
just hope it doesn't become a habit lol

and i agree many hacks are clearly inside jobs and we should avoid keeping very much coin on these places if you can help it..
if your not trading with them then get them OFF their asap ..better safe than sorry Wink

Poloniex rocks! Polo and Minty are all you need, maybe BTC-e if you need large volumes for LTC or PPC. Crapsy should just give up and shut down.

+1. Also, fincen compliant exchange https://prelude.io/ is useful and trustworthy for buying with USD.

So fincen compliant only, not yet having fincen registration. Am I correct?

This is what I found in the prelude website:

"We are actively pursuing all legally required regulatory actions in order to ensure that we are fully compliant with various organizations such as FinCEN, HMRC and others."

The captchas are there for your own protection. Why would you complain if it is for your own safety? It is my favorite exchange!

Further, Poloniex does use ReCaptcha.

Oh indeed, sorry about that. There's two versions of ReCaptcha, the one with numbers that Poloniex use, and the one with letters Cryptsy uses for withdrawals which is painful to look at, IMO. That's the one I was thinking about.
It is frustrating! Yes, I recognize that Poloniex is a very good quality exchange, but it ends up being the one I use at last resort.

How is logging back every few hours a problem? And I find the captcha easy to read, compared to some who use ReCaptcha.
Your opinion is welcome, but does not invalidate mine.

As I said, "for me". Further, Poloniex does use ReCaptcha.

My favorite exchange!

Very dedicated developer, and after funds were stolen (he fixed this), he offered to pay them back. I denied the bitcoins I was owed because I felt bad  Embarrassed

Yep, love how they have great coins that are found almost nowhere else (ie Gridcoin), and they handled the hack that happened a few weeks ago very professionaly.

The login is shit though. Captcha and auto-logoff on timeout makes it a terrible unusable exchange for me.

I just have to say, it's been awhile since I've been there, but they look to have really gotten their shit together (graphs with several different timescale options, stop limits, etc).  I'm impressed.

I know they had some problems awhile back ("hacked"), any problems since then?
