I totally understand why you picked hgch, it's a really impressive and hard picture to take. Congrats!

The winner is hgch. The other pictures really are fantastic though I judged it based on the fact I have never ever seen such a detailed holo picture before. I genuinely thought you would never be able to clearly see the error in the micrasoul in the middle but he has captured it clear as anything. for the other entries it was almost impossible to differentiate between which is best as I am not really a photographer. But all I can say is they are all good.

Thanks for the pictures!

So, Poloherb won?
No that was related to the coins he took photos of. The winner is to be decided. I am putting the images onto a memory stick so I can see it on my TV. Best way to decide Smiley
Aaah, I see. Alright! Grin

I made 60 pictures. These picture seems to be the most interesting professional looking.
The coins themselves are of very good quality. Clean carefully finished. The image shows the quality of the coins.
This original image without processing graphics program (correction)
Original size 4896x3672 pix.

I think the glare looks neat as well!   Cool

I took a couple photos with lasers bouncing off the holograms which was cool but they didn't make it to the final cut.  The laser illumination was too visible and would need softening.
Thanks! The whole reason I choose to upload it was because of the glare, which was something I wasn't counting on, haha.

Care to send me a PM with that laser photo? It sounds cool. Grin

I may have deleted them but I will definitely take a look later and if I have the laser shots I'll upload and send em over!   Smiley

One more entry, but it's not really competing (because it's so blurry). It's not the best photo, but I think it looks neat. Grin

Hi someone is wanting to submit some photos but the coins are in the post. Does anyone have any qualms if I extend this competition for 2 weeks? If no one minds then I will also add a booby prize for the runner up also. Not sure what that will be yet though.  Maybe an original Microsoul 1 BTC blank.
Fine by me, not that I'm going to win, but still. Grin

small table behind the window on a not sunny day, tripod, Canon 5DII with Lens Canon EF 100mm 1:2,8 L IS Macro USM. and a bit "brushed" with Lightroom.
It was my idea to get the details as good as possible and not to have the most colorful and shiny picture.

Nice setup.  Very similar to mine.  I also use Lightroom too

How was this taken? Was the equipment expensive? Amazing pic you can clearly see the spelling mistake micrasoul on the inner ring.

Nice 2nd pic of the front fvs114.  Yes, the front is very hard to capture due to its shiny surface.  You did a great job.
Thanks, as your pics are beautiful you may want to experiment a little with a hologram...
Here is my try:

I like the first picture. It looks very well these vivid colors and sharpness
Thanks Poloherb.  Smiley
First one (holo) was taken at sunrise. Those coins have high gloss surface and it's hard to capture nice picture of the front because of camera reflection.

I didnt take too many pics of Microsoul for the Encyclopedia, since elianite had many of those.  The following are all uncropped, so you'll see the outer parts of the coin holders.

Here are some other nice shots of my other makers coins I took to show the kind of pics I can take.  Again these are all in the Encyclopedia, as I took about 1/2 the pictures for it:

I always put my coins in capsules as I want to preserve the quality of the coin itself. The background is a custom NastyFans mouse pad that I got for $0.99 with shipping from Artscow (they were doing another promotion). Grin

I also have a Silver Wallets and a Bitcoin Bowl one. However, I tend to use the NastyFans one as it has a black background and good contrast.

I suck at taking pictures as well, but here are my best Microsoul pictures anyway. I never got the front right, but my backside pictures are on point IMO. Will take some more next week. Wink

Good to see some in capsules too. What are they sat on? Is that Og nasty something?

Thanks poloherb I know you have also done some great photography. It would be great if you chose your best work and put the photos on this thread so all can see. Then when the winner is announced everyone feels like it was fairly done.

Will the Philosopher coin be arriving in time for me to take photos of it?   Wink

Yours should have gone out so I hope so Smiley

Here's some pics of holos that I took for the Encyclopedia.  I'd have to check if they were actually used or not.  I used a Canon 5D Mark III with 100 mm Macro lens, Macro rings, Tripod, Studio lighting, then Lightroom/ Photoshop.   I earlier blacked out the public addresses when funded.

Note that shots taken more direct, may tend to show more blemishes than from an angle, so it may be harder to take a good shot direct.

I am giving away a sample of the 2nd series in the Gold Digger collection. What I want in return is some great photos of my coins as I am terrible at taking them (you may have noticed). So who ever posts the best photo of any of my coins (preferably a collection) will have this coin free. There will not be any more coins like this anywhere ever.
You can see the Matt Mirror effect is completely wrong. Its certainly is a unique Bronze coin.

I will fund this if you send me the BTC or you can have it as is.

Competition Ends on the last day of April so get snapping i you are interested in this coin.
