For a population with high growing number of youths than old people it's supposed to be of an advantage to the economy as their should be people of working age that are capable and ready to drive a workable economy through white collar and skillful craft jobs but reverse is just the case with that of our dear country as thebild people have taken the centre stage since the 70s and till now don't want to relegate power to the youth to occupy political positions in the country. More worsen is on the part of majority of the youth who have sworn to make themselves stooges and puppets and instruments of terror by the old politicians to cause mayhem to any group of fellow youths that tries to stand-up to speak for their political rights against what's wrong in our society. Imagine the cost of running politics in our country, can a youth afford it? Just a local government or councilor form?
Could one of the solutions to make the country's economy better be to revisit child planning?
This planning may be met with the decision for couples to give birth to not more than a given or stipulated number of kids and as such we could see the population of the country not more than it is and resources already available would be enough to go round.

Still, I doubt that this would be a lasting solution where the old still rule and the young are called lazy and criminals when they choose to seek other means to earn a living or become as corrupt as the politicians just to fend for themselves and their families.

The population of the youths in our dear country is never the problem of this country please.
Indian which is the most populated country in the world has a total population of 1,428,627,663 as at 2023 which it overtook China with its total population at 2023 was 1,425,671,352 followed by the United States of America which is the third populated country in the world with a total population of 339,996,563 at 2023 and Nigeria which was a sixth position in the world populated countries is
223,804,632 same 2023.
Meanwhile the economy rate of these countries being more populated than has been doing so well in their economy growth with a good governance in their societies.
The problem of Nigeria is the government and certainly not the youths as you may proscribe Op.
It is not like the youths or the younger ones doesn't try to correct the older ones from their mistakes, the fact is that we Africans has a timid and undeveloped mentality that the older ones are always more learned and best fit to sit on the authority positions to lead while the youths follows.
The older has already been kept the youths of today on captive that when the youths tries to sit up against their bad governances they would apply the power of authorities vested in them to oppress the youth.
This is literarily one of the reasons why most citizens are minding their businesses here in the country because it is obvious that you seems to be on your personal Interest when you seemed to stand against the government and they trashes you off.
Even the masses you are to fight for wouldn't recognize your efforts and sacrifices.
So if there most be any set of persons to hold accountable for the awkwardness in this country then the government of the olds and the young persons should be hold responsible the political system of governance in our dear country is corrupted.

Have come to understand this fact of youth population being as an economic problem in Nigeria. Nigeria still believe in the ruling of the old. We place so much culture respect on old people, that even if we see old person doing something wrong we hardly correct them. And this actually starts from our African Nigerian families where u will see ur uncle doing something wrong and u can’t correct him. Now bringing it to Nigerian political level. It is clearly seen that our leader are mostly the old people. This old politicians practically do wrong things and they would get away with it. I believe and stand on the note that. If our leader’s should enhance the power of the youths by providing the necessary needs, Nigeria would be far better than what it is now.
its difficult to understand your topic but if i get what you're trying to say correctly, you're saying that although our youth population is very high, that we aren't making the best use of them and that we always assume that our  elders are right without putting more emphasis on what the younger ones have to offer.

its true that our youth population is high and we might not have made the best use of them in most of pour critical positions because most of our leaders are somehow old but what you should also understand is that age is also very important factor that guarantees the needed experience to leading the country aright. the reason why sometimes its not al that right to give certain privilege's to the younger ones is basically because they need some level of exposure to enable them attain some level of height that will give them proper leadership knowledge.

E no dey strange for Nigeria say old pipo dey hold big power wey fit dey affect young pipo. But dis kin situation dey show face for other places too not just Naija. E come be serious wahala specially now wey di world dey change fast fast and people dey find new ways to survive. For dis kind environment we need to find ways wey go bring old and young together to talk and work hand-in-hand. Dis one go help make we fit use everybody experience and energy to make society better.

Make we put young people for leadership positions and give dem all the support wey dem need to contribute well well for society. E dey important for development wey go last. Dem need education, work wey dem fit do, people wey fit mentor dem and chance to join politics if dem wan.

OP, I think you should review this your topic with this post. It has a very low correlation with each other. Reading the topic, I think you were trying to say the youth population is part of the country's economic problem. But when I went through the post itself, I see you were talking about not given youth the opportunity to rule as part of our problem. Well, they say we youth are the leaders of tomorrow but I don't know why our country is neglecting the youths when it comes to leadership. May God save Nigeria.

It took me some time to understand your topic and what you have said below. Don't forget that the elders won't let the youth be in charge yet because they still have a lot to gain from their positions. Personal reasons are why they always want to lead. I don't see any reason why the youth cannot be selected for high positions especially in the electoral processes.

If the leaders understood and prioritized the future of the nation, they would set a standard to follow and leave it in the hands of the youth to take care of. If they feel that the youth are incompetent to have the leadership right to lead the country, they have failed several times. I would rather if it were given a try and not bother about the consequences.

We should not forget the kids where ones little children, so the issue comes from high birth rate. Africans especially do not try to take birth control measures making our available resources not sufficient enough to meet up the needs of it's citizens leading to high average and poor citizens.
The issue on population is kinda different from what the op is saying. If we want to focus on population now then we should not blame those people giving birth without control, have you observed something in Nigeria let's use Nigeria for example, people involved with giving birth to multiple children without proper care are mostly uneducated people and ignorance, mostly in rural areas. People like this need to be  educated on sex and preventive measures to regulate population. I know of some organizations that visits rural areas once in awhile and educate mothers and youth on issues like this. The increase on population is an easy matter to deal with and the duty of the government bodies is just to sponsor such organization with the necessary materials.
I'm sure I did not go too far from what the OP was trying to explain, if at all back then our parents where educated enough to understand that applying birth control measures will help reduce the rate of youths who are old enough to begin their lives by doing jobs and get paid, then definitely our resources would have met the needs of everyone but unfortunately we have greater population than our available resources.
I still know of a young family who has upto 12 children, as times goes on they will grow into their youthful age and if the country doesn't experience a change then they will have to suffer nothing different from what we are facing currently.

I also have this believe cause the young will definitely grow, but  the idea of correcting older people is nice but when correcting the government we ought to be careful cause in Nigeria na who get power to rule na strong pass and they can easily deal with anyone that want to kill their government.
Their should always be a voice to speak out, if everyone of us decides to keep shot then definitely in years to come we won't experience any positive changes.

In terms of not correcting the old people is something I think is already passing out, the eyes of everyone including the youths are getting much open to oppose that which will not benefit them not undermining the age difference. In no distant time things will begin to change, power will definitely change hands from the old down to the young vibrant citizen whose mentality is not already fading out.

If there is one thing I like about your post is the fact that you didn’t say that the youth should be given the power because I don’t think the youths are ready to take over this leadership as their are possibilities that power might get into their heads and this is evident with one youth of the National Assembly that slapped a pregnant lady at a shopping mall and I’m sure that the news went viral.
But still on still our government no try at all and if there is anything wey them fit do to restore this country back then make them do an asap without hesitation as things Dey really spoil by the day

The reasons why we are passing through all these problems in our country is because of greed , tribalism, religious difference and most of all disunity,we are not one but claiming to be . Imagine what is being said by a religious leader in a country that we say we are one that because the president 's wife is a pastor, not a Muslim like the husband should be killed,so said their Quran. Until we stop all these behaviors we will remain the way we are .

The economy problem we are facing today is not as a result of high pollution.  Nigeria is blessed with many natural products that can make Nigeria one of the best countries in the world.  The problems of Nigeria economy is because of mismanagement of fund. With all the natural resources that the country has politicians just steal the money that is being generated from these natural resources.  Our politicians are the cause of the economy problem because they fail to invest the money that is being generated from the resources we have.
