I tried looking for him awhile back, then just gave up. Just a few minutes ago, I stumbled across a major clue that everyone seems to have overlooked. Now that I know who it is, I want to get some opinions from you guys:

He's put a great deal of time into hiding his identity. Even though some of us want to know who he is, he wouldn't be safe anymore. Governments and whatever the hell might want to take him out, or something to ruin Bitcoin. I mean, that's why he's been hiding, right?

Would it be wrong of me to disclose who he is? I guess I can't give clues either. Actually, not really sure why I'm starting this thread. Just kinda excited that I found him.

So what do I do? Just keep my mouth shut?

Why all this confusion about who Satoshi is? He's clearly Satoshi Nakamoto! Hell, he put his name on everything!

Geez, people these days....

I'd be looking for someone who still hasn't publicly revealed their real names.

Good Point! Starting a list to eliminate possibilities:

Any guesses how I chose those 3 bitcointalk.org profiles..?  Smiley

Registration date and using 2 spaces after a period.

yes, registration date, and user profile ids.
Checked couple of hundreds of profiles that were opened after December 2010, hero / senior member, posts and post contents..  Smiley

Yeah! No need to check any profiles prior to Dec2010, for Satoshi wasn't smart enough to do that if he/they/she/it knew beforehand that he was going into self-exile.

You probably could scratch off that Utah guy, for I can't envision a coder with six wives.

My money's on PW.

We're very close to adding much improved Tor support to Bitcoin, so it will most likely be in 0.7.0.

Among other things:
  • Support for running as and connecting to Bitcoin hidden services
  • Peer exchange of Bitcoin hidden services
  • Non-leaking DNS seeding via proxy

Mine's not.  Satoshi went through extensive trouble to hide his identity, which means he likes to remain anonymous.  Why would he suddenly want to be directly associated with the project with his full name as his username?  I don't see such a change of character as likely.

I'd be looking for someone who still hasn't publicly revealed their real names.  That puts all three of the suspects that btcusr chose as out of hte running.

Is 2 spaces after a period one of Satoshi's traits?  Because I do that.  In fact, I'm always thinking I should not do that so as to avoid allowing any of my online accounts to be tied to each other.

I don't think so... Satoshi is a group of people in my book.

then, it might be something like this.
whoever using satoshi bitcointalk.org profile stopped at some point of time (2010 December), then started using one of these profiles.

again, this is just a guess.  Smiley
