Mining is a risky business, in the first years was very profitable ma in this period it's safer to buy btc and forget it.
In the first few year, bitcoin isn't known quite well, there wasn't much attention given to Bitcoin. People actually profited by buying used GPU and custom built some rigs. The only person that profited the most were successful mining botnet operators.  The reason for mining to be profitable is that not many people believed bitcoin would succeed and did not go into bitcoin mining which did not increase the difficulty a lot, most of the believers would buy cheap machines and mine and probably hold for a while. There were a few bubbles and I could say some miners have sold their coin then and profited a lot. The game isn't all about the speed of the equipments you have but is when to sell the bitcoin so you can get the best profit, the best is probably to buy them.

I have really warned people about investment to mining contracts, especially newly created sites. Mining contract can never profit and huge risk incurs with less known sites.

If lunamine ran away with the investors money, would they create a new site? See last entry from user Lunamine on this forum.

They saying they got hacked, and they are being blackmailed. We do not know if it is true or not at this stage. I was a member of the signature campaign, and lost a weeks payouts too, so I have been following this closely too.

I am one of the limited amount of people, who believe, that they were hacked and that they being blackmailed. If it's a lie, I would really be #$%%$^.

But, I am still hoping for the best.

To be honest, I don't buy the story of they have been hacked.
One reason is that I have seen too many businesses claiming they have been hacked and asking users to wait patiently. The owners simply vanished soon after.
Another reason is that lunamine has deleted the list of participants of their sig campaign, which doesn't make sense to me.

Anyway, good luck to all investors and sig campaign participants.

Even in the first years it was never immediately profitable. Printing free money with one's GPU was never a thing.

These early miners profited because they held their coins for a long time, which is also the only way that current miners can profit (unless they have big farms and can get their equipment at half price)

We absolutely need to keep our eyes open for new cloud mining services. If he gets away Scott free you know he will try again because I'm sure he's greedy. In the service announcements thread people are starting to dox him.  I'm only owed a paltry .048 BTC but I want that jerk found.

Invest less in mining and more in other things you can do with Bitcoin, like trading or selling stuff.

And for what I see, it is not likely you get some or even any ammount invested back, so register that value in your balance books as a loss and go ahead and try something else. One day you will recover the loss.

You are more likely to get some tips by posting that on http://www.reddit.com/r/bitcoin, FYI.

Though that won't be much. Sorry about your loss.

Damn fu**!

If there will be any possibility to get any bitcoins back let me know. I already thought about donations for a loser like me!

Everything is going worse my wife is pissed for that action .... damn.

Since bitcoin transaction is irreversible, the only way to get the bitcoin back IMO is to dox the owner and get him paying all the investors back.
Some people are to dox him now, and you may take a look at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=675315.180 (starting from page 10).

The site is down and the owner hasn't pay the mining revenue nor the signature payment.
It seems you are right that lunamine has run away with the investors' bitcoin already. Sad
Really sorry to hear your big loss.

I just got shit on my hands by handling Bitcoins could this be true? I've got now spended over 40 Bitcoins in Mining and all lost so let it be.

First try was to handle them on cex.io for a while but this was just no effect by mining until the next difficulty came and i lost. Than I bought a Miner on Cointerra with 1 year hosting from the march batch, than they told me the hosting is not longer available and I discussed with them over 1 Month to get a mining contract because they didn't want to payback the minercosts for the 10000 USD until this mining wasn't profitable for me and they got the big Bitcoins for that month this really sucks.
And now I spend the last 3.4 BTC I had to lunamine to get out some more that I will have get a small amount back and they go down with the server!!!

Could this be true?Huh??
