I agree with you,  when you say that he is a member who is entitled to get 1,000 merit to Legendary. I dont think that he will find it difficult, because now he only needs 38 [34] more merit to become a legendary. Maybe that will be achieved at the end of the year or early 2020 or at least after he actively posts regularly again.

Rilex, there are many paths to Rome but there is only one way to achieve higher rankings on the bitcointalk forum at the moment, and that is "merit".
I am sure you are currently on the right track where there are a lot of merit that you have collected and that is 300. When you manage to collect merit as 500, it will make you a member of the hero and you know that.

I think you and I are on the same track at the moment, and what you are also doing, that is i do. Improve the quality of posts so that there will be bonuses that are accepted as "merit".
We just dont have to focus too much to get the merit because it will continue to disturb the mind and I think that is very unpleasant. All we have to do is try and continue to improve the quality so that the merit will be given by itself.

I am sure, merit source will definitely leave a history of sending their merit to our profile, rest assured because that will make us progress.

It's really up to how active you are, with your skills and knowledge the merit shouldn't be any issue.

Thanks for the compliment, about the legendary status of a thing I'm one of the very few users that isn't interested in ranking up further. Although that doesn't mean i won't contribute effectively to discussion when I see one but as for starting topics, I'll be taking a break from that for now instead I'm searching for other ways I can be a positive impact to the forum that's why I did increase my rate of spam busting, picked interest in rewarding quality contributions as a merit source and did pick interest in signature management hopefully I can master the skills in time to fill the shoes of the best managers out there and bring in quality campaigns into the forum.

I have reviewed their history and have seen many publications that contribute to Bitcointalk and help many members, good work.
The next step is to get to Legendary, continue like this, you will not have any problem to reach it.

Well what other option do I have left then to again with everyone including you and pharmacist saying it's not a coincidence. Why I thought it was a coincidence was the way I recieved the merits, the threads weren't on first page for them to see it so could be either someone pointed them to the thread or my post history was looked into by them.

Well, if you'd ask me if it is a mere coincidence that you receive merits or not then, my answer is that it is clearly not a mere coincidence when you get rewarded with merits. As far as I can remember, you have created a threads that is informative that is why the rest merits you need is only a matter of time before you'll finally got it to "RANK UP" which is another milestone that you have achieved and also I would like to congratulate you so, Congratulations.

Thanks for the motivation, I'll keep trying in the best way I can then it's left for the meriters to merit my posts if they find it worthy. still have three 2019 on/off forum goals i need to work on so fingers cross I can achieve them all and hopefully more additional goals.

Lol, I'm usually refered to as Brainboss, always loved entrepreneurs & desired to be one someday, I don't hesitate to speak about that desire so it has been associated with my nickname by my friends after I began promoting blockchain/cryptocurrency related stuff and since then I have been tagged with the Crypto word sometimes I get called CryptoBrainboss or CryptopreneurBrainboss. I'm getting used to it. Tried changing my name once on the forum but that didn't work out since there isn't an option for that so I'm cool with the username.

I looked up your account on bpip.org just to verify, and you've indeed earned 624/634 of your merits. Damn, well done indeed. You're pretty much one of those people here on Bitcointalk that are a slap on the face to those people who are saying that it's impossible to earn merits here. Keep up the good work. Hope we see each other soon with a legendary rank.

Really deserves it. I am congratulating you for all your hard works and helpfull post that you made. Don’t know you quite yet or nor don’t have any piece of interaction. But all of your post are really helpfull and well deserve achieving this point. Good luck to the journey of becoming Legendary to us, all of us.

I can understand the area you're coming from, if it's posted on the beginners board, it'll help to encourage noobs that it's actually possible to rank up, all it takes is just time and effort.
But you must also understand that meta is the section for forum ranks and activities, so meta is the most appropriate section for this sort of posts.

Congratulations brainboss you have really shown that there is no such thing as racism or segregation in the forum. You hard work has spoken loud and had paved way for your success. I started my journey also with the right thought deviating from what the fellow thoughts(merit and ranking up is for a particular set) that invited me here. I reach out to newbies or any one struggling to rank up that it's never too late to start improving look out for source of motivation, aspire to be at your possible best,  make your next post your best post, don't feel inferior you little knowledge might be helpful.

You are a perfect example to a lot more people who are doing good here and contributing to the forum positively in some way or the other. Many of us have realized the true essense of this forum only at a later stage and once they were realized we have started contributing and were rewarded with merits. suchmoon and dbshck is one among the top merit senders and sources with insanely large allocation of smerits per month. If they were sending the smerits lesser, we would have been lagging by some merits as most of us would be having only limited smerits to share to others.

Though I have received majority of my merits from the Technical Board and Meta, I am not a technical guy before knowing about btc. I was not a developer nor I am no way related to the computer systems till 2016. Everything right from C++, Java, Cryptography, Data Structures, (more recently C#) was self learned in the period of 1 year through consistent learning and helping the fellow forum members. Today I am able to compile and test the bitcoin software and see to that if I can be of any help to the developer community. This forum offers various opportunities to prove what we are capable of which can not be achieved in the real world.

I don't think that this is a bragging post made by the OP. This is an appreciation post and at the same time, an inspiration post for other members out there who wants a higher rank.


I don't even care too even if I have a high merit or not as long as I CAN WEAR AN AVATAR!!!! although there are times that it comes to my mind that I need to get some merit blah blah.

This post does not come off as a brag, but rather an appreciation post, yes some people actively desire(hunt maybe) merits and put in effort in giving out quality content. It's always nice to see such effort appreciated.
There are different motives for being on this forum, and so long as you do not adversely affect the forum through your actions (scam or spam), it's okay.
Maybe they put in the effort in real life and maybe they are millionaires.

We get enough of these posts, did you really need to brag about obtaining a forum rank?  If some of you merit hunters put that same type of effort into the real world you could already be millionaires.

I often forget that merit is even thing, don't even pay attention to it usually.  Just encourages people to play favorites.

Great news, congrats! I remember the time I ranked up to Hero, not so long ago. We have a long way to Legendary but with patience everything can be achieved.

I haven't come across your name too much, but I just checked your latest posts and created topics and I'm pleasantly surprised.
Like, even though your English isn't 100% perfect (it's good and understandable though), you still put quite a lot of effort into what you write on the forum.

I see you're from Nigeria, which really puts a smile on my face, because you're single-handedly improving the reputation of your country.
Of course I know that there are many good people in Nigeria (and every country of course), but on the internet you tend to see a lot of negativity surrounding that particular country.

Congratulations..... you have been doing good job and deserve it as well. It was not very easy to become hero nowadays since there is merit system.

Most likely I will be Hero on coming 14 days.

Will succumb to this because most of us forum member had never one day appreciate those ladies and gentlemen that we are fortunate to have on this indefatigable forum, a forum which is full of potential men and women of substance, for some of us here; we find it difficult to cope with the posting and replying to problem threads that needed attentions but wondered where these ladies and gentlemen get their strength and courage from. They are worthy of our appreciation for be there for us whenever I need them to clarify some doubting issues regarding the trending technology.

With my humble self, I appreciate your achievement of be a Hero member rank and wish you more in future. Without an iota of doubt, your threads where my very first threads that gave me hope and that of cabalism13, I will always remain grateful to those who actually took it upon themselves to assist building the Beginners & Help section of this forum; they gave us an insight into the broader forum in order to succeed.

Positive threads like yours are always welcome. As a sign of gratitude both towards merit sources but also as proof that hard work pays off and that it is possible to rank up. Those who believe that it is impossible are doing something wrong. I dont think it is off topic in Meta but maybe it could be better suited in the Beginners board for Newbies to read it and get the needed motivation to apply themselves for the ranks they desire.

I don't think it was a coincidence or merit sources just doing their "job"--you make some good, helpful posts and were rewarded for them accordingly.  If that motivated you to do even better, that's fantastic; I wish more members would adopt that attitude.

Congrats on hitting Hero member.  Getting up to Legendary these days is a Herculean task, but I have confidence you'll make it.  It'll take some time, just like it did for members before the merit system, but you'll get there.  Best of luck in your journey.

In fact, you will need to more weeks to rank up, but it does not a big matter. I remember that I ranked up to Full Member and Senior Member around a few weeks before you. But now, you raced so fast to the Hero Member rank. That's not only a really big surprise, but also a motivation for me. 

Congratulations for ranking up now as a Hero Member Brainboss, as saying that I have learned from an Anime "hard work never betrays".

You really are the suited user that is worthy of emulation to those on the lower ranks that want to rank up.

Wow it has been an interesting journey and fruitful mid-year, starter this year by ranking up from member rank to Full member (January) and now I just achieved the Hero member status (July). Sorry if you consider this type of posts not necessary but where I'm from, we were taught (in koffee's voice) that gratitude is a must & as I grew up with that mindset it has helped me alot even during difficult times as just a heartfelt thank you has given me more favors than I ever imagined. I remember when I was a full member needing around +/- 30 merits to rank up I recieved simultaneously merit from a source and out of joy I thanked him, the next day more sources awarded my quality post merits which ranked me up. Don't know if it was a mere coincidence or merit sources just doing their thing but still it was an experience that motivated me into putting in more effort into adding to my knowledge and contributing in the little way I could to interesting and quality discussion and so far my efforts has been rewarded.

I must say, you won't understand the work inwhich these sources (especially those with more responsibility due to the large number of monthly allocations) put into searching for merit worthy post as they have to read through bunch of spams just to find worthy posts, you won't understand their selfless act, volunteering their time to contribute to the affair of the forum until you experience it yourself.  We don't appreciate these guys enough so i just wanted to let everyone part of the system that keeps the forum active, from the admin to moderators to recovery team to DT members to merit sources to quality campaign managers down to decent forum users, that your work is been appreciated and you should keep up the good work.

This was meant to be a self congratulating post but instead I want to congratulate all those that made this journey successful, thank you all especially my biggest merit fans. I'll continue contributing in the best way I can.
