I have a 7870 running XP and have the same problem. No OpenCL devices. have tried all the different driver versions I could get my hands on, and the different SDK's to no avail. Going to boot a linux and see how that works

I had same problem, and no solution for it. I gave up trying to work with XP.

Try with trial version of Windows 8 Enterprise Edition (90 days, possibility of 180 days). There everything  works ok.

Hey,

I know this is a new post, but i'm having the same issues.  I've read above and installed all SDK versions with Catalyst.  The closest i've gotten is just getting the CPU under "Device" in GUIminer.  I have a 5970 and running XP.... How do I resolve this issue?

Thanks

Oh yeah can def be done I don't have any experience with ATi cards + XP but the majority of my mining is on XP (old school!) with an nvidia card using GUIMiner Grin

Well now the only problem I'm running into is that I can't enable opencl on my 5970!!! I was getting prompt telling me that the current display drivers don't support opencl but I didn't get that error when I installed sdk 2.6 only got the prompt with 2.2 and 2.3.

Can I get some help!!!

You'll want to download catalyst 11.12 which includes sdk 2.6: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/previous/11/Pages/radeon.aspx?os=Windows%20Vista%20-%2032-Bit%20Edition&rev=11.12

Did you try upgrading your Ati drivers?

Also try GUIMiner it's much easier to use and works for both OpenCL(Ati) and Cuda(nVidia)

It is very possible to run under XP.
I upgraded all of them since, but my first one was XP.

Try this one, think it was the one I used when I helped a friend reload one of his older machines awhile back.
Looks like the same site anyways. Smiley

I've got a rig with a 5970 in it and I've installed all the ati drivers including the amd app sdk, however when I run guiminer it tells me it can't find any opencl devices. I've read around about how I may need an earlier version of the sdk but the archive on amd's site tells me the page cannot be found.

Am I able to mine using windows xp or am I going to have to commit to getting another copy of windows 7  Undecided

Edit: Ended up just dumping windows entirely and using BAMT, works way better and easy to install!
