Sounds like a good idea, then maybe we can delete any new merit threads. Smiley

Seems the trend is for everyone to start a merit contest in the hopes of getting more merit themselves....

I'm going to write a welcome post that will probably be stickied and linked to when people sign up with links to all the rules and guides and FAQs etc so people don't ask the same questions over and over.

Among other things, people talking about earning merit or ways to earn merit should be moved to somewhere it will be of benefit for people, especially those that will need to know about it. 90% of the users on this forum are more than aware of how the merit system works now and if they need help they should look in the subforum with "Help" in the title. New users to the forum will likely be looking at the merit system like "wtf?" and if they can't find the proper information in the section that exists to help them. Sure, some may stray into the Meta section, but they should be able to find the proper information they need without potentially missing it because it's not where they'd think to find it. Initially anyways.

As of this post, there is not a single thread I can see, not even a stickied one, which talks about the merit system within the Beginners and Help subforum.

Also I think there needs to be a limitation on people saying that "x post deserves merit" or "y person should get merited" within Meta. While being another thread for another day, you can make your comments known somewhere else. This is supposed to be discussion about the forum as an entity itself, not the users.
