Browser based mining indeed sounds interesting and a bit different than POW or POS. Have thought that I should try it out but my laziness always gets the better of me . Don't think you can make a killing of it but still.

well I never heard about something like that, I thought there are some plugins for different browsers like coinhive or similar which are mining on your pc trough the browser extension... so the news that there is a special coin designed for mining in the browser Is a very curious info, will check It out.

This is probably the biggest flaw that I see with these web-mined coins- there'll almost certainly be at least adblockers or something of the sort blocking out these web miners as soon as they start popping up widely on sites, and the subject of crypto overall is still relatively unknown as of right now, though adoption is helping the news get out more about crypto. I can only really see this being adopted on sites that are already targeting crypto-browsing users as well.

One thing I always liked about coins like JSEcoin is that they are actively communicating with the makers of web browsers, antivirus programs, etc., to prove that they are not malicious. For example, JSEcoin; it would be very hard for some criminal to hide JSEcoin in a web page, because, the way it is designed, there's always a big ol' JSEcoin logo at the bottom of the page! With that clear logo, no criminal will get very far, because the victims will see the big ol' logo on the bottom that you have to click past! In other words, it's too transparent for any malicious intent to be effective. So that's why I like these browser-mine-specific coins better than Cryptonight miners. Especially since JSEcoin is actually talking with these security people and browser manufacturers to prove that they are better than a Cryptonight miner; that was always amazing to me.

Actually for the Browser developers (Google, Firefox, Microsoft, Opera, ...) it doesn't matter much if the "browser mining" is done because the user wants to mine or he just ended up on an infected website.
Since most people surfing the web are not educated about crypto mining, the browser mining has a much better chance to be malicious than intended.

All this make browser mining mostly a no-go, since there's a good chance the browsers will develop a safety guard against such miners.

Just so you know, the thread wasn't talking about Cryptonight coins at all. I don't like those browser miners either; the ones that mine Monero and other Cryptonight coins. The coins we are talking about are WebDollar, JSEcoin and Hadron; these three cryptocurrencies are unique because the people who invented the coins had browser mining in mind! So I will answer the original question that way; these browser miner-specific coins are a rather new invention, with Nimiq being tested in June 2017, JSEcoin in August 2017, WebDollar later in 2017, and Hadron likely came along early this year. Since they are a new concept, these coins are not really exchangeable yet. But, as easy-to-use pieces of cryptocurrency software, I give them a double thumbs up, and they are much less shady than those sneaky Cryptonight miners. For example, all websites that run the JSEcoin miner warn the user, and the CPU hashing is nice and relaxed and doesn't cause the fan to crank up, because the algorithm was built for relaxed browser mining. However, these coins, WebDollar, JSEcoin and Hadron, are not to be confused with those Cryptonight miners, these currencies were built for the browser, but unfortunately, being a new invention, people can't exchange them yet. Hope that answers the question. However, there's a light at the end of the tunnel; JSEcoin is starting its ICO on July 11! And it's better than all the other ICO's! Why? Because most ICO's just have a whitepaper; this one, JSEcoin, you can mine it and transact with it right now; they already have a working version of the program! It's just not on exchanges yet. But with this breaking news, I have a feeling it will be!

The answer to this is short. A big NO. The reason is because they through your browser are using your processor power to mine cryptonight coins and they pay you way less than if you do mine for yourself with your processor. There is also another risk, they can inject malware through javascript using your browser, so stop using it if you are already doing so.

Does it even matter if you ask? Browser based mining is not very profitable for some time now and as of the latest news, google will be stricter with browser mining. In fact, i believe they've already banned browser mining extensions.

Hadron web mining is now in its alpha mining phase.HADRON interesting and promising project, it makes the cryptocurrency more popular giving the opportunity to mining the cryptocurrency on its smartphone and also through the pc  browser. www.webdollar.io is a quite interesting project that is developing a browser mining algorithm, I follow them for a while. They are using Argon2D and NiPoPow

There are some browser based mining coins; such as Hadron, JSEcoin...etc. What's the best possible coin that can be mined just using computer browser and is profitable to do so? I am just collecting your opinions and later combine them as a writing (if possible) for public interest.
