Yes, thanks for letting us know about the new release. I downloaded a "nightly build" a couple months ago but was disappointed with all the bugs still in it. I've been looking forward to the 2.0 release.

Thanks for that. I love Jitsi, but I was just about to say the project has seemed pretty dead with no new releases in a while.

Program used to capture and analyze the data flow on network. It is called network sniffer. Requires some knowledge about networks and how to use and interpret results.Quote
What is flawed about the SIP protocol?
It requires centralized server to communicate. Also have some problems when operating behind NAT (router). It is old-school fashion that might work exceptionally well in some scenarios but P2P technology that Skype pioneered in VoIP is the way to go. It is completely secure from eavesdropping of contents, both IM and voice calls. It is open source with proper implementations. It is easy to use.
I don't know how anonymous it could be made when used with Tor. It still could leak DNS requests or other information, did not check Jitsi with Wireshark. I will still use TorChat for ultimate anonymity.
It is finally the workable solution that can replace Skype right now. Sure the SIP protocol is just as flawed by design as FTP is. But it is better than nothing.

I am far from being the most computer savvy person on the forum. Does anyone have any opinions on Jitsi for secure communications? I haven't really seen much discussion about it on the Internet.
