Hey,

I know its an old thread, but any update with this? Was looking for a good widget

Charlie

What are you looking for in a widget? I might be able to throw something together to just show current prices from a few places.

So, basically, this was just a fake.. a Photoshopped image?  Smiley

Nope, still working on it. Also you wouldn't need to use Photoshop to fake it - it'd be easier to fake it just by dragging and dropping bits in Dashcode - but then you'd have made half the widget already Tongue

Here's a few more screenshots:

Since then:
Better styling
Added BTC/Day counter
Removed mining.bitcoin.cz stats
Added BTC/day stats
Added BTCGuild worker stats - it also sets this from your current speed on BTCGuild
Use MtGoxLive's bitcoin explorer mirror

Still todo:
Add support for TradeHill as well as MtGox.
Remove DaysPerBlock as it's not that achievable now
Store data in prefs for user settings
Support other mining pools than BTCGuild (but not all provide nice stats)
Add predicted next difficulty and retarget meters

As a novice to BTC, and one of the minorities as a OS X user, I'd be interested in this. I also am learning coding with REALStudio and may implement some stand-alone tools for all 3 platforms (REALStudio apps compile to executable binaries for OS X, Linux and Windows).

The more Mac/OS X coders we have, the more we can contribute -- now if I could only code a native miner....

Shameless plug:

I recently made a simple OSX widget similar to this, although there's only mtgox prices.
I'd be glad to share it if OP doesn't answer Smiley

I've been working on it for a bit, it displays statistics from the JSON feeds of a few bitcoin-related sites. Clicking the green headings takes you to that site.

I may even make it able to access your local bitcoin client via JSON-RPC so it can display some stats from there. At the moment it feeds off MtGox, mining.bitcoin.cz and BlockExplorer.

It's my first Dashboard widget (wow, haven't gotten to coding one until now).

Instead of asking for anything upfront before I start development, I'm going to release it and take donations.

Current Features:
  • MtGox Exchange Prices
  • mining.bitcoin.cz stats
  • Network stats from BlockExplorer (block count, difficulty, average TeraHashes to win block, number of days this will take (hashes/sec for calculation is adjustable on the back)

Helpful actions:
  • Suggest features that I could implement
  • Suggest additional data feeds I could display (JSON format vastly preferred)
  • Send me bitcoins (address is on the back of the widget when I release it).
