Aquaman looking very manly : nice undersized pink tuxedo, nice scrunchy on the wrist...  Grin

I reckon those are pink 1800s style ruffles on his wrists but he was very embarassed to appear unKhal Drogo like and he folded them hehehehe. The pink suit is fine, however.

The odds are on these are way too long.

He's only gone and done it, I knew it was too long on the odds - fair enough Rami as actor was alot shorter but I dont think it was ever 17 to 1. Oscar reasoning is like weighted in pure emotion and thats why he won I think.    Going way back in time now but also I remember Philadelphia winning and I bet people underestimated Tom Hanks odds at that point too.

Roma - 1.83
Spike Lee (BlacKkKlansman) - 9.00
Christian Bale (Vice) - 2.00
Yalitza Aparicio (Roma) - 17.00

I would bet on those names. They are not necessarily the ones I liked the most. But those are the ones that seem most reasonable to win some money. Rome as a movie is almost certain. Spike Lee sounds like a fun name to bet. Because of his career, by the political positioning he has and for perhaps being the great and unique opportunity for him.

Bale, as well as Rome, seems like a sure bet too. Almost impossible to lose. And he deserves it, is incredible in the film and would be a prize for all the transformations he went through.

Yalitza could be a surprise and bring a good return on the bet.

I was so wrong LOL

And Roma was a safe bet. It really surprises me that they have lost. Whoever has bet on the winners have probably won big as none of them were the favorites.

Bhoemian Rhapsody deserves it all including the cast. However, I'm not very hopeful when it comes to Oscars because they are not known to award the deserving movies but the commercially successful ones. This is all pre-planned and decided before the actual ceremony so don't let your bets fool you.

Lol. Rami Malek bagged the best actor award buddy. Looks like your prediction was off here. I do agree that what you said does tend to happen majority of the time, which is why this is a minority case.

Some people actually feel that Rami does not deserve the Oscar which I find preposterous since he already established himself as a versatile actor thanks to his Mr.Robot role.

Same here. I am not a big fan of these award shows, but I do respect them generally. Johnny Depp is easily one of my favorite actors of this generation and it is seriously silly that he has not been awarded an Oscar yet.

The guy deserves tons of oscars for this insane performances over the years. At least, Leonardo DiCaprio bagged an Oscar at last who was another person who freaking deserved multiple oscars for his stellar performances.

Been watching it on and off then hear this from Samuel L jackson.
https://nypost.com/2019/02/24/spike-lee-endorses-tank-after-hearing-news-of-knicks-win-at-oscars
Just to rub in the knicks finally winning a home game.

But overall it seems the favorites are winning. Last one I heard was Roma which every knew would win something.

Roma is only the 5th film to be nominated for best picture and best foreign film at the same time. However, it will be the first time in history for a film to win in those 2 categories at the same time if Roma wins both.

I reckon this might not occur. Cold War might win best foreign film and the odds is good on 6.75 hehe.

The odds have changed for the best actor category. Rami Malek is now favorite with 1.44 and Christian Bale with 2.00.

Christian Bale might be better to bet. The last 9 out of 10 actors that won a Golden Globe have also won an Oscar, and Christian Bale won the Golden Globe for best actor for The Vice.

Actually they both won.
Malek is best actor in the Drama category and Bale is best actor in the Musical/Comedy category.

This makes it more confusing hehehe. However, outside of the academy's politics, I reckon Christian Bale did a better job in portraying Dick Cheney than Rami Malek in portraying Freddie Mercury.

@Patatas. I was not happy with the movie. It was just a generic band movie. I wish Sacha Baron Cohen did Freddie Mercury. He might have given us a new angle and more depth on his story. He also has the face for it, Rami Malek did not.

I dont think its predecided like that, its the whole range of votes from the academy holders barring Harvey Weinstein who was removed.   Somebody probably does know the count beforehand mostly they do not apart from consensus stated, so they'll be a feeling of who'll win maybe but theres enough diversity that people generally dont know for sure.
They'd surely bet if they could, despite many being rich everyone in acting knows somebody who hasnt had a proper job for years and needs the money ie. word would get out and ruin that tradition, they take it too serious imo

The Oscar Awards are back for all you couch potatoes who also love gambling hehehe.

The ceremony will be on February 24, 2019. Share your predictions! I will share mine after a complete and thorough study hehehehe.

All odds listed are from nitrogensports.eu.

Also, share your predictions on other categories and odds available like best screenplay or best cinematography from other sportsbooks.

Best Picture

Roma - 1.83
Green Book - 5.00
A Star Is Born - 9.00
BlacKkKlansman - 10.00
The Favourite - 11.00
Bohemian Rhapsody - 17.00
Black Panther - 34.00
Vice - 51.00

Best Director

Alfonso Cuaron (Roma) - 1.071
Spike Lee (BlacKkKlansman) - 9.00
Adam McKay (Vice) - 26.00
Pawel Pawlikowski (Cold War) - 26.00
Yorgos Lanthimos (The Favourite) - 26.00
Thanks for sharing these! I am not sure I'm going to bet, but watching the Oscars and making predictions is among my family's traditions. I am still in the process of watching all the key movies, but there's luckily still time for that. What's also interesting is that I remember some betting crypto website a year ago, and the choices of the majority were actually extremely accurate! They guessed like 80% right! Surprises can always happen, of course, like last year with the mix-up of the winner of the "best picture". It makes it pretty exciting to watch.

In any case, there are other categories added in Nitrogensports that are more unpredictable, like best make up and hairstyling with The Vice as favorite with 1.083 and Mary Queen of Scots with 7.50. I reckon period piece movies like Mary Queen of Scots should have good expectations to win in these types of categories.

Watch Roma! It is on Netflix now if you have it. If not, there is always torrents hehehe. There is no excuse not to be able to watch the latest movies anymore.

I've seen the trailer and honestly this is exactly the kind of movie I don't care about, all about style, photography but no real story or characters (I really don't like Terrence Malick's movies for example).
Tell me I'm wrong, that this is more than a "beautiful long clip" and I might watch it... eventually.

Terrence Malik is different. He has an unrelatable style that maybe only his filmmaker peers or the critic would understand and admire, I reckon.

Alfonso Cuaron's films is about human emotion in the face of adversity that all ordinary moviegoers can relate to. Watch Y Tu Mama Tambien, one of his earlier work.

I've only seen Green Book, Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman and Bohemian Rhapsody.I think the first one is Oscar material, not the other three.
If I had to bet, I'd go with Roma, Rami Malek, Glenn Close and Spike Lee.

Yeah that's the thing about voting for the Oscars that we should watch all of the movies listed there, i normally watch the new ones later since i'm busy with other things.

This is a pretty good idea though, gambling could be expanded to other areas not only the regular games and sports.

I should say that we can sure bet on everything nowadays especially that gambling has no limits we can sure predict and have a bet on everything we can think on just saying.

But this should be my picks if I would bet on an Oscar nominee and for the matter, we can not even say if who's or what movie's going to win, I'll go with

Best Picture: Black Panther, Bohemian Rhapsody Or Aquaman if that would be included in the oscar and I am picking these three because of the stunning effects they had in it.

Best Director: Adam McKay would be my pick well after he won 2015 Academy Award for Best Director on The Big Short He is venturing more on the dramatic sense of territory and I should say he can be qualified for it as well.

Best Actor: Would be Willem Dafoe for me in his role in the Movie, At Eternitys Gate is astonishing and brilliant indeed my second choice will be Rami Malek because Freddie Mercury comes back to life after he takes the role and I really like his acting that he had portrayed in him.

For Best Actress, I haven't picked anyone yet because I haven't seen any of the movies yet.

@asche. Freddie Mercury was gay wasn't he and he also died of AIDS which might have been contracted from other gay men or drug use?

He was not a saint, I reckon. He was gay and wild, which is something not to condemn him about.

Not codemning that.
However the Freddy Mercury from the movie was nothing like the real Freddy. Ok both had aids and were gay.

But in the movie he is kinda presented like "somewhat gay/bisexual", which is not who he was at all.

Twisting the story like the producer/scenarist did, is blatant homophobia to me at worst, or just a way to make more money off the movie because it fits the narrative better. He can do what he want with fiction. But when you mix fiction and history and sell it as a biography, I don't like it.

There are a lot of very good written critics about this you can read, I did. They are enlightening Smiley

If you hated the way he was portrayed in that movie, maybe you would have hated Sacha Cohen's portrayal. His would have drug parties with cocaine served on plates on top of women's heads and orgies with men and women hehehe.

That might be the kind of person he was outside of Queen.

There is now a betting for Oscar's? That was insane Shocked. If this is possible then why I haven't heard any betting happened for Ms. Universe?
That was exactly my first impression when I saw the title of the topic : we are now betting for everything  Tongue

Anyway, I think Black Panther had greater chance of winning compare to others if we will based on the impact it brought to the crowd because it was a blockbuster hit and definitely hooked its viewers (Marvel rocks! Lol).
Again i have the same feeling, Black Panther has nice odds to win.

I reckon many Queen fans would hate Sacha Cohen Baron's version of Freddie Mercury. Sacha wanted to show Freddie Mercury the man including all the orgies and the drugs. The remaining members of Queen wanted to protect their legacy as a band, according to Sacha.

It is just that whatever he wanted to show is NOT the reality. Not to mention ow his sexual orientation is handled in the movie. It is a pure joke.

The name should have been Bohemian Blasphemy.

Thats why the original star quit, it was going to be sacha baron cohen who had arranged the movie for years apparently.   It was no go with the original band    But then he isnt an actor exactly but I believe he could have pulled it off.   He wanted the realistic story, no hollywood gloss over Freddy's end.   Obviously that'd be a harsh movie, entirely different.    Thats the movie that would deserve an oscar, depends what they are awarding because no doubt the movie made money.   Theres a whole generation who arent acquainted with his music

Bohemian Rhapsody - 17.00
Black Panther - 34.00
Vice - 51.00

The odds are on these are way too long.   VICE relates to quite recent events, maybe thats too political to gain main support.  Bush is not ancient history but thats very long odds without good reason afaik.  [Also there is a strong disparity to the odds on main actor]

Black Panther could be a surprise win because oscars was called out a year or so ago for being too much of a whites only ceremony.   I wont say on that either way but they are very PC orientated seems like.  To me this is ridiculous reasoning to be in favour of anything but it could tip the scales more then expected

Ditto Rhapsody, for anyone not old enough to remember Mercury's death it was part of the shock deaths from AIDS era.   He is an icon for that movement and possibly again not entirely sound reasoning but for PC reasons the film could be a surprise contender.     Thats not the sum total of my reasoning, I'm only mentioning what others havent as a possible factor.    The host himself proposed this year has already been kicked out for old anti gay jokes and so on, its part of the atmosphere that frames judging

Didn't know you could place bets on the oscars but this shouldn't of surprised me considering all of the other crazy bets I've seen.  There could easily be corruption with the voting members, this is very different from a sports match because this has a predetermined outcome that may leak.

On a side note, I'm not a fan of the oscars, they never award comedies and its a crime that Johnny Depp still hasn't won.

I trust these exchanges more than ever now. Reason is the world beauty peagent or whatever it is called, there was 20-30 or even more woman competing in that and the topic was "beauty" like as in something that changes from person to person and there was a bunch of people who supported one woman while the others supported the other basically there was a lot of people supporting all of the woman competing but the odds were in favor of a woman who I think wasn't the prettiest in that yet she won, that means betting websites know something we don't know.

That being said if the odds are in favor of Roma that means Roma will win, if you ask me with all the political turmoil of the world blackkklansman had a chance because it tells a message clearly but looking at odds it looks 10.00 so I doubt it will have a chance at all.
