Marketing for both the campaign and airdrop requires social media to reach people who do not know to know more. There are no different solutions to how it works not to use them.
Maybe in the future, there is another project nickname that could benefit besides airdrop and IEO. But still, social media is the benchmark of their community to drive the progress of a project.

If a coin get advertised on big websites like CMC or good wallet platform like coinbase or coinomi they will surely see good investors because many people trust these big platforms better than social media like facebook and twitter
But it comes down to the investors' own judgement and most of them aren't trusting project just because it got listed into a platform like CMC although if it already got listed into a reputed exchange it's more likely to be a legit project no one knows whether a project could hold on in the future and even progress further.Some unique fact that I recently know is promoting through emails also considered the most effective because people are frequently checking their emails for deals and unread messages.

There is not much platform where projects can market but in bitcoin and crypto forums. Social media doesn't even work much for them unless they do google advertising which they can target coiners but this will cost a lot, probably even more than spending thousands in bitcointalk advertising. Paid articles work but has to be with the crypto influencers, this must be an opportunity for influencers there are only few of them but if the project fails, this influencer will not be influential in months.

bounty campaigns on this forum is very effective for marketing of any project or cryptocurrency related business but many people now do not trust on the future of new coins so the developers need to pay in BTC for doing these campaigns which will again attract promoters. Along with that they also have to buy ad placements on crypto related websites and blockchain news websites and blogs which also increase the publicity of the business.
Project itself should do their part to make their look and be really interesting so when it will be promoted many can look into it since it's new and eye catching. I know there are still potential investors for new projects. It's just the developers we're lacking. Once the project is too good even they pay in their own token many can still consider it to join in their bounties.

If so, I think what this post should be about is for the projects to inculcate new way of rewarding users such as smartdrop and earndrop etc. These get the best hand for promoting the project. I did one for MorpheusLabs that earned me $1k. I gave in my best more than mere tweeting or liking, I wrote article that cost me up to 24hrs to complete it. I ensure i promoted my posts to friends and do other few tasks. I detest airdrop with passion. It is a practical waste of time and energy. In the end, one cannot even send to exchange.

Depends on the project you're advertising as some projects go to the extend of advertising on other cryptocurrency related forum that isn't bitcointalk, not all project are willing to advert on platforms that doesn't have cryptocurrency audience in their numbers like (Instagram) since they're trying to manage the available funds and get the best out of their paid adverts.
Physical advertising are also utilized by some projects as you're required to promote their project physically in your geographical location like hosting seminars or meetups, printing banners or T-shirts with the projects name etc. It boils down to the project you're advertising although this type of advertisment aren't common in bounty campaigns.

I don't see any other effective way of marketing today except bounty but if the project team has enough capital they can just go for top exchange instead, this will do all the marketing and better awareness too, for example its hard to see IEO projects on binance doing bounty

I think the current method is good enough like airdrop, bounty and others. The problem is the results we receive later are not satisfactory. Therefore, I think the method above does not need to be replaced but only the payment is replaced, it must be paid directly with coins that already have a price. Thus the project that appears is not just any project that only wants to find funding and run away after profit.

Most common being the cost factor, next is the worthiness of the project. Many projects come up with good plans, but due to some issues in between it gets termed to be a scam. This when promoted through paid promotion it'll also affect their reputation. For this reason most promotions happens within the cryptocurrency community.

It can, in my experience i have seen so many platforms are doing marketing campaign through use the facebook ads. But again, that consumes a lot of money compared when you are trying to use the bounty campaign as your marketing technique. There is no a lot of ways to do a marketing campaign that doesn't cost a lot of money. You can advertise through using the google ads or something else but i think the developer is also thinking about how can they manage their money. The efficiency of the banner advertisement is still a big question, consider when you are using the service that already made by the big platform. That means you are targetting all of the people and how much people that will be interested in your banner can't be defined. Advertising outside of specifically crypto-oriented places like this forum can be a good thing for some projects if these projects are designed to be simple to understand and newbie-friendly as you're getting a new set of eyes to look at your project outside of the typical crypto investors that might otherwise skip over your project for something else, but I do agree that it's certainly not the most effective way to attract investors as there are also plenty of people that just don't care about cryptocurrency or still think it's too difficult to understand or other reasons too. Might be a good idea to try if you've got the funds to do so, however.

The funds needed are also quite a lot more in comparison with the bounty campaign. On Facebook, Twitter, Telegram can use paid advertising and will reach everyone.

Medium, Reddit, i think there are a lot of ways to reach people in any online platform. And usually which contain crypto news is like what i mention before. I think if project think bounty is not really good for them anymore, they will do anything else to promote their project.

Recently many projects have chosen to target the potential markets and build a community of projects there. However, this approach is quite local and makes the project not widely known around the world. So I think bounty is still a cost effective way for marketing today, even though the impact is sometimes less than expected. The only place left for ICO marketing is paid advertising in social media platforms like Linkedin. But majority of the ICO companies usually don't use paid advertising because of the cost factor. Otherwise, that's the only marketing platform that I see less used in crypto segment!
Also I think, video streaming platforms like youtube or vimeo or dailymotion have not been used properly for ICO marketing! So you might have a chance to explore that platform. Majority of the ICO marketing videos are quite poorly created with rubbish animation and broken voices!
Apart from these two platforms, I don't think any other methods are left unused! Hope this helps!
