We have been coming across thousands of ICO projects here every day and in last 10 years I am sure there would have been at least 100k of projects announced in this forum and did airdrop to bounties to campaigns in last 10 years. As expected more than 95% of them turned scam to shitcoins/tokens still there might be some projects launched their business and surviving.

I am just curious on learning what are the projects announced or did ICO on this forum and entered into real business or at least being traded in exchanges with decent volume for more than 1 year.

In my observation,
1. Litecoin : Oldest altcoin surviving which was announced here.
2. Dogecoin: Had ANN topic here.
3. Ethereum : Did ICO here.
4. Crypto.com : Did ICO and bounties.

If you are aware of any project, please continue this list and let's discuss on why we still run behind altcoins/tokens even after lots of scams.

Probably you are right, Litecoin (LTC) was the first altcoin which was created in 2011 as fork of Bitcoin with similarl features of Bitcoin, that is why it is often called mini Bitcoin, its network is faster with lower transaction fee compared to Bitcoin.. It has been discussed many times on Bitcointalk forum regading its technical and fundamental analysis but I don't think its bounty campaign was ever launched here.

Ethereum was the first to introduce smart contracts, and its ICO was launched in 2014, as well as its bounty campaign was launched on Bitcointalk forum during its early days.

Dogecoin was not launched through ICO, it was created for fun and to pay tips/rewards, and its bounty campaign was launched on Bitcointalk forum, however it has been extensively discussed here.
Even we have short history of Crypto but still its having many interesting things around with no one having enough time to bring things in limelight for next generation in this small history we started this journey from Bitcoin in 2009 and until now we have 11,000 cryptocurrencies which exist its insane development for me in this field.
Matter is not ending here because currently we have nearly 50 cryptocurrencies which are having market capital more than $1 Billion which is another huge achievement for newbie like me which is entering and having some interest take his share from this.
I am sure no one will be having actual figures about this with no one also have enough time for doing this because its never been easy to bring on one place with all details.

Im not sure if making a list of ANN projects would actually be that useful or not.  I mean, yeah, it might help folks see which ones are still kicking around and active on Bitcointalk.  But it could also show which of em up and moved on over to other platforms and stuff.

Still, I can see some problems with trying to put a list like that together.  For one thing it would probably take a crapload of time to get everything compiled.

There are many surviving projects that initially made an ICO or at least made an ANN topic in this forum, but what will we get when we make a long list of ANN projects? It's also possible that the representatives or @OPs of those topics are no longer active in the forum & prefer to spread information about the project on a more mainstream platform than Bitcointalk.
There is no doubt in short history of Crypto we have too much which are talkable or needed to be done, but this is huge time consumed and no one having enough to do this while ICO and ANN are still having history on this forum which are helpful but who cares.
Currently, we have thousands coins/tokens with just few are surviving for long time and in near future we will have more which will be died with many new will be joined this community mean it's all part of system we have no other better platform like Bitcointalk where we can talk or have enough material related to this but here no one have all details about this.

I don't think you had any idea what an ICO was. You seem to be totally clueless ( or maybe that feedback of you not being the real owner of the account is actually true!)

Why do you talk about Litecoin and Dogecoin in the topic of ICOs?  Roll Eyes
By the way, there were far more altcoins before ethereum came into the game and some of them are still pushing on despite being low-key.
You can be right about his account but as far as I understand, he did not mean to relate Doge and LTC with ICO instead he said Doge and LTC both had ANN or a discussion thread started first here. I always thought there was no altcoin that came into being before Ethereum but I just checked and Doge, LTC also came before ETH.

ETH was the first ICO project maybe that's why I'm confused here.

Waves must be one of old coin which had roots into this forum: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/waves

If my memory serves me better, I guess waves did signature campaign as well.
Sounds like a good idea. Still, I like to suggest you do not believe into altcoins because some may fail even after 2 years or even after 5 years also. I am really surprised that we had ICO projects for almost every sector like solar, agri, platforms for doctors, education, drones, file hosting etc etc but I could not recall any one them launched their real time business.
Waves is a good project and if you are talking about this signature campaign then you are right https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/wavessignature-campaign-1943988 number of projects are lesser which have survived till now on forum as OP said 95% of them scammed.

If we are able to find any pattern on surviving projects from their early days, we may get chances to figure out a similar one from current/future new projects.

Centralised exchanges are looking like pretty bad platforms nowadays.

Very few of them seem to be like FreiExchange / FreiXlite exchange in actually taking on coins because they support them rather than just carrying whatever will bribe them to do so then dropping them ultimately because they themselves never had any intent of supporting them or never even really believed in them.

So probably much better to watch for projects that are able to list themselves, such as on token platforms or "atomic cross-chain trades" platforms or whatever, platforms where a project can list itself without any central body or whatever that can censor their listing; that way no worries about the growing power of centralised exchanges to censor what projects end-users can choose to trade.

There may be more announced-here things still running than you think but you seem to be choosing to focus only on what centralised exchanges have failed thus far to censor.

(Centralised miss-called "DEX"s too I guess, I get impression many things calling themselves a DEX actually censor stuff.)

There are many surviving projects that initially made an ICO or at least made an ANN topic in this forum, but what will we get when we make a long list of ANN projects?
Many? I highly doubt it, there could be less than 100 projects surviving when we apply the criteria of being listed for at least 12 months. It means there could be lots of projects which had ANN topic here and/or conducted ICO and bounties and being listed on exchanges but existing even after 12 months with being listed must be a big task for shitcoins. So, I am not expecting a big list here.

Binance Coin (BNB): Initially launched as an ICO here and now a major player in crypto exchanges.
Polygon (MATIC): Gained traction post-ICO and is now a key player in scaling Ethereum.
Cardano (ADA): Had its early roots in forums and is still actively traded with ongoing development.
Chainlink (LINK): Started small and is now a leader in decentralized oracles.
Thanks for the list. Let me check and find their ANN/ICO/bounty topics.

what will we get when we make a long list of ANN projects?
First, we are NOT focusing on the projects which had just ANN topic but surviving till today.
If we are able to find any pattern on surviving projects from their early days, we may get chances to figure out a similar one from current/future new projects.

You're right—most ICOs and airdrops over the years have ended up as scams or failed projects. But a few have stood the test of time. Adding to your list:

Binance Coin (BNB): Initially launched as an ICO here and now a major player in crypto exchanges.
Polygon (MATIC): Gained traction post-ICO and is now a key player in scaling Ethereum.
Cardano (ADA): Had its early roots in forums and is still actively traded with ongoing development.
Chainlink (LINK): Started small and is now a leader in decentralized oracles.

We chase altcoins because of the hope of "getting in early" on the next big thing. It’s speculative, but the allure of massive returns keeps the cycle going, even if the success rate is dismal.
