Eadem mutata resurgo

They seem to have finally figured out that putting a single centrifugal fan at one end of two processors is not a good idea ... one always runs hotter than the other.

6990 has fan centrally located so each GPU gets equal fan pressure ... but does make you wonder about the end of the card that will vent inside the PC case, so probably still one GPU will run hotter, just not as much.

5970 that offers 90% of 6990 processing power can be still purchased for 70% of price, and you can get them used which make price to power ratio even better

still, looks like great piece of hardware Cheesy

Yes and will be a bigger supply of 5970's (and other 58xx etc) once the 6990 starts shipping in volume as gamers upgrade their rigs.

nice thing, but price is around €650 with taxes, ex. delivery, at the moment
considering that price most likely will fall ~€100 in next month or two (due to [most likely] limited supply of 6990 at the moment and fact that gtx 595 is coming soon), and that 6990 is probably no more than 10-15% faster in mining comparing to 5970 I will definitely wait until end of April with purchase
