OwnPaste at it's most basic use case is a pseudonymous paste sharing UI built upon the WebIndexP2P platform. However, it also provides a way to interact fully with WebIndexP2P to create any other content you like.

The WebIndexP2P platform is a P2P data indexing and replication platform that has a lot of similarities with other web platforms such as zeronet, secure scuttlebutt, IPFS & IPNS.

You can think of OwnPaste as an example application built on top of WebIndexP2P to showcase whats possible with the platform. You will notice there is lots of other functionality under the tools menu, these could and probably will be separated out into fully fledged apps on their own at some point.

WebIndexP2P is using CBOR encoded IPLD as its base document format. You can read more about IPLD here.

The aim is to be a foundational service providing just a few primitives to support larger decentralized applications above it. The platform also uses it's own P2P network to ensure there are thousands of OwnPaste nodes around the world and shutting down one node will not break the platform.

This software can be beneficial on a world stage but also in a small office or large organization, get in contact to discuss how it can improve your workplace and discuss custom private builds.

Some design goals include:

No login or sign-up required. No Email addresses or phone numbers etc.
Very user friendly. Just load the page and submit a paste.
Low maintenence, built in spam prevention via time based reputation system
Scalable, only store the latest paste for each identity
Redundancy, using P2P tech to distribute pastes across servers around the world

WebIndexP2P cryptography is based on Ethereum cryptographic signatures, browser libraries provided by the Ethereum community.

If you'd like to get involved get in contact using any of the methods listed on the contact page, if you'd like to financially support the project, head over to the donate page to see if there is an option you'd be interested in.
