Fuck me.... After nearly 2 days P2pool just got a block...

19 - Dec - 2014 @ 11:19pm
It's up and down but in the end it should work out. I have the majority of my hashing on here now and it won't be going anywhere any time soon.

Cause if u dont then move along nothing to see here! (Sorry don't mean to be rude)

Do u know what ur mining? What coin & if its BTC then ur lifting way above your weight.

32mh's?Huh Dude i'm running 2.5th. times urs by 100,00,000.0000

& im just making money....

Do u have a BTC wallet & receiving address??

What are u using to mine?? & how do u know what or if its mining?? ATI graphics have the best mining ability but we have since moved on from miming on CPU to GPU to ASIC, (Wikipedia = Bitcoin mining asic & have a small read)

Who are u currently mining?

What coin are u mining?

& what country do u live???

Gui miner, jeeeezzzzz... I haven't used guiminer since i learnt how to mnie using a proxy or a cmd client, All my current asic miners have a mining client built in & don't need a pc to operate. Completely independent for themselves...

Hi guys, new to the whole bitcoin scene and stumbled upon this pool.

Currently mining using GUIMiner on my laptop and mining at 32ish MHash/s (this is slow, right?). I have a couple of questions:

What are shares? Mine is currently showing 10 shares accepted

How and when do I get my bitcoins?

How do I keep track of the transactions?

Will mining on my laptop fry it?

If anyone could give me an answer, that would be great. Sorry, total noooob here.

Good luck here.....

Ill take a quick shot in the dark here & my first question straight off the bat is??

Do u live in Australia???

Norgz,

When u mine with your miners are u mining with all 3 miners on the one address & if so do u find u get a lot of duplicate shares or rejects??

Maybe more that u would if u mined on a different address for each miner or would u have less chance of finding shares & get paid less if u mined under 3 addresses??

I always mine all three with the one address and don't have any issues. they all send and receive shares perfectly fine.

Cheers thanks!

Hi smoothfreeze, First of all you are not going to get a valid p2pool share on the sharechain with 32mh/s. you need around 1th/s to get shares that count towards a block.
Essentially there are small "shares" that are sent to you by the node, they contribute to a full share on the sharechain but you need to get a share before the next block comes and that share needs to stay valid until the block comes or it can drop off the sharechain.

In a nutshell it's a block broken up into a bunch of tiny bits, when you mine direct to bitcoin you must solve a whole block to get paid but on a pool, any pool, you mine shares and then you get a certain number of shares in the block based on your hashing power. each miner in a pool mines together to increase the chances of getting a block.

Aah, okay. So I was looking around the forum and I'm considering on purchasing this https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/guide-dogies-comprehensive-c-scape-hexfury-usb-setup-hd-555471, a USB powered miner. Is this good enough for mining?
Are you wanting to make money or just do it for fun? For fun I'd recommend an Antminer S1 to Make money an S3 or S4 in Australia may just earn ahead of the power it uses. If you want to get serious then the current machine of choice seems to be the Spoondliestech SP20.

Ok now u've got me, How do i go about that? Cause i have no idea... & in light of that where or who will the coins be returned to??
Like this: blockchain.info/address/1MinerGcfwXJW6BETKLPQTmKYomc1uGAXy

But put the address you were using at the end instead of mine. So you had an address with these guys for trading? Did they state that you can't mine directly to it? They usually do with exchanges.

Long story short your btc is lost and it's unlikely you'll get it back, one disadvantage of unregulated currency although you'd be no better off if you had done an eft transfer of fiat currency.

Good to hear you got it fixed. Since your shares are submitted under that Bitcoin address they belong to that address. I do not know of a way to recover those shares unfortunately.

Hey i havent been paid out on the last three blocks?? Can u tell me whats going on???
Check the graphs, you mustn't have had valid shares in the chain to pay on those blocks. Two things need to happen for a payout:
1. You need to hash shares and have them successfully submit to the sharechain
2. You need those shares to stay valid until the next block, shares can fall off before the block is solved.

I gain and loose shares all the time, that can be seen on the graphs that my payout goes up and down depending on the shares I have on the sharechain.

Norgz - Diff settings for a C1 - 1th Bitmain unit for ur p2pool?
What should they b to max it out?
Optimising Shares:

If your running S1's set to 0 ("0" defaults to lowest p2pool diff, currently 1677854.73)

And to 220.4 (optimized for 190GH/s)

is calculated as your hash rate in KH/s times 0.00000116

i.e. 190,000,000 * 0.00000116 = 220.4

Here is an example for an ant S1:

Code:

19vXrwKGUhK4cCU8tA4kWZgbChcmh9a6qj/0+220.4

If you have a hash rate over 1TH/s you might consider upping your share diff to something higher then the p2pool minimum to reduce network traffic and increase the value of your shares

For a C1 1000000000 * 0.00000116 = 1160

So something like btcaddress/0+1160

Or perhaps btcaddress/1+1160? You'll need to experiment. Considering the node only has two miners and they are a similar hash rate i doubt it will make a huge difference in the end.

The node is running the latest code from github. It also sits right next to Matt's Aussie relay server. Unfortunately due to network latency and lack of good peers nearby there will be dead or orphan shares. I've done everything possible to reduce them including going to an ssd based vm.
1Th/s these days is so small and with the share diff at over 18M on p2pool these days its just not viable for small miners.
I am watching the antpool news closely and if they release code that fixes the variance then I'll update my node and move my miners back.
Until that happens, it is what it is and nothing more can be magically plucked from thin air.

Where you mine is totally up to you, I've never once hit a namecoin block yet I keep it there and anyone in the know will tell you it not worth merge mining anything else.

Personally I have to roi on my s3's and kano's pool has given me 60% of that. Once I've satisfied my roi and/or someone releases a fix for p2pool variance for small miners I'll put my hashing back into p2pool.

Until then the node will stay up and available for free for anyone wanting to mine to it.

I've decided to join bitmains antpool p2p service...

I wouldn't if I were you, for a few good reasons:

It is still in the testing period.
You won't get paid Tx fees.
It is centralised.
There is much confusion about weather it uses the p2pool share chain - but most likely it does not.
As it is, using Bitmains system will not increase p2pool network, more likely it will work against decentralisation.

If you really are intent on using their untested system, I would at least wait until it is out of the testing period & their code has been uploaded & scrutinised.

I've decided to join bitmains antpool p2p service... I'd like to say Be Australian, Use Australian, Buy Australian = Home grown profits = More jobs for Aussies but your pool has some errors, Maybe cause ur not on the latest version of P2P.

Also the fact you don't merge mine for profit of your miners, I like the idea that it goes back to P2pool split amongst everyone (Via Blisterpool) but not everyone mines on your pool.

Even thou the other coins i mentioned before are virtually worthless, There are exchanges out there taking these in exchange for bitcoin = Something for nothing + Exchange to bitcoins means more overall for you miners (And at this point i believe u have none, Unless ur mining on it again) - This fact alone that ur mining on Kanos pool says something for your current belief in P2pool system.

I like the bigger payouts, Less fees but now everyone & his dog are charging no fees to entice more miners to there groups, Meaning more chances of creating a block = More Money (Bitcoin)

P2pool needs to get to the 100PH mark to be ready for the main stream, There are still way to many small miners out there causing big variances to p2pool, Once its min 1TH miers & above P2pool might stand a chance.

Till then, If u make changes, Let me know & i might see if u can pull me back..

And i'm going to buy a 1th ant miner C1 in replacement for those, Same power output but upping my GH by an extra 640gh to the network and keeping my mining rigs on the 28nm spec...

Giving me a 2.5th rig running at 2600w, My next move after that at this point (Unless something else comes along better) is the ANTMINER S4 -B2 @ 1400w. I'm busting for that, Same mining speed at almost half the wattage!

Welcome aboard, the node is performing well now. Getblock below 400ms and we have two clean shares. The server is on Microsoft Azure in the brand new datacentres they've just made available.
I'm still merge mining namecoin but I doubt that will mean anything.

I'll post here before doing any maintenance and will look at adding a second load balanced node for guaranteed uptime. It's hosted on some free credit that I have though so trying to keep it below that and hence keep the node fee free.

Please do not hesitate to post here if you need anything.

Out of interest if you are mining here could you post a quick trace route?

I actually have just over 1th/s but have had it on kanos pool. The share diff on p2pool has been so high, a victim of its own success.
I'll point my hashing back at the node later today again.
Namecoin is the only coin worth merging, the rest are so dead in the water its not worth even running them. I used to mine devcoin and ixcoin as well.
I run the node because I am interested in p2pool and believe in it. I also run the bitcoin node to keep the network up especially in Australia.
If I ever hit a namecoin block then I wil consider keeping it to pay for pool maintenance but honestly I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon.

IMHO u seem to have one of the best P2pool sites in oz just a pity u only merge mine Namecoins and only donate them to blisterpool...

Why not add iocoin, ixcoin, devcoin & terracoin to the pool and pay them back to miners on your pool...

Keep the fee's to 0 but keep 50% of the merged coins for yourself & split 50% (Converted to bitcoins) back to miners on your pool...

Anyone can setup a fast p2pool i can do on nbn d100k u5k & run the same software as u i just don't wanna leave my pc on all the time...

I've been watching the Stats & whatever your using to mine on the pool never gets a share, So are u mining for node payments only??

I couple of outages of late. Due to some testing and optimisation we had some issues but they are now resolved and the node should be stable and thanks to Matt Corallo's relay there should be much less orphans.

Norgzpool is the biggest p2pool node in Australia and is hosted on VMWare redundant infrastructure and a 50Mbit Fibre link. If you are in Australia and find it too difficult to run up and maintain your own node connect up with no fees and efficient network connections.

for btc mining it has no negative impact at all. you simply download the wallets and let them sync then add the .conf file as you would your Bitcoin.conf. just ensure you have the ports all different then use the --merged command when you start p2pool.

--merged http://username:complexspassword@localhost:7333/ where 7333 is the port set for the coin you want to marge mine.

Hi,

Why don't we help each other? I can add your address to my pool and you can do the same: p2poolthailand.com:9332 or p2pool.asia:9332

I have added your node to my Config. Next time I restart it will be connecting to your node. Smiley

Decentralize your hashing - p2pool - Norgz Pool
Norgz Pool is mining BTC only with 0 fees and is hosted on highly available cloud compute.

Quite a bit of work has been put in to provide a great front end that shows full stats for all nodes

Use your BTC address as username and no password required.

Site: http://www.norgzpool.net.au

No pools fees are charged!

Auto failover and performance pool: pool.norgzpool.net.au:9332

Australian BTC Pool URL: au.norgzpool.net.au:9332

Username:[Your Bitcoin/Litecoin Address For Payment]

Password: Not required

Servers are secured and locked down to industry best practises. NorgzPool has Matt's Relay client installed to ensure extremely low orphan rate.

*Auto Fail-over pool should find the closest node to you and also fail over if one node should go down for any reason. It's still new and a little experimental but it should at the very least provide high availability between the nodes. If one is down then you will be directed to the other within 1 minute max.
