I know the past, but there's a real difference now. Pakis are muslims whereas Indians are hindus or sikhs, and they don't get along well. I guess many hindus would be happy to see the few muslim indians emigrate to Pakistan. Things would be easier.

Hindus are declining in numbers in India. On the other hand, Muslims and Christians now make up almost one-fifth of the Indian population. And a large part of the Hindu population is secular or non-religious, and they don't identify themselves as Hindus. Pakistan might be a Muslim country, but definitely India is not a Hindu country. IMO, religious Hindus might be just 30% to 40% of the Indian population. If India, Pakistan and Bangladesh merges to form a new country, then there will be more Muslims than Hindus in that country.

An artificially created by Great Britain (using religion as a defining factor) fragment of India threatens India proper.
Pakistan is just that - an artificially created country which was bitten off from India, a parting "gift" from the British Empire to their colony, India.

Quote
Muslim nationalist who was one of the earliest proponents of the creation of the state of Pakistan. He is credited with creating the name "Pakistan" for a separate Muslim homeland in South Asia and is generally known as the founder of the movement for its creation. He is best known as the author of a famous 1933 pamphlet titled "Now or Never; Are We to Live or Perish Forever", also known as the Pakistan Declaration. The pamphlet started with a famous statement:

"At this solemn hour in the history of India, when British and Indian statesmen are laying the foundations of a Federal Constitution for that land, we address this appeal to you, in the name of our common heritage, on behalf of our thirty million Muslim brethren who live in PAKSTAN – by which we mean the five Northern units of India, Viz: Punjab, North-West Frontier Province (Afghan Province), Kashmir, Sind and Baluchistan."

...

In 1930 he moved to England to join Emmanuel College, Cambridge in 1931. In 1933, he published a pamphlet, Now or Never, coining the word Pakistan for the first time. In 1933, he founded Pakistan National Movement in England. Subsequently, he obtained a BA degree in 1933 and MA in 1940 from the University of Cambridge.

Islamabad:  Pakistan will use nuclear weapons if its survival is at stake, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said.

"(If we need to use them for) our survival, we will," Asif told Saleem Safi on Geo News programme 'Jirga'.

The minister said the use of nuclear weapons was an option as they were not kept merely for show.

"We should pray that such an option never arises, but if we need to use them (nuclear weapons) for our survival, we will," he said.

He also accused India - also a nuclear power - of waging a proxy war by "fuelling terrorism directly or indirectly... in Pakistan."

Pakistan threatening India is like a dog barking at a bear. If they launch a single nuke their whole country will be wiped of the maps in a matter of hours and they know it. Their defense may be strong but not that strong.

The Pakistani missiles are capable of targetting all the major Indian cities, and the Indian air-defense systems are obsolete and useless. It is true that Pakistan will be destroyed in a counter attack by India. But Indians should focus on improving their air-defense systems first, rather than pouring more money to improve their offensive capabilities. Perhaps, they should purchase the S-400 or the Iron Dome.

An all out war is unlikely, unless Pakistan is taken over by fanatics.
In that sense, defensive capabilities of India should be improved. No rational Pakistani ruler will consider attacking India.

Your country may be your worst enemy
I wonder if I'll live live long enough to see some kind of a peace deal between the Pakis and the Indians. I guess not. And since both have nuclear abilities, many people will keep worrying about their poor relations. Happily, I'm not much concerned. I've never been close to their border and I don't plan to go there ever.

They were one country in the past. Brits divided them and made them hate and fight each other for the profit of a western world. If they start a nuclear war then america and britain would be laughing at them.

Yeah, the rest of the world would escape the consequences of a nuclear conflict and laugh all the way to the bank!   Roll Eyes

2 Indian soldiers killed in Indian Kashmir

Associated Press
AIJAZ HUSSAIN
July 9, 2015

SRINAGAR, India (AP) — At least two Indian soldiers were killed in an exchange of gunfire with Pakistani troops and Kashmiri insurgents in two separate incidents in Indian-controlled Kashmir, Indian officials said Thursday.

The fighting erupted ahead of a meeting slated for Friday between the Indian and Pakistani prime ministers on the sidelines of a summit in Russia.

Indian Army spokesman Lt. Col Nitin N. Joshi accused Pakistani troops of violating a cease-fire accord between the two countries Thursday in the border district of Nowgam and firing on Indian soldiers.

The Indian forces retaliated and lost one paramilitary soldier, said Vishwa Bandhu, a spokesman for India's Border Security Force.

Kashmiri insurgents fired on Indian soldiers Wednesday night in the southern Kashmiri district of Shopian where they were hiding, Joshi said. An Indian army soldier who was injured in the fighting later died in a hospital, Joshi said.

India and Pakistan have fought two wars over Kashmir, which has been divided between them since British colonialists left in 1947.

Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesman Qazi Khalilullah said Thursday that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will meet with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on Friday in the Russian city of Ufa, site of summits of the BRICS trade group and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Earlier this week, the two sides exchanged fire at a border city near the Pakistani city of Sialkot. One Indian paramilitary soldier was killed Sunday, said Garib Das, a top Indian police officer.

Last summer, India called off official-level talks after Islamabad's ambassador in New Delhi met with Kashmiri separatist leaders.

India accuses Pakistan of arming and training Kashmiri insurgents who have been fighting since 1989 for independence or a merger with Pakistan, which denies the charge.

when you look at the Arsenal of India and Pakistan, you will find that India is ahead in each department and also have more advance technology compared to Pakistan so the only option left for Pakistan is the nuclear weapons. But the best thing is  the peace talks between both the countries which will be the only option to save the world from the devastating effects of war.

Well, if India wipes Pakistan off the map with nuclear weapons I´m not sure how habitable India will be, not to mention other neighboring countries and others further afield.

Pakistan warns India, says can use nuclear weapons if needed
Last Updated: Wednesday, July 8, 2015 - 23:02

Islamabad: Not withstanding the efforts being taken by the BJP government at the Centre led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to improve relations with neighbouring countries, Pakistan has made a provocative statement threatening that the option to use nuclear weapons is always available to them.

The statement was made by Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, who also accused India of waging a proxy war against the country through terrorism, IANS reported on Wednesday.

If we need to use nuclear weapons for our survival, we will, Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said.

Asif told Geo News programme 'Jirga' that use of nuclear weapons was always an option as they were not kept merely for show but as deterrents.

"We should pray that such an option never arises, but if we need to use them (nuclear weapons) for our survival, we will," he had said on Monday.

He also said that “fuelling terrorism directly or indirectly is India’s proxy war in Pakistan”.

Asif said that Pakistan’s defence capability was strong.
