to daaaa mooooooOOn!

And yet btc's worth is tied directly to the dollar.

lolwat.

So currency

Much stable

Dollar wow

Yeah lol, but all people care is percieved value. The percieved purchasing power for people is more or less the same for decades.

This, most people dont care, it is only percieved after decades, probably takes an entire generation to notice somewhat of a change in purchasing power, you only see it in graphs.

I don't know about the respect part, but the government does not like paper money.
They would prefer electronic money so they could monitor everyone's income and take your taxes.
They already have electronic money. Most money out there is only inside computers as credit debt.

Hahaha, really? I used paper money to buy goods for a fair price yesterday? I'll do so today and I'll do so tomorrow. It's perhaps a bit premature to speak of paper money as "dead". You likely get paid with it so try to show it some due respect.

As long as people spend it, paper money will not be so dead.  Besides, who could resist the appeal of the Benjamin?  Not this guy.

As long as people hold it, in speculation that they can get something for it in the future, near or far.

I with paper money never go away. Electronic currency is far more susceptible if the only way of making payments were with virtual currency then governments and big institution would own everything. I do not want this to happen.

I would change the title to "(Honest) Paper Money is so dead". Which also is bad.

Paper money is still the best option when you can't pay in Bitcoin or in precious metals. But now people prefers to pay using debt/credit cards. Debt and credit card (or any other form of eletronic transfer using banks) is what killed paper money. So (at least in my opinion), the mission of Bitcoin is not killing paper money, but killing debt and credit cards.

Paper money at least remains as legal tender, and with paper money, you have what you have. With banks eletronic money, maybe you won't have what they say you have.

PAPER MONEY???!!! That is a very optimistic term.

Only some 1-3% of money exists in such physical form, 99% is just numbers in computers, central banks do not print money, just type numbers in computers  Grin

If the big one hits, people get coins, not paper, because they will be getting cents on the dollar/euro/franc, whatever!

BTC is not leveraged, it is like electronic cash but it is much more real than fiat money

Paper money is fine but COINS suck. Was in a long line at the movies and, you guessed it, some a-hole insisted on digging through his pockets to pay with exact change. Seemed to take hours.

What should we do, then? Have 1¢ bills?

Fiat money always been doom and gloom too much gets printed and too much of it gets lent out to people never to be repaid and so many country's wonder why they are in poverty or seriously  going under and into doom and gloom. Simple solution to that. Stop lending money to people who cant afford to repay it and stop lending all together unless you can prove you can re pay it within 1 to 2 years and you have something as a security to repay the loan off. Next step stop using FIAT money all together and move to crypto. A couple have done this and living off crypto.  http://lifeonbitcoin.com/ goes to show you dont need Paper money any more to buy stuff pay for things and live happy..

what could possibly go wrong

Probably as much as Karpeles managing the biggest bitcoin exchange, amirite?
Yes, but that is not Bitcoin's fault, Karpeles has nothing to do with Bitcoin itself.

you can always trade bitcoin for fiat to buy toilet paper and food.

Not if you have eaten 2 baskets of chicken wings and your butt is going to explode while you are wating for the blockchain transaction to get confirmed lol

be sure to convert to fiat in advance everytime you plan to finish 2 baskets of chicken wings.  Grin

Yeah. Paper money is not only almost dead, it's also used for anonymous and uncontrolled money transactions to aid terrorism. This is why we should outlaw paper money!
