From what I know, the number of your XEM will remain the same and it won't get deducted for the opt-in. Its literally getting the same amount of XYM for every XEMs you have.

Worthy enough, from what I've read and investigated so far, the blockchain platform where the free token will be used are already being utilized by more than 5 legit businesses across CBD, wine companies, IoT, etc.

Is there a link on that announcement? Was that a fork or they are just replacing their token ticker name? I don't think there's much juicy in it having it will just be swapped to another token, sounds like a hype to bought their tokens. If that's a fork (free money) then I believe people will try to have XEM as they have but if just replacement, I don't think so.

If you are willing to take the risk, then why not?
Apart from having the excitement that you will get some XYM token, You should have it at the back of your mind that the eventual value of the token or coin once it hits the market may not be worth it. You also risk buying lots of XEM and then the price continues to dump right before the snapshot. Make sure you are ready for such outcomes before you hold some XEM bags otherwise the choice is yours.

In December this year, NEM is launching the Symbol public blockchain. By opting-in, XEM holders will obtain an XYM balance equal to that of their XEM balance at the time of the Snapshot.

$XEM is currently ranked 22 in CMC.

Is it worth buying XEMs to get their new blockchain business coin 1:1?
