Thankfully it is solved by restoring the wallet to the oldest backup available, even restoring to a backup of a few months old did not work but then tried with restoring to the first ever backup made which was last year and it worked.

The simplest solution is to install breadwallet on your phone and create a new wallet in it using your multibit seed words. Do you have a backup of your multibit seed words?

I am using Multibit HD, the latest version, I opened the walled today in the morning and it worked fine. But now I am trying to open but it is giving me error that password did not unlocked the wallet. The password is correct, I know but still persisting with the error. What should I do?
