People should learn from experience with Paxful and any other centralized exchanges that could just scam away ones asset within a blink of an eye, as long as they are centralized, they were all the same and has the same level of risk in using them, if Paxful could create a stir within the crypto network among other investors then i see no reason why i should go back and invest on them again when i can store my crypto on a decentralized wallet.

That means you small unit of coins go still dey there oo if only di new CEO did not reconfigure the site. As dem come back, you don check am see whether dem still dey. Tim e don tay wen u dey dis business. Oboy since wen BTC been dey $7000. Day won no bi today matter oo. I greet u for dat.
It was just round 2020. Not that long. Bitcoin still got to $3800 in March 2020. I checked the site today because of this discussion, to know more about their KYC which was kind of hash for me for only just coin to naira exchange. The coin is still there, but very small. I guess they are more lenient about KYC now.

...but everyone should trade with caution since Nigerians are infatuated with that market.
Na so, e bi like say their price for buying e dey some how good this time. Bcos when I come dey compare am with Binance, Binance dey pass with very small amount like #300. We need a very good and standard exchange in we kwantri. Let dem do well dis time around.

...It is just an amount I can afford to lose. Bitcoin was at $7000 at the time, but still a small amount for me after bitcoin got to $69000.

However, unlike other CEXs that required ID verification on an LV 1 KYC, one may trade and withdraw with a basic email and number number verification.
Maybe on my account because it was not like this on my account. I traded there in 2019 or 2020 with just phone number and email address. But later they started to request for KYC after some weeks ahead after declaring that they will start their customers for KYC before trading, which I knew about. When they started KYC, I checked my account and all I saw there was that I have to get verified.

So you kept all of your coins on the marketplace even after they declared that they were closing down operations? If you don't want to submit documents for KYC, don't use CEX; I've never had an issue with KYC because I'm not going to do anything fraudulent there.

They are the only exchange that specialises on P2P trading marketplaces without requiring extensive KYC
They never had simple KYC before. After they are back online now, I can see that you can receive up to $1000 for level 1. Can you send out too? The reason I did not withdraw all my bitcoin on Paxful was because of KYC, I was requested to complete KYC which will require ID document or BVN. But I think they are more lenient with KYC as they are back now.

I wonder how Paxful happens to have such a huge userbase in the 9ja cryptocurrency market
It is because Paxful is one of the exchanges that first started to offer P2P trades in Nigeria. The exchange also has numerous payment option. Gift cards market is also part of it as Igebotz commented.

It was more of an internal issue; the former CEO had to resign and his account was also blocked; he did mention something about maintaining a good reputation over a few useless money, and he asked everyone to trade on the noon app marketplace. I have no idea who the new CEO would be, but everyone should trade with caution since Nigerians are infatuated with that market.
I wonder how Paxful happens to have such a huge userbase in the 9ja cryptocurrency market even though Paxful is not among the top 5 cryptocurrency exchanges in Nigeria,  and yeah from the explanation covered in the email it was mentioned of the internal security issues to be the major reason for the temporary closure of their market place and opening of alternative trading channels.

I am sure this is connected to the change of CEO as you mentioned,  and if all things are equal,  sorting for a better replacement won't be a hard job for the team,  until till then,  we need to follow your last advice,  everyone should trade with caution,  and we have so many good alternative local cryptocurrency exchanges that can offer more good and reliable trading services than Paxful.

They are the only exchange that specialises on P2P trading marketplaces without requiring extensive KYC, and they also offer gift card trading, which Nigerians have been really interested in, though I'm not sure how profitable that is. Has anyone used this Noodsapp marketplace to trade?

Paxful made a very big mistake because there are many crypto exchanges that people can use to convert to naira and other local currencies.
Well for my own eye and from the explanation given from the emails,  I think the closure of their market place was a best decisions since their outline security as the major reason for that actions,  maybe the notice a bug that could have or possibly be exploited and the team needed to fixed that to protect the future of the exchange which os better than to risk their reputation simply because of high competition in the cryptocurrency exchange market,  knowing fully well the potential that is building up in the Nigeria growing cryptocurrency market.

I saw this some days ago and I am happy about that. I seems they had to go back to their drawing board to make new strategies in Services delivery which would help build their organization to the level they desire. I am delighted that they took such step and it was in favour of all who mean well to the organization.

Sometimes, such move is good to take in other to restrategies to gain more momentum and focus for which I believe they have already done and I know they would render optimum services this time around.

Congratulations to them.

Be like sae this time dem go do well for their customers. And for those who no know Paxful. Paxful na cryptocurrency Exchange platform in Nigeria wey been don fold up before and today dem sae, dem dey come back. I go like to test di service to know more about dem.

I no too sabi dem and I never use their service before, but the fact wey be say dem exit market come still come back within a month is a doubt to question their credibility in the market amongst other cryptocurrency exchanges we have.

I no dey condemn dem but if them ready to become better among the rest, dem no suppose exit market just like that when people need their service the more.
Me self no know how their reputation dey. But according to you, for dem to exit come back, na big sign.
  • If e be positive sign say dem put themselves together and come back with better services
  • If e still mean say na preparation for exit scam. Na for ponzi scheme we dey see this kind mata
So, make people wey for dey use them, dey skeptical and careful for now and no leave your coins for inside the platform. Atleast watch them for sometime.

So this is not about competition,  but about security and protection for a long term goals,  the local cryptocurrency market in Nigeria is fast growing and so much attacks is beginning to build up among the exchange markets.

But their charges by then was something else wey make me tuama 2 Binance. But I never test am for their return back.

I never use Paxful before even the time way them dey popular, now the exchange don too get issues e go hard for customers to trust them again. Maybe if them do better PR, newbies way never too get bad experience for the industry go use their service but as for me and my household, I no go risk my money for any platform way don get comma before.
Me self I Neva actually use their platform before but one of friend tell me some of the experience he had when trying to send coins from paxful to somebody as he  claims that the fee rate is fcking outrageous although I cant attesify to this but this feedback nai discourage me from ever wanting to use their platform plus the fact say dem con shutdown join.

Paxful's marketplace is back!
We're back!
After a month away, we’re happy to announce that the Paxful marketplace is back online.

In early April, we faced a difficult decision to temporarily suspend the marketplace to protect all of our customers and Paxful’s future.

Throughout the suspension the Paxful Wallet remained fully operational for our users and the community were also offered a selection of peer-to-peer platforms to continue trading on.

Over the last month, our team has worked diligently to get the marketplace back online with the safety and security of users paramount. We're delighted to be back.

Let’s keep building for the 100%.

The Paxful Team
