I see it too, do a bit research with wayback machine an you can see paypal on there. So, they definitely accept paypal before.

Which means that they operated and accepted PayPal before. Maybe that support guy was just new and isn't aware of the past activity that they did.
I can almost swear that I've seen PayPal in the site like two weeks ago. I can no longer find it and while checking the news section, there are no announcements about it.
