You called Legder Nano a cold wallet? I don't think so because you need the internet to send your bitcoin from that wallet to the receiver, and also Ledger is a closed source hardware wallet, I don't know why every newbies are making decisions themselves, why buy Ledger? Anyway, there is no turning back now.

Isn’t ledger a cold wallet? It is definitely a cold wallet all hardware wallets are. Also avoid the misconception cold wallets still needs internet devices to help propagate their signed transactions to the network. No wallet does offline broadcasting of transactions. With ledger you get a device and install ledger live or wallets hot like electrum to how broadcast the transaction, the main hardware wallet which holds the private key only signs transactions offline and send it to the hot wallets either through usb or QR code this prevents the connecting of the hardware wallet with internet devices and there by keeping the private key off the internet which is the sole purpose of hardware wallets (keeping seed phrase or private keys stored away from the internet). So your cold wallet still needs internet devices for transactions broadcasting.

I wouldn’t blame OP much on the choice of ledger been is wallet, they were actually one of the sorted after wallets in the past before they screwed up and got exposed. So maybe OP bought it a long time ago. My advice is OP changes the wallet and go for another open source wallet.

You will receive a special Bitcoin address if you are shopping on a online marketplace that accepts Bitcoin as means of payment, all you need to do is either scan the QR code and send the exact amount you are told to pay or copy the address manually, it's not hard at all, it's just like moving Bitcoin into an exchange address, roughly the same.

After sending the exact amount, wait for some seconds to minutes, the marketplace payment service will detect incoming transaction from you, and viola you will get your purchased product once the transaction block is completed.

You would need to use a device for that in order to be able to send payment if you find a store that accept Bitcoin. For you to pay is to send the payment to the store. Don't worry about where to send because online store will automatically generate a qr code once you submitted your order or you will see an wallet address and the amount needed to pay and of course, the transaction fee is not included since they only ask you to pay a certain amount and you will need the wallet you use to store bitcoin to pay the amount of your purchase.

Turn off is not a panacea.

Removing the SIM card will not change anything. Any phone is tracked by IMEI.

Laptops come in small sizes and with the right level of security (measures taken) it is better for confirming bitcoin transactions (large sums) than a smartphone.
I think it will work using the phone without a sim card and will only turn the device on when sending a payment then once it is done then the phone should be turned off after disconnecting the internet where OP may have connected. If I am not clear about it then this is what I mean, mobile phone ON, connect internet, send payment, disconnect internet, mobile phone OFF (A phone without a sim card and turned off tracking trackers).

I do not have a smart phone nor do I want one, (don't like being tracked) so how can I use my bitcoin.
Do you have a mobile phone? It also tracks very well.

I understand how to buy on line but what about in shops etc. or is that not possible without a smartphone. Is there some sort of bitcoin credit card?
thanks in advance
Alan
You can come up with a more complicated method.
Place bitcoin in an amount sufficient to purchase the item on your wallet. Write out the seed phrase of your wallet and give it to the seller. He gains access and transfers bitcoin to himself. Something like this.

You can turn off tracking trackers on your mobile phone and use it without a SIM card, which is much more convenient than carrying a bulky laptop.

But you still need an Internet connection, so if you know the price of the product, wouldn’t it be more convenient to transfer the required amount to your phone in advance and use Wi-Fi solely to pay for the product?
However, this method is more practical so as not to carry all your assets with you. OP wasn’t going to buy a sports car or a house this way, was he?

I don’t think that while connecting the phone to Wi-Fi and paying, any surprises can happen.
No surprises. Just connecting to Wi-Fi most often requires confirmation via a mobile phone number to gain access (in my country, most public Wi-Fi requires this).

if you don't want to use phone how will you be able to use payments using bitcoin? most stores have qrcode to be scan, so not having a smartphone will stop you for using bitcoin on store who accept bitcoin, i suggest use money instead if you really want to be tracked.
or just use another bitcoin wallet that never use to send to your main wallet, there are other workaround you know if you really wan't to.
He can still use the camera on the laptop and must get used to carrying a laptop when he wants to pay with Bitcoin, i hope he should get used to carrying a Laptop if he doesn't have cash to pay. Smartphones have become a necessity to make online transactions easier, one should carry cash as another alternative if one is afraid of using a smartphone. His worries are too excessive, if the reason is fear of being tracked due to using a smartphone, then many other people can be tracked after making Bitcoin transactions, in fact his worries can still be overcome as long as he is able to maintain privacy well.
This too dangerous imagine bring your laptop just to pay for example worth a hundred dollars and then scanning the qrcode with the laptop in a store, although this is possible but not adviceable, what if when you came out of the store someone stole it from you, not only you lose your laptop but also data information are also there, mobile phone should be use, for this kind of transactions.

You mean bitcoin debit card and exchanges have it. When someone says exchanges on this space, it means crypto centralized exchanges.

Most of the shops that accepts BTC you need have to scan their qr and if you do not have a smartphone, you have to send it directly with the use of your hardware wallet by entering the address or the qr if that cold wallet allows it.

The wallet you plan to bring around should be considered as your hot wallet and you must afford to lose it by some reasons like losing your devices or your devices are compromised.

By this warning, you must store very little money (bitcoin) in your hot wallets.

My strategy to make my life more easily and comfortable is I always have cash, bitcoin and stable coin. With three options that are always available for my access, I can make payment without big issue.

Is there some sort of bitcoin credit card?
They defeat the purpose, don't you think?
If you want to hand over the full control of your money to a third party that can do with it whatever they want while taking a commission from you, then why bother using Bitcoin in first place? Stick to using fiat and existing fiat credit cards!

(don't like being tracked)
Is there some sort of bitcoin credit card?
Do you also see the contradiction here?

Find shops and where you can spend your bitcoins.
https://bitcoin.org/en/spend-bitcoin

It's hard if you hang out and want to spend your bitcoin without your smart phone or your laptop because you don't have access to your wallet and can not sign your Bitcoin transaction as a purchase payment.

Don't have a smart phone nowadays is strange.

Bitcoin transactions are being tracked since it was publicly recorded on the blockchain.
Yes. Bitcoin blockchain has its public ledger and everyone can check the ledger, transaction history, address. It's not a private blockchain.

Don't make life complicated, friend. If your goal in buying Bitcoin is only to use it as a means of payment for every item you buy, then you have to consider the transaction fees and also the price of Bitcoin which is much lower when you buy. In my opinion, your fear is too much and can be a hassle for you. When you want to make a transaction, you have to carry a laptop wherever you go as a medium for scanning QR codes when making payments. If your goal in buying Bitcoin is to pay for every item you buy, then why bother storing it in a Ledger nano cold wallet, wouldn't that be even more complicated especially if you don't want a smart phone.

That's impossible.
Bitcoin transactions are being tracked since it was publicly recorded on the blockchain.

It's worse if you want to use a crypto debit card, upon creating an account it asks for too much information about yourself which breaks your privacy.

From the exchange you've used, why not directly use it to send your payment?
Or here's my idea.
Find a Bitcoin ATM near your area and then buy Bitcoin using your online merchant address and present them with the receipt that you have as your proof of payment.

Crypto debit card are heavily tracked, sadly.

What about a middle ground approach? I know a lot of folks concern about their privacy tweak their smartphones to make it privacy friendly, perhaps you could look into that on privacy forums.

First you actually need to have shop that accept bitcoin, than you can purchase something online with bitcoin and collect the item in shop or ask for home delivery.
Another way is to bring laptop or small netbook with you and connect it with ledger wallet, but I am not sure this is practical, and you need to have internet connection for this.
Last option is to use some crypto cards that can be used to indirectly purchase something with bitcoin.

You cannot use your bitcoins directly to make transactions from your Ledger nano cold wallet without connection to the internet if this is what you want to know, you need a smartphone or a laptop for this purpose. If you do not want it, you can work around with your laptop, which can be inconvenient and dangerous.

Is there some sort of bitcoin credit card?
I do not think so, it will n0ot even be safe, it will make it easier for your bitcoins to be stolen if it ever existed.

Since you said that you have purchased Bitcoin using Coinbase so why not to directly transfer Bitcoin from Coinbase wallet to any online shop without any worries but since you're talking about online shops that accept Bitcoin payments then surely you'll have to use your smartphone to transfer Bitcoin from your Coinbase wallet to the wallet of the shop from whom you're purchasing the goods.

You can use your laptop for that purpose too but I guess smartphone is going to be much convenient. Don't worry as long as you're purchasing legal goods then no one is going to be tracking you, but if you're thinking about purchasing arms or something which isn't legal then I guess no one will give you an answer on this forum.

Can you tell me how I can use my bitcoin in a shop that accepts bitcoin

Any shop, no matter it's online or physical, will accept bitcoin in the same way, since bitcoin is always online.

So if you don't want to use your phone, you can use a laptop for example, simply in the way you would do from home.
Just you'll need internet. And connecting to others' WiFi can be risky. So you may still need a phone for enabling mobile hotspot for your laptop...
Or, since your Ledger keeps your funds safe anyway, keep a partition/OS only for this kind of tasks, use your laptop with WiFi and reinstall it often.

You can carry a laptop with you and use its camera or a connected camera to scan a QR code and make a payment with any software wallet. It's a but clunky but you can get used to it and it would be quite fast.
Since the op is determined to make transaction with bitcoin but  don’t want to make use of smart phone, he/she can be able to bear the burden of carrying his laptop to the place he want to make his purchase, with time he will get use to it.

Another option could be to place an order from the shop he want to buy from they send the QR code to the wallet and amount of goods which he want to purchase and he can stay and make his payment from home using his cold wallet and laptop to authorize the transaction then later work up to the shop for the goods pick up.

If you can be able to get smart phone or laptop, it will really help you to enjoy the benefits of those BTC you bought from the market because this is a digital currency that has to do with online either you want to check your balance in your wallet, you need phone or laptop to access your BTC in your wallet any time or any day.

Hope the wallet you created is a solid wallet because, some newbies can make some mistakes to create wallet that will will not last long before they will begin to see some strange things from the wallet.

There are some cards that use Bitcoin balance, but they are completely centralized and no different from regular payment cards. If you are afraid of phones, you should be afraid of payment cards too.

When buying from any online store sample Bitrefil when you are at the checkout it will generate a unique QR code or BTC address including the price or amount that you should send copy that and paste to the wallet you currently use.

Since you are using Ledger make an Electrum watch-only wallet with your ledger and there you should be able to paste the BTC address and sign it with your Ledger hardware wallet.

Or for desktop live or mobile you can follow this guide https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/4404382228753-Send-crypto-assets?docs=true

If the bitcoin you bought from Coinbase is sent to the ledger cold wallet, I don’t think there is any means for you to connect a crypto debit card to it.

Some of the debit card-powered companies are all centralised, and you are careful with your privacy. I don’t think you will like to make use of any platform that will require your personal data.

But if you must, you can check out the list of debit card providers; maybe one of them could fit what you need.
