to this day these new functions are still not available for all countries in the world, for example in my case it is not available yet and I am starting to think that it will not be available and I do not understand why paypal is being slow to make this option available to everyone use cryptocurrencies in their paypal accounts, at first I could even understand if they had to take this much time due to a question of laws, but if there are country like mine that allow people to use bitcoin then if paypal implement this option in my country means it would not be illegal

the same review I got on the site https://cointelegraph.com/news/paypal-launches-crypto-services-for-uk-customers
however, this is a very good step for cryptocurrencies to be accepted in the world. although I often hear that Paypal accepts bitcoin or crypto, this is the first time I've seen it for real. it will also enlarge crypto users around the world, especially Paypal users. however, I think the bull run will come back soon at the end of this year.

Indeed. This is another positive news for our community. It is a great thing that the countries are slowly welcoming cryptocurrency despite the tainted reputation it has because of scams and schemes that were forcefully associated with it in the past and at the present. This just means that they are seeing beyond the clouded image of crypto. The people behind the acceptance of crypto are to be thanked because they are giving more opportunities to the citizens to decide on their own, on what they will do with their funds, and how they will utilize it. I commend Paypal in the UK for doing such a thing. This will pave way for the users in the UK to have more options and alternatives on where to trade from. I just hope they will expand its features later because I think the feature that they just added is limited only to trading but does not enclose it with receiving and transferring of assets.

Everything is step by step and with time, people will be able to send and receive on paypal too. I heard that paypal is currently hiring crypto developers. So, this means they are looking forward to improve and add more features
I do not know what could have been more difficult for PayPal to have the feature for their users to be able to send and receive Bitcoin and other supported cryptocurrencies right from the start, this is the basic of crypto and the most important aspect which is called crypto transaction, but of which PayPal do not support it.

Can PayPal customers now be able to send and receive bitcoin and other supported cryptocurrencies? Only what PayPal offer that I know about is crypto buying and selling, but people can not send and receive.

This is great, we are indeed headed to a digital revolution where e-currencies and crypto will rule the world. The development means that with the sterling, a user can now buy crypto, - so far only Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash.Another obersvation: if you hold Euros, you can still buy crypto by using exchange agglomerator https://www.bestchange.com/paypal-euro-to-paypal-euro.html to exchange your PayPal EUR for another PayPal EUR  and get the best rates. The site https://www.bestchange.com/ provids more than 50 exchangers who will give you the best rates.

This is the first time I've heard of PayPal launching direct transactions with Cryptocurrencies in the UK, and of course this will make it easier for PayPal members to shop for Cryptocurrency coins directly. Even though for now only top-ranked coins such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and BCH can be purchased. I'm sure in the future there will be more Crypto coins available.
Great hope for me, That this news can soon spread throughout the world. So that the world community will no longer have any doubts about Crypto, I am grateful that more and more large companies will accept Cryptocurrency as a means of payment.

Even though PayPal is an evil empire, and a HIGHLY corrupt company/organization..them adding bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to the platform has been a HUGE deal for bitcoins mass adoption.  I was surprised to learn here that bitcoin/crypto trading was already established regardless of where in the world you were.  I guess I figured any country that has PayPal certainly would already have bitcoin buying set up.  Glad to hear this.

Yeah, actually Binance Pay is far better service than the PayPal. Considering the later one is just electronic payment system well thought in earlier decade and now they are just adopting the modern financial systems like crypto currencies. Let's not forget that paypal is also one of the company made by Elon so, this was obvious to see today or later in the future.

Probably. But let's not forget that PayPal is far far more regulatory friendly than Binance, which is pretty much in the regulatory gray area at all times. Binance is dozens of times more likely to be in trouble(including the assets you hold through their platform) compared to the likes of PayPal.

to buy, hold and sell.
This is the problem. And it doesn't seem to have changed compared to before, they still don't let the customers deposit or withdraw the coins they own on their platform. Which means they are just interested in making money by selling IOUs because they may not even own any cryptocurrencies.

I think the bull run will come back soon in October.
Exactly because of what I explained above, PayPal is not connected to the bitcoin market which means it has absolutely no effects on anything.
Not to mention that bitcoin has been in a bull run for a long time now, even when the price had a drop for a couple of months it was still in a bull run (the drop was a longer than usual bear trap).

PayPal is excellent choice for those users who do not believe bitcoin directly but still want to use it somehow. Since PayPal is based on user oriented rather than business oriented they can always secure the funds and can get the money back if something goes wrong.

PayPal users will be just using the fiat behind the curtains of Bitcoin. This will however bring more market for paypal.

No, it still cannot.

You can buy, sell and hold cryptocurrency through PayPal’s cryptocurrency service, but you can’t use it to send cryptocurrency. Purchases and sales of cryptocurrency aren’t reversible and cannot be changed. None of the information provided by PayPal should be taken as tax, financial, legal, trading or investment advice. Consider seeking advice from your financial or tax adviser. All custody of and trading in cryptocurrencies is performed by a service provider through arrangements with other PayPal group companies.

Still the same as in the past information

Still cannot.

The functionality of the app is still quite limited, as customers cannot send or receive Bitcoin.

There's still limitation and most of the articles that I've seen that it might happen in the near future. But we don't know if that's really going to happen, there's going to be a lot loss that might happen to them if they allow so.

I believe this is a step closer to making crypto currency acceptable and generally accepted means of transaction globally.
Hopefully, other payment platforms will adopt the same method.
Imagine having crypto currency as the most used means of making payments and buying stuffs.

A new crypto tab will be added to the PayPal platform, showing real-time currency prices as well as offering educational content to help answer common questions and learn more about cryptocurrencies, including the potential risks, PayPal said.
To those who have already seen/used this tab in the US, can you guys share a screenshot of it [I'm interested in the educational part only]? I'm curious to know if this is one of those tricks to redirect some of their customers, into using a platform that also happens to be their partner.

PayPal confirmed the new service would begin rolling out this week and would be available to all eligible customers within the next few weeks.
By the look of things, not everyone will get that feature in the UK!

The worrying thing here is that with more people getting into crypto, we might see a surge of newbies losing a lot of money in trading since PayPal made it much more accessible. Although, I feel like it can help a lot of people too, we might see some people losing but we will also see people profiting.
PayPal trade has charge back but Bitcoin and crypto transactions are irreversible.

I don't choose PayPal if I have other payment methods to choose and PayPal is not the only way to join crypto. Gift cards, fiat transfers through banks, peer to peer marketplaces. I know PayPal have big user numbers but they need cryptocurencies to maintain their customer number. Because if they don't adapt to the main stream of cryptocurrencies, they will be beaten by opponents, other merchants, etc.

That’s because PayPal has had a taste. The company reports that customers who buy cryptocurrencies log in to PayPal twice as often as they did before they bought cryptocurrencies. In April, PayPal added the option to buy and hold cryptocurrency to Venmo, and the response was overwhelming.

I think the bull run will come back soon in October.

Online payment system Paypal is allowing users in the UK to buy, hold and sell cryptocurrency through its platform for the first time.

Customers will be able to choose from four types of cryptocurrency: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash
