if it's windows make sure to set the Virtual memory on you don't really have set it to 16 GB like CM says just make sure it's on and set to some a mount or leave at auto or the PC will crash,when the load increases , so i found out ... and that was even with 32 GB on the board ... not sure with Linux OS, you can set it, but not sure why you need it with that OS ..
like there saying make sure your PSU can handle the load..

I have a Corsair ax1200i and when I try to mine with 6x RX480's it instantly resets due to over-current protection. I had to move two cards to another PSU.
I *should* return it to the store, but considering I got it for half price as a refurbished unit, I don't really care
DDU and reinstall drivers again.
Maybe you played with an OC app, and some of the settings got remembered (maybe voltage), and that's why the cards keep crashing.

Thanks 64dimensions. Will look into it for sure. I just find it odd that it has been mining fine for weeks and it just suddenly starts acting this way. I am leaning towards the idea that it is a riser that no longer can handle the load of dual mining.
Risers work or don't, there's no "half working risers". 99% chance you're just undervolting/overclocking too much for dual mining, because the 2nd coin requires all the core power that eth doesn't. Just up your damn voltage and make sure you have enough power for the cards.
I am not even undervolting. Just the power limit is -25% and has been fine for 2 weeks. Even now when I undid the power limit change it still wont dual mine.

Not so fast. The PS maybe still in play. Remember when a PS is rated X watts, that's the average, not the peak.
You haven't mentioned the card or the card settings.
For example, if it's a Sapphire 580X and the dual bios is set in the gamer position and the clocks haven't been changed, the clock setting is 1450. This is a huge power draw on startup, especially for dual mining (which you haven't shown the settings).
Things to consider:
0) pull 3 cards and then see if it runs.
1) Experiment using some sort of software tool to set the clocks BEFORE starting up Claymore.
2) Run just ETH, initially
3) Use v9.3 and ramp up the 2nd coin hash rate gradually.
4) Think about running a separate molex(?) to your H81 BTC MB from the power supply.
5) Low probability, check to see if the wall plug is wired up correctly with a wall plug tester.
If you get stuff working with the above, then it's a issue with peak power draw or possibly a marginal riser.

been testing a little. Something goes wrong when I try to undervolt them or set the powerlimit. So now I am single-coin mining and use as much power as I did dual mining

Hi all, I have an issue with one of my rigs. When it start dual mining it freezes after about 2 minuts. But when I disable dual mining and do mining ETH only it mines just fine. Anyone a clue what that could be? The rig is a H81 BTC pro, default set-up with 6 RX 580's in it on a 1600w EVGA G2 PSU. It has been mining fine for about 2 weeks now and suddenly these crashes.
Any help would be really appreciated...

you can always test if it's the PSU by powering one of the cards with another one and seeing if it's stable
