I bought some x1 and x16 risers from ebay and it seems the quality of x16 riser is way better than x1.  The connection between the slot and the pcb on the x1 looks to be hand soldered whereas on the x16 they are machine soldered.  Try another riser if bridge trick still doesn't work.

Running a Epox EP-9npa3  ultra board has one 16x slot and 2 1x slots.  Can't get 2nd card to work at all  in either 1x slot.  Have tried powered and non powered extenders and have attempted shorting pin a1 & b17.  My question is, since I have no hair left to pull out, What do most people use to short those pins and what is the best place to insert the shorting wire (seems  to be a tight area and hard to get wires in there at all)
