I have an AX1200i
I have found some more cables of another AXi PSU I have. Would it be ok to plug in more PCIE cables to power the risers?
I.E Use 2 x double 8 pin wires and 1 singe 8 pin to power the GPUs and then use the same top power the risers without the +2 pin?
This would leave me with 6 cables coming from the PCIE rails on my PSU.
Link shows my PSU ports.
Thanks

It depends on what kinds of wires you got. Look at the PSU cables, find the AWG markings.

You should supply the extender with 75W so if the molex cables have

AWG 22 - 20, you can attach 1 molex -> 6pin per cable
AWG 19 - 18, you can attach 2 molex -> 6pin per cable
AWG 17 - 16, you can attach 3 molex -> 6pin per cable
AWG 15 for 4
AWG 14 for 5
etc.

Most good quality PSU's come with at least AWG 18 so on those, 1 molex cable can do 2x 6 pin adapters or a single 8 pin adapter.

buy version 7 or 8!!!!

It's the newer version that keep failing on me, I see no performance increase TBH. I'll stick with the high endurance for mining.

@thesavoyard

Test all of them. I bought 50 of them, and 20 was not working. Seller was really high rated.

thanks, will do. I already bought 6 and they all work but it's worth a double check.

Thanks for the advice and thanks also for not being nasty, i cry easy.
I looked all over before posting and although I've made builds before, I have never used risers.
I'm all sorted now, cheers.

Hello

I ordered the wrong risers and instead of getting the molex ones i got the 6 pin pcie ones.
I only have one spare pcie with my psu and don't like the idea of using the sata to pcie adapter.
Should I buy pcie to female molex adapters? These seem to be 2 molex on to one pcie, Would i need to connect both molex into one adapter and if so would i still be able to get 2 risers on the same molex cable?

Thanks

I could be insulting  or nasty   I won't, you got the correct risers.

a molex cable can do 1 riser not 2. so this adapter is good for 1 riser per molex cables.

https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-2-Pack-Molex-Power/dp/B01DV1Z22K/ref=sr_1_2?

so  if you have six risers  you can use this adapter  to turn the extra pcie into 2 risers
https://www.amazon.com/JacobsParts-Express-Power-Splitter-Cable/dp/B00JLU0UQ4/ref=sr_1_3?

and if you have  2 molex cables
this will allow 2 more risers
 https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-2-Pack-Molex-Power/dp/B01DV1Z22K/ref=sr_1_2?

that is four risers.

if you have 2 separate sats cables you can do  2 sata to pcie

basically  if you have a six card rig  with six risers

1 pcie can split into 2 risers
2 separate molex will do 2 risers
2 separate sates will do 2 risers.

Why would you need to be insulting or nasty?

Also, anybody in the EU I will soon have 120 USB PCI risers, version 006 coming in soon. I can overnight in the EU so no more waiting 6 weeks to get them. This is a trial run, if it works I will be expanding.
