The thing is when you put three cards in a case they are so close together that the cards dont get any airflow.  I have three 7950s in my Thermaltake Level 10 and I have to keep the side off with a box fan blowing at max on it just to keep the top card below 80 C.

Open air rigs are a way better choice.  Either go the milk crate route or build a little thing out of wood.  You might not think so now but you will want to OC the cards once you get it setup and see the hash rate you get out of stock clocks.

can You even put them all without risers? They take so much space that there is no way I could put more than 2 cards into my mobo directly.

How hot?
The case has really good airflow + fan directly into them?
Where can i get risers from in europe?
and how the hell do i mount those in a normal case?
This is my biggest concern...

The 290s do get really hot, may want risers to protect the motherboard from excessive heat.

Nope, probably undervolt them a bit, but no overclocking.
I hope people will see this as there is a lot of confusion about this.
With a very good case, and with 3 x16 pcie ports you can put 3 videocards with no issues.

Cheers

Hey guys,

I'm about to buy components for a litecoin rig and this is really confusing.
I want to buy the asrock extreme 4 with 3 pcie x16 slots and i want to put that into a haf 932 advanced.
Do i need risers for 3 r9 290, even if it's on x16 slots and they have enough wattage?
HAF932 is really really well ventilated.

Thanks

for 3 you don't need a riser. Unless you are going to force overclock it...
